Abstract

Bawang merah (Allium ascalonicum L.) merupakan komoditas strategis di Indonesia. Kebutuhan yang terus meningkat sehingga produksinya perlu ditingkatkan. Faktor penentu produksi diantaranya adalah jarak tanam dan pemupukan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan jarak tanam dan dosis pemupukan NPKMg yang tepat untuk tanaman bawang merah. Percobaan disusun secara faktorial dalam Rancangan Kelompok Lengkap Teracak dengan 3 ulangan menggunakan varietas SS-Sakato. Faktor pertama adalah jarak tanam yaitu 10 cm x 10 cm, 10 cm x 15 cm, 15 cm x 15 cm, dan 15 cm x 20 cm. Faktor kedua adalah dosis pupuk NPKMg (10:12:17:2) yaitu 200, 400, 600, dan 800 kg ha-1. Jarak tanam 10 cm x 15 cm menghasilkan luas daun, jumlah umbi dan bobot basah umbi per rumpun, hasil ubinan dan produktivitas lebih tinggi dibandingkan jarak tanam 10 cm x 10 cm, 15 cm x 15 cm, dan 15 cm x 20 cm. Laju transpirasi tertinggi juga dihasilkan dari jarak tanam 10 cm x 15 cm untuk semua dosis pupuk NPKMg (10:12:17:2), kecuali 400 kg ha-1. Peningkatan dosis pemupukan pada rentang 200 - 800 kg NPKMg (10:12:17:2) tidak meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil umbi karena kandungan N rendah (20 – 80 kg ha-1) sehingga perlu tambahan pupuk tunggal sumber N. Abstract

Public demand for cayenne pepper is high, so it is necessary to improve the quantitative characteristics of chilies, one of which is by selecting. This research aims to obtain information regarding the mean and interval values of several quantitative characters, inbreeding depression, heritability values, and selection progress from five generations resulting from crossing two cayenne pepper parents. The genetic material used consisted of two chili parents, namely the genotype IPB C321 (female parent), and IPB C290 (male parent) along with the results of crossing the two in the F2, F3, F4, and F5 generations with a total of 580 individual plants. The research results showed that based on the mean value between the F2 to F5 generations, there was an increase in the observed characters except at harvest age. The observed characters did not experience inbreeding depression. The heritability value in the narrow sense shows the high criteria for fruit length characters in the observed generation, fruit weight per plant and weight per fruit in the F2 generation, number of fruit per plant in the F2 and F3 generations, and fruit diameter in the F3 and F4 generations. Other generations have heritability values in the narrow sense of low and medium criteria. In general, the progress of selection for quantitative characters in the five chili generations studied showed a decline, although there were decreases and increases in the generations and characters observed.

Abstract

These experiments were aimed to obtain optimum medium for micropropagation of Ruscus. There were two experiments consist of in vitro shoots proliferation, shoot elongation and rooting.  The experiment of shoot proliferation performed by inducing adventitious shoots from explant in the Murashige and Skoog (1962)(MS) basal medium supplemented with combination of plant growth regulators BAP (0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 and 6.0 mg/l) and IAA (0.0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.4 mg/l). The elongation and rooting of plantlets were induced in the different concentration of the MS basal medium (0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 strength) combined with IBA (0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 mg/l).  Both experiments were arranged as completely randomized design with 15 replications. Adventitious shoots were produced in all medium supplemented with BAP with or without IAA. However MS medium supplemented with BAP 1 mg/l or 2 mg/l combined with IAA 0.2 mg/l were the best.  The number of adventitious shoots in these medium were 9.2 and 9.4 shoots after 8 weeks cultured respectively.  Increasing concentration of BAP more than 4 mg/l decreased number and size of adventitious shoots.  The plantlets produced in the proliferation medium were then transferring to the next treatments for elongation and rooting.  The best medium for elongation and rooting were medium with half strength of MS with or without IBA. Acclimatization conducted by transferring the rooted plantlets on the medium containing sterilized soil and rice husk charcoal (1:1).  After 4 weeks acclimatization, 60-100 percent of plantlets were survived and growth, depend on treatments.   Key words: Acclimatization, adventitious shoot, micropropagation, rooting, Ruscus hypophyllum L.

Abstract

Several bacterial pathogens can cause diseases of potato. Ralstonia solanacearum and Erwinia carotovora are those of the world’s most important diseases of potato, especially in tropical climates. This experiment was aimed to obtain putative potato cultivars having good tolerance to bacterial wilt caused by R. solanacearum and soft rot caused by E. carotovora. Two adopted potato cultivars in Indonesia, cv. Atlantic (2n=4X=48) and cv. Granola (2n=4X=48), were used as parents. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Complete Design. Test for tolerance was perfomed in vitro using BF15 as susceptible control and Solanum stenotonum as tolerance control. The result showed that there was high diversity of tolerance level to both R. solanacearum and E. carotovora. Some clones showed good tolerance level as compared to cv. Atlantic and cv. Granola, but none showed that as compared to S. stenotonum.

Abstract

The information on birds eye chili (Capsicum frutescens L.) resistance to melon aphids (Aphis gossypii) is rarely reported. Objectives of this research were to evaluate genetic variability of 19 genotypes bird chili and identify the potential genotypes resistant to A. gossypii. This research consisted of two experiments. The first experiment was conducted in April-December 2015 at Leuwikopo Experimental Field, Faculty of Agriculture IPB. Genetic materials used were 19 genotypes of bird chili from Plant Breeding Laboratory IPB which were planted from seedling stage until harvesting stage. The second experiment was conducted in May 2017-May 2018 at Faculty of Agriculture, IPB Darmaga Campus. Material used were 19 genotypes of bird chili at seedling stage, and melon aphids which were collected from Leuwikopo Experimental Field IPB. Melon aphid infestation method used no-choice test. The results showed the genetic variability of bird chili had more than 0.30 coefficient of dissimilarity. Genetic variability for canopy width, anther length, fruit weight, and fruit length were classified to broad, but total fruit weight per plant was classified to narrow. There were six genotypes clasified resistant to melon aphid, i.e., C332, C343, C333, C334, C290, C346. The potential genotypes for breeding program of bird chili resistant to melon aphid were C343 and C334.Keywords: Aphis gossypii, Capsicum frutescens, cluster, resistant variety

Abstract

Improvement of chilli’s quantitative traits requires several stages of breeding program, one of these is selection stage. The objective of this study was to obtain the information concerning the means and ranges of some quantitative characters, inbreeding depression, heritability estimates, and response to selection from six generations derived from crossing two parents of chili peppers. Materials used were IPB C160 (female), IPB C291 (male) as parents, F2, F3, F4, F5, and F6 derived from crossing of these parents with a total number of 630 plants. Results from this study showed that the mean valuesbetween the generations F2 to F6 showed an increase in the observed character except of harvesting time. The highest value of inbreeding depression for harvest time, weight per fruit, and fruit length was found in F5 generation. The highest value of inbreeding depression for fruit weight per plant, number of fruit per plant, and fruit weight was found in F6 generation, and for fruit diameter was found in F4 generation. The narrow-sense heritability estimates were classified into low to moderate criteria. Abstract

Excessive use of inorganic fertilizers is suspected to be the cause of low productivity and poor bulb storability that reduced their use. Goat manure organic fertilizer (GMOF) can be an alternative in reducing the use of these inorganic fertilizers. The study was conducted in March to June 2019 in the shallot field at Sukorejo Village, Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java. The research aims to determine the dose of inorganic fertilizer which can be reduced by adding goat manure to increase the growth and production of shallot bulbs. This experiment used 2 factors, namely manure consisting of 2 levels (0 and 10 tons ha-1) and inorganic fertilizer consisting of 5 levels (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% inorganic fertilizer reference dose). The treatment was repeated 4 times so that there were 40 experimental plots with a size of 2 m x 4 m, using Super Philip variety. The addition of 10 tons ha-1 of GMOF to shallot cultivation in Nganjuk Regency could reduce the use of inorganic fertilizer to 50%. Keywords: goat manure, nutrient uptake, organic, Super Philip

Abstract

Varietas cabai yang stabil dan berdaya hasil tinggi diperlukan untuk peningkatan produksi cabai nasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi stabilitas hasil 16 genotipe cabai rawit (Capsicum fructescens L.) dengan menggunakan analisis stabilitas parametrik (Francis-Kannenberg, Wricke, Finlay-Wilkinson, AMMI dan GGE). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus 2018 sampai September 2019 pada empat lokasi, yaitu Kolaka, Palembang, Aceh dan Bogor. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan tiga ulangan. Genotipe cabai rawit yang dievaluasi adalah F5285290-237-6-1, F6285290-6-10-1-1, F5285290-290-2-1, F5285290-290-9-1, F5285290-290-9-3, F5321290-40-2-1, F5285290-123-6-15, F6321290-252-10-8-4, F5285290-38-6-3, F6321290-252-10-8-23, F6321290-252-10-8-75, Bonita IPB, Inul (varietas lokal), Cakra putih (varietas komersial), Taruna (varietas komersial), dan Tobasco. Interaksi genotipe x lingkungan berpengaruh nyata terhadap hasil. genotipe F6321290-252-10-8-4 diidentifikasi sebagai genotipe stabil berdasarkan beberapa metode stabilitas parametrik, namun genotipe tersebut tidak memiliki rata-rata hasil tertinggi. Sedangkan analisis GGE mengidentifikasi Bonita IPB sebagai genotipe yang stabil dengan daya hasil tertinggi. Kata kunci: AMMI, analisis stabilitas, cabai rawit, varietas

Abstract

Kebutuhan akan varietas kentang untuk industri olahan keripik kentang terus meningkat, namun ketersediaan varietas yang menghasilkan umbi yang memenuhi kriteria untuk keripik kentang masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan karakterisasi kualitas umbi kentang dari beberapa genotipe unggul koleksi IPB yang sesuai bagi kebutuhan industri olahan keripik kentang. Karakter kualitas tersebut meliputi diameter umbi, berat jenis, bahan kering, dan organoleptik keripik. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Januari-Mei 2020 di Desa Margamulya, Kecamatan Cikajang, Kabupaten Garut. Sebanyak delapan genotipe yang terdiri atas PKHT-2019-010, PKHT-2019-011, PKHT-2019-012, PKHT-2019-013, PKHT-2019-014, PKHT-2019-015, PKHT-2019-016, PKHT-2019-017 dan dua varietas pembanding yaitu Medians dan Intan. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak faktor tunggal yaitu genotipe dengan 4 ulangan. Penelitian dimulai dari persiapan lahan, penanaman, pemeliharaan, dan pemanenan, serta pengolahan keripik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa genotipe PKHT-2019-010, PKHT-2019-012, dan PKHT-2019-017 memiliki potensi sebagai genotipe yang dapat dikembangkan sebagai varietas kentang untuk bahan baku industri keripik kentang berdasarkan berat jenis, kandungan gula, bentuk, penampilan dan warna keripik yang baik. Genotipe PKHT-2019-015 memiliki produktivitas, bobot umbi dan diameter umbi yang sangat baik dan memenuhi kriteria industri, namun memiliki kadar gula yang tinggi sehingga lebih cocok dikembangkan sebagai kentang sayur. Namun demikian masih diperlukan penelitian lanjutan untuk meningkatkan bobot dan ukuran ketiga genotipe tersebut untuk mencapai standard industri. Abstract

Konsumsi kentang di Indonesia terus meningkat namun belum sepenuhnya diperoleh dari dalam negeri. Hal ini disebabkan produktivitas kentang nasional masih rendah akibat kultivar impor yang tidak adaptif. Perakitan kultivar yang berpotensi hasil tinggi dan tahan penyakit layu bakteri merupakan upaya untuk meningkatkan produksi kentang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat ketahanan penyakit layu bakteri secara in vitro dan potensi hasil genotipe kentang IPB. Penelitian dilakukan di laboratorium Pusat Kajian Hortikultura Tropika (PKHT) IPB untuk uji ketahanan penyakit dan di lahan pertanaman kentang milik petani di Pangalengan, Kabupaten Bandung untuk uji daya hasil pada bulan Januari sampai Juni 2018. Sebanyak tujuh genotipe uji yang terdiri dari terdiri dari PKHT 4, PKHT 6, PKHT 9, PKHT 10, PKHT 12, Intan, dan Medians, serta dua pembanding yaitu Atlantik dan Granola digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Uji ketahanan penyakit layu menggunakan metode in vitro dengan cara menginokulasi plantlet dengan metode gunting pucuk dilanjutkan dengan mengamati periode inkubasi, tingkat kejadian penyakit dan derajat ketahanan. Adapun uji daya hasil dilakukan dengan cara membandingkan pertumbuhan tanaman dan produksi umbi di lapangan. Hasil uji ketahanan menunjukkan genotipe PKHT 4 dan PKHT 9 mempunyai tingkat ketahanan, yaitu agak tahan, yang lebih baik dibandingkan Atlantik dan Granola sebagai kultivar pembanding. Uji daya hasil menunjukkan terdapat dua genotipe yang memiliki potensi hasil tinggi yaitu PKHT 6 (38.91 ton ha-1) PKHT 10 (28.75 ton ha-1) yang melebihi Atlantik dan Granola sebagai pembanding.
