Abstract

Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death in the world including Indonesia, which can occur anytime and anywhere. The causes vary, ranging from fatigue, and underlying health conditions, to traffic accidents. Basic Life Support (BLS) is the initial step that can be taken to restore respiratory and circulatory function in individuals experiencing respiratory or cardiac arrest. It is important for online motorcycle taxi drivers to possess these skills, as they often spend time on the road and interact with various people in different situations. Perhimpunan Dokter Spesialis Anesthesiology dan Terapi Intensif (PERDATIN) North Sumatra Branch concluded a series of Kursus Penyegar dan Penambah Ilmu Anestesia (KPPIA) by providing basic life support training to 521 public transport or online motorcycle taxi drivers in the city of Medan on September 29, 2024. Held at the Gedung Serba Guna of the North Sumatra Provincial Government, the participants were divided into 52 groups guided directly by anesthesiologist specialists as instructors. By providing this education and training, they can be better prepared to face emergency situations on the road, thereby enhancing safety and service for passengers

Abstract

Background : Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a new type of Coronavirus that is transmitted to humans that attacks the respiratory system and manifests as inflammation of the lung parenchyma. CT-Scan can be used as an alternative diagnostic measure to find out the radiological picture of COVID-19 patients. Neutrophils are present in many acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)-associated lung diseases, as influenza virus and SARS-CoV-1 infection. Neutrophil activation and degranulation occur in SARS infection. The immune response that occurs in COVID-19 patients with severe clinical trials can be found in lower lymphocyte counts. Decreases in helper T cells, suppressor T cells, and regulatory T cells are found in patients with COVID-19, with higher levels of T helper and regulatory T cells. low in severe cases. Research Objectives: To find out whether there is a relationship between CT-Scan Lung images and Lymphocyte and Neutrophil Levels in SARS-CoV-2 Patients, Research Methods: The type of research carried out is observational analytic measurement, with a cross sectional design the researcher makes observations or measurements of variables at certain times. Results: The frequency distribution on CT-Scan images of the lungs of SARS-CoV-2 patients was found to be the most GGO accompanied by infiltrates with a frequency of 22 people (38.6%) and the frequency distribution of Lymphocyte and Neutrophil levels in SARS-CoV-2 patients. The highest number of lymphocytes in patients with SARS-CoV-2 was normal with a frequency of 27 people (47.4%) and Neutrophil levels increased with a frequency of 24 people (42.1%). In the analysis there was a significant relationship between CT-Scan images of the lungs and lymphocyte levels, p-values = 0.013 and in Neutrophils with CT-Scan images of lungs of SARS-CoV-2 patients, there was no significant relationship with p-values = 0.092 Conclusion:There is a relationship between the CT-Scan images of the lungs of SARS-CoV-2 patients and the levels of lymphocytes and there is no relationship between the CT-Scan images of the lungs of SARS-CoV-2 patients and the levels of neutrophils in the body.

CT Scan can be used as an alternative diagnostic measure to find out the radiological picture of COVID19 patients. monocytes/macrophages can serve as reservoirs which, consequently, will serve as vectors of virus spread to other tissues, but this has not been proven in SARS-CoV-2. Inflammation is an important body mechanism to protect itself from foreign objects. During this process, cells release various proinflammatory cytotoxins, including active-phase proteins such as CRP (C-Reactive Protein) and fibrinogen. Then, the increase in fibrinogen levels further becomes a factor that increases the ESR. Research Objectives: To determine whether there is a relationship between CTScan Lung images and Monocyte Levels and ESR in SARS-CoV-2 patients. Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a global health crisis characterized by insulin resistance and pancreatic -cell failure, largely driven by chronic low-grade inflammation. Elevated pro-inflammatory markers, particularly TNF- and IL-6, disrupt insulin signaling. While conventional oral hypoglycemics are effective, their long-term use is often hindered by adverse effects. Pandanus amaryllifolius and Syzygium polyanthum are polyphenol-rich medicinal plants with significant antioxidant potential. This study evaluates the in vivo efficacy of a combined ethanolic extract of these plants in reducing TNF-, IL-6, and HOMA-IR levels, alongside in silico validation of their bioactive compounds. An experimental posttest-only control group design was employed using HFD-STZ-induced male Wistar rats. Key parameters included blood glucose, HOMA-IR, inflammatory cytokines, and pancreatic histopathology. Molecular docking was conducted to analyze the interaction between bioactive compounds and glucose metabolism receptors. The combined extracts significantly suppressed systemic inflammation, marked by a substantial reduction in TNF- and IL-6. This correlated with improved insulin sensitivity and lower HOMA-IR values. Histopathologically, the 200 mg/kg BW dose showed the most significant recovery of the islets of Langerhans. In silico analysis confirmed that flavonoids like quercetin exhibit strong binding affinities to target proteins. The combination of P. amaryllifolius and S. polyanthum acts as a potent anti-inflammatory and insulin sensitizer, offering a promising adjuvant therapy for T2DM management.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of ethanolic extract form Celery leaves (Apium graveolens L.) on hyperpigmented Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus sp.) induced by Azidothymidine (AZT). Celery leaves are known to contain bioactive compounds which may serve as potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agents. About 30 male Wistar rats were divided into five groups, including a positive control, a negative control, and groups treated with various doses (1%, 3% and 5%) of celery leaf extract. The study examined inflammation indicators such as MDA, TNF-α, and IL-6. Celery leaf extract significantly (P<0.001) reduced MDA, TNF-α, and IL-6 levels in rats, demonstrating its capacity to attenuate inflammation and oxidative stress produced by AZT. With the increase in celery leaf extract concentration from 1% to 5%, MDA, IL-6 and TNF-α levels decreased from 42.083 ± 3.49 to 28.277 ± 10.27 nmol/ml, 14.588 ± 3.38 to 4.539 ± 1.40 nmol/ml and 667.614 ± 143.41 to 326.920 ± 62.72 nmol/ml respectively. Histopathological examinations demonstrated improvements in skin tissues damaged by inflammation. The results indicate that an ethanol extract of celery leaves has the potential to be an efficient anti-inflammatory drug, notably in lowering AZT-induced inflammation and hyperpigmentation. Further research is required to explore its clinical applicability in controlling inflammatory diseases in human.
