Abstract

Statistics learning plays an important role in developing students’ data literacy, particularly their abilities in data representation and interpretation. However, statistics instruction at the secondary school level remains largely procedural, providing limited opportunities for students to understand data contextually. This study aims to explore the implementation of an infographic project in statistics learning and to examine the development of Grade X students’ data representation and interpretation skills. This research employed a qualitative approach with an exploratory design. The research subjects consisted of one group of four Grade X students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Sampang. Data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews, and analysis of students’ infographic artifacts. Data analysis involved data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through technique and source triangulation. The results indicate that the infographic project supports students in representing data in various visual forms and interpreting data by identifying patterns, comparisons, and contextual meanings. These findings suggest that the infographic project has the potential to serve as an alternative approach to statistics learning that promotes active student engagement and the development of data literacy skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa dalam Sistem Persamaan Linear Tiga Variabel (SPLTV) melalui penerapan model pembelajaran CORE–RME (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) dalam hal gaya kognitif Field Independent (FI) dan Field Dependent (FD). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (CAR) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus pada siswa kelas XA di sebuah SMA swasta di Kabupaten Malang. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika, observasi, wawancara, dan Tes Gambar Tertanam Kelompok (GEFT), kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif, kualitatif, dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model CORE–RME mampu meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa, yang ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan penguasaan dari 73,5% pada siklus I menjadi 81,4% pada siklus II. Aktivitas siswa dan implementasi pembelajaran juga meningkat pada setiap tahapan CORE–RME. Dari segi gaya kognitif, siswa FI lebih mandiri dalam mengembangkan strategi penyelesaian, sedangkan siswa FD mengalami peningkatan melalui bimbingan dan interaksi kolaboratif. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran CORE–RME efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa pada materi SPLTV dengan mengakomodasi perbedaan gaya kognitif.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in secondary education requires strengthening students' conceptual understanding and quality of thinking processes. However, students' learning practices still tend to be procedural and non-visual, so that the solutions used by students are often less adaptive and meaningless. This study aims to describe students' strategic orientation toward using the Onion Skin Method (draw the skin, peel the skin, and simplify the solution) in solving simple linear equation systems based on algebraic concepts through a Deep Learning approach. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. Sampling involved 10th-grade students at MAN 2 Lamongan in the 2025/2026 academic year, who were selected using purposive sampling with 3 students taken from each level (high, medium, and low). Data were collected through observation, test result analysis, and reflection to explore the reasons for choosing the method. The results showed that students' solution method orientation developed gradually. As the material became more difficult, students consciously began to integrate the Onion Skin Method as an advanced method for problem solving. This method was chosen because it helped students organize the steps of the solution systematically, neatly, and meaningfully, thereby minimizing procedural errors in complex problems. The steps of the Onion Skin Method make students feel visually mindful and joyful, so that the application of the Deep Learning Approach plays an important role in fostering metacognitive awareness. Finally, it can be concluded that the Onion Skin Method with the Deep Learning approach is a tool that is integrated with a deep understanding of algebraic concepts in solving simple linear equations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran soal kontekstual dalam mendukung proses berpikir siswa pada materi persamaan kuadrat. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 9 siswa kelas X yang dipilih secara purposif berdasarkan kemampuan matematika (tinggi, sedang, rendah). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis (3 soal kontekstual), wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan observasi. Analisis data mengikuti model Miles & Huberman serta diuji keabsahannya dengan triangulasi teknik dan sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa soal kontekstual berperan positif dalam: (1) membantu siswa memahami masalah melalui keterkaitan dengan pengalaman nyata, (2) memicu proses pemodelan matematika meskipun masih menjadi tantangan terbesar, (3) mendorong fleksibilitas strategi penyelesaian pada siswa kemampuan tinggi dan sedang, serta (4) menumbuhkan kemampuan verifikasi solusi dalam konteks, terutama pada siswa kemampuan tinggi. Siswa kemampuan rendah masih mengalami hambatan signifikan pada tahap pemodelan dan verifikasi. Dengan demikian, soal kontekstual turut berperan dalam mendukung proses berpikir siswa secara bertahap, namun peran tersebut terlihat berbeda pada siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan matematika awal yang berbeda. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan pembelajaran matematika kontekstual melalui identifikasi tahapan berpikir siswa berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan matematika.

Abstract

Mathematical proof plays an essential role in developing students’ reasoning and higher-order thinking skills; however, secondary mathematics instruction often remains procedural, limiting meaningful reasoning development. This study explores students’ reasoning paths in proving the sine rule through Problem-Based Learning. A qualitative case study was conducted in a trigonometry learning context using Problem-Based Learning. Data were collected through classroom observations, analysis of students’ worksheets, and in-depth interviews, and analyzed thematically based on stages of mathematical proof. The results show that students’ reasoning paths develop dynamically through three stages conjecturing, justifying, and concluding. During conjecturing, students formulate initial conjectures based on problem understanding and connections to trigonometric concepts. The justifying stage involves developing and validating conjectures through argumentation, representations, mathematical manipulations, and reasoning supported by social interaction. In concluding, students formulate the sine rule and reflect on the validity of the proof process. Overall, the findings indicate that Problem-Based Learning provides a supportive context for fostering meaningful mathematical proof reasoning.

Abstract

Fractions often present conceptual difficulties for students when instruction is dominated by procedural, teacher-centered approaches. This study aims to explain how Problem-Based Learning (PBL) assisted by Google Sites is implemented in fraction material and to explore students' responses and experiences during the process. This study used a descriptive qualitative design, with ten seventh-grade students at a Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Banyuwangi Regency selected as subjects through purposive sampling. Data were collected via classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model (data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing). Data validity was established through technique and source triangulation. The results show that PBL assisted by Google Sites was implemented consistently according to PBL syntax, with Google Sites functioning effectively as a digital medium supporting independent and collaborative learning. Students generally showed positive responses and active engagement, though differences in ability and conceptual understanding remained challenges. Integrating PBL with simple digital media like Google Sites can support meaningful, student-centered fraction learning.

Abstract

Mathematical creative thinking is a higher-order thinking competency that is essential in developing mathematics olympiads because it requires the ability to produce non-routine solutions flexibly, originally, and elaborately. This study aims to describe in depth the mathematical creative thinking profile of students on the mathematics olympiad team at the junior high school level through the application of project-based assessment on the subject of algebra olympiads. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of three students on the mathematics olympiad team who were selected purposively. Data collection was carried out through open-ended algebra tests, project assignments, observations, and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis focused on four indicators of mathematical creative thinking: fluency, flexibility, originality, and detail, with data validity maintained through triangulation of techniques and assessors. The results showed that each subject had a different mathematical creative thinking profile. Project-based assessment was able to facilitate the emergence of a variety of solution strategies, original solutions, and reflection on the mathematical thinking process, especially in students who were actively involved in the project implementation. These findings provide an empirical contribution to the development of authentic assessment in the context of developing mathematics olympiads and enrich the study of mathematical creative thinking in algebraic material.

Abstract

Perguruan tinggi harus mereformulasi visi, misi dan tradisi yang berorientasi pada efisiensi dan profesionalisme guna membangun dan menghasilkan lulusan yang kompetitif. Universitas Islam Malang, termasuk di dalamnya Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika merupakan salah satu lembaga pendidikan yang turut andil dalam menyiapkan generasi unggul yang mampu bersaing. Setiap orang mempunyai cara yang unik untuk menyelesaikan persoalan yang dihadapinya. Mahasiswa termasuk individu unik yang mempunyai eksistensi dan memiliki jiwa sendiri, serta mempunyai hak untuk tumbuh dan berkembang secara optimal sesuai dengan iramanya masing-masing yang khas yang dinamakan potensi kecerdasan. Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Islam Malang memiliki tantangan untuk bisa menghasilkan tenaga terampil yang dibutuhkan oleh lapangan kerja dan menghasilkan inovasi yang bisa memberikan manfaat ekonomis secara langsung bagi masyarakat. Tentu, hal ini akan sangat dipengaruhi oleh faktor multiple intelligences yang menjadi kecenderungan setiap individu. Abstract

Salah satu upaya dalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika dapat dilakukan dengan dukungan media pembelajaran yang sesuai dalam proses belajar-mengajar. Tujuan penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar dalam bentuk multimedia interaktif untuk pembelajaran mata kuliah Teori Graph yang diharapkan dapat membantu mahasiswa mendapatkan materi Graph Euler dan Graph Hamilton. Selain itu, bahan ajar yang dihasilkan diharapkan dapat mengatasi minimnya bahan ajar yang tersedia di Jurusan Matematika FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang, sekaligus dapat digunakan oleh dosen dan mahasiswa sebagai salah satu sumber belajar untuk mata kuliah Teori Graph.

Abstract

Peranan Statistika sebagai salah satu bidang ilmu yang berfungsi untuk merencanakan, mengumpulkan, menganalisis, menginterpretasi, dan merepresentasikan data sebagai dasar untuk pengambilan keputusan sangat penting bagi perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi. Oleh karena itu, tidak mengherankan jika Statistika banyak digunakan dalam berbagai disiplin ilmu lain, antara lain ilmu alam, ilmu sosial, maupun ilmu humaniora. Mengingat tidak semua pengguna statistika memiliki latar belakang pendidikan Matematika, maka penggunaan alat bantu program SPSS menjadi alternatif yang patut dipertimbangkan. Sayangnya, dalam aplikasinya, pengguna SPSS lebih banyak sekedar mengikuti langkah-langkah prosedural tanpa memahami mengapa mereka melakukan hal tersebut. Dampaknya, pengguna SPSS banyak yang merasa kesulitan dalam melakukan analisis data statistik dan semakin tidak menyukai statistika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi kecemasan statistik pada mahasiswa yang menggunakan SPSS. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan mayoritas mahasiswa dalam penelitian ini (n = 105, 73,4%) tidak menunjukkan kecemasan terhadap statistik melalui empat domain utama yang diukur. Tiga puluh satu siswa (21,7%) menunjukkan kecemasan dalam satu domain, empat siswa (2,8%) menunjukkan kecemasan dalam dua domain dan tiga siswa (2,1%) menunjukkan kecemasan dalam tiga domain. Tidak ada siswa dalam penelitian ini yang menunjukkan kecemasan pada keempat domain sekaligus yang diukur. The role of Statistics as one of the fields of science that functions to plan, collect, analyze, interpret, and represent data as a basis for decision making is very important for the development of science and technology. Therefore, it is not surprising that Statistics is widely used in various other disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Given that not all statistical users have a Mathematics education background, the use of SPSS program tools is an alternative that should be considered. Unfortunately, in the application, SPSS users are more just following procedural steps without understanding why they are doing it. The impact is that many SPSS users find it difficult to analyze statistical data and increasingly dislike statistics. This study aims to determine statistical anxiety conditions in students using SPSS. The results of this study indicate that the majority of students in this study (n = 105, 73.4%) did not show statistics anxiety through the four main domains measured. Thirty-one students (21.7%) showed anxiety in one domain, four students (2.8%) showed anxiety in two domains and three students (2.1%) showed anxiety in three domains. There were no students in this study who showed anxiety in all four domains as well as being measured.
