Abstract

Student behavior and attitudes during learning, namely still seen as passive, easily bored, less involved, and often ignore teacher explanations when receiving lesson materials. This is caused by materials that only utilize monotonous learning media, are less innovative, and only rely on reading books for learning. The latest learning media are needed in learning. This study aims to develop Wordwall media with a Gameshow-Quiz type to enhance the learning interest of fourth-grade students in elementary school, specifically focusing on the subject of IPAS. This study employs the Dick and Carey model of research and development methodology. The sample in this research was a purposive sampling from fourth-grade classes. Data collection in this study involves the use of student interest questionnaires focused on the IPAS subject. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the development of learning media to enhance students' interest in IPAS achieves an average final score of 90%, indicating a mastery level among students. The feasibility of the learning media, evaluated by content experts and media specialists, confirms its validity and suitability for educational use.

This has an impact on students having difficulty working in groups, communicating, solving problems, and making decisions as the right solution to a problem. The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze whether there is a difference in learning interest and science problem-solving ability of students who use educational comics and students who do not use educational comics (2) to analyze the influence of educational comics on the increase in learning interest and science problem-solving ability in students. This research is expected to provide data about the use of comics in improving students' problem-solving abilities and interest in learning. This research was carried out with the research subject in the form of 5th grade elementary school students. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control design. The data collection method uses research instruments in the form of questionnaires and tests. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive analysis. Based on the hypothesis test, the independent t-test with a significant level (a) of 0.05 obtained a significance value of 0.000 and the paired sample t-test with a significance level of (a) 0.05 obtained a significance value of 0.000. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a difference in learning interest and science problem-solving ability between students who use educational comics and students who do not use educational comics, educational comics also affect the increase in learning interest and science problem-solving skills of 5th grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Many lower-grade students have difficulty understanding lessons due to their limited proficiency in Indonesian, while they are more fluent and confident in communicating in their native language. This study aims to produce mother tongue animated videos for communication skills for second grade elementary school students. This research is a development study utilizing the ADDIE model. The research subjects include one content expert, instructional media expert, instructional design expert, one language expert, three individual test students, and 15 small group test students. Product development data were collected through questionnaires, and communication skill data were obtained through observations during product implementation. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The development results of mother tongue animated videos from experts showed that the material testing result was 90% in the very good category, media expert 89% in the good category, design expert 92% in the very good category, and language expert 90% in the very good category. Meanwhile, the individual test result was 92% in the very good category, the small group test 83% in the good category, and the significant group test 80% in the good category. Observation of student communication skills during mother tongue animated video media implementation yielded 83% in the good category, 12% in the fair category, and 5% in the poor category. These results impact students' ability to express opinions, ideas, and thoughts using the language they currently master. This study recommends that mother tongue-based animated video media can shape communication skills in elementary school students.

Abstract

Education is a key factor in improving individuals' quality of life and thinking abilities. However, there are still many challenges in implementing effective learning models, especially at the elementary school level. This study aims to explore and compare the influence of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model and the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, supported by diorama media, on students' creative thinking abilities. This research employed an experimental method with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design, involving 44 fourth-grade elementary school students, divided into Class IVA (21 students) and Class IVB (23 students). Data were collected through essay tests consisting of 10 questions about animal life cycles. The research instruments included question sheets and observation sheets. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics, including normality tests, variance homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The results showed that the PjBL model was more effective in improving creative thinking skills, with an average score of 75.86 compared to CTL, which only reached 67.14. This study concludes that implementing the PjBL model with the support of diorama media can enrich the learning experience and stimulate students' creativity. The implication of this interactive and collaborative learning model is an increase in student engagement and motivation in the learning process.

Abstract

The minimum skill of students in critical thinking to solve a problem can be an obstacle in teaching and learning processes and development of their intellectual potential. This research aims to analyze how much influence the cooperative learning type group investigation model has on student critical thinking skills in social studies courses. This research uses a quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 63 with 34 students (experimental class) and 29 students (control class). Data were collected through observation method and tests (pre-test and post-test). Data were analysed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques, while hypothesis testing was conducted using the Wilcoxon method. The results showed that the hypothesis tested via Wilcoxon test was in the control class where the analysis results indicated a significance value of 0.071 in the control group and a significance value of >0.001 in the experimental group. Thus, the result in the experimental class is >0.001 which is >0.05, there is a difference in the group investigation type cooperative learning model on students' critical thinking skills in class A6-23. The results indicated that group investigation, as a cooperative learning model is effective in improving student critical thinking skills.

Abstract

History education in primary schools should impart the noble values of the past, but it is often one-sided and lacks media, creating a passive and monotonous learning experience. This study aims to develop a non-digital board game integrated with role-playing features to promote the application of heroic values through social interactions among students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the 4D development model. The development process involved four experts, four teachers, and 30 Phase C students (grades 5 and 6) from two elementary schools in Bukittinggi City and Agam Regency. Data were collected through observation sheets, interviews, and questionnaires. Based on expert evaluations during the Develop stage, the role-play-integrated board game achieved an average validity score of 90.2% for instructional aspects and 87.3% for technical media aspects. Quantitative testing during the Develop stage indicated high practicality, with average scores of 93.1% from student questionnaires and 94.5% from teacher questionnaires. In conclusion, the role-play-integrated board game developed in this study is deemed valid and practical for use in teaching history to Phase C students. Future research could examine the effectiveness of this board game in enhancing various social skills closely tied to social interaction, such as collaboration, competition, and others.
