Abstract

Former Indonesian Migrant Workers in Malang Regency have experience, skills, and global networks. However, many of them face challenges in building sustainable businesses due to limitations in financial management, business insight, and lack of community support and use of digital technology. This condition encourages some of them to return to work abroad due to their inability to develop their businesses independently. Therefore, effective training are urgently needed, with a focus on developing local-based entrepreneurship, simple but applicable financial literacy, and digital marketing strategies. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of such training in improving business skills and financial literacy among former migrant workers. This program is designed using the ADDIE model, involving 35 participants from Bantur District, Malang Regency, with the training being implemented in March 2025. Evaluation through pre-test and post-test showed a significant increase in financial literacy and business skills, as reflected in the average pre-test score of 52.29 and an increase in the post-test of 76.57. With a relevant and needs-based approach, this initiative aims to strengthen the local economy in Malang Regency, increase the independence of Former Indonesian Migrant, and encourage their social contribution in building a more empowered community. The training also lays the foundation for sustainable local business growth by equipping participants with practical tools to build, manage, and expand their enterprises.

Abstract

The use of over-the-counter (OTC) and pharmacy-only medicines has significantly increased due to their easy accessibility and the growing trend of self-medication. However, improper use of these medicines can lead to adverse effects, drug interactions, and even resistance. This community service activity aimed to raise public awareness about the rational and safe use of medicines, particularly OTC and pharmacy-only medicines. The activity was conducted using participatory education methods, including the delivery of material on drug classifications, simulation of reading drug labels and understanding usage instructions, as well as interactive sessions such as Q&A and consultations with pharmacists. The evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure participants’ knowledge before and after the educational session. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge regarding the identification of drug types, label reading, and proper usage instructions. Additionally, participants demonstrated increased awareness of the risks associated with improper medication use and the importance of consulting pharmacists before taking OTC or pharmacy-only medicines. This activity highlights the essential role of pharmacists in public health education and emphasizes the need for structured, interactive educational strategies to promote responsible self-medication practices. Collaboration between healthcare professionals and the community is key to ensuring the safe and appropriate use of non-prescription medicines

Abstract

Batu Berdaun Village on Singkep Island, Lingga Regency, Riau Islands Province, faces serious challenges in developing sustainable livestock after the end of the tin mining era. The main problems include the decline in the Bali cattle population due to limited forage feed, the farmers’ limited knowledge of cattle fattening management, and the lack of utilization of livestock waste as fertilizer. Through a community engagement program, the solutions offered included training in the cultivation of odot grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott) as the main source of feed on former mining sandy lands, compost production from cow and chicken manure, and feed fermentation technology to increase nutritional value and production efficiency. The methods applied consisted of problem identification through interviews and observations, participatory training, and field demonstrations. The program results showed an increase in farmers’ understanding of forage cultivation, waste management, and sustainable cattle fattening techniques. This initiative is expected to encourage the independence of livestock groups in building a productive and competitive livestock system on post-mining coastal land.

Abstract

The potential of rice straw in Pesisir Selatan Regency can be utilized to ammoniate straw as a solution to providing feed for ruminants. The abundance of agricultural waste can address livestock problems in Pesisir Selatan Regency during the dry season. The dry season makes the availability of forage stocks low. Through fermentation in ammoniation technology, straw waste can be used. The activity began with discussion, socialization, demonstration, and evaluation of the activity results. Fermented feed, such as straw ammoniation, has advantages and disadvantages. Ammoniated straw can increase digestibility, nutritional value, and long shelf life. The characteristics of good ammoniated straw are that it turns brownish yellow or does not change much from the color of the straw, when opened, it smells quite pungent of ammonia, the texture of the rice straw is soft, not rotten, and not moldy. Ammoniation as an alternative feed has high potential in supporting healthy and efficient livestock production. Community Service activities are an important step in encouraging sustainable agriculture and livestock.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental stage marked by physical, psychological, emotional, and social transitions that increase vulnerability to mental health challenges. Internal and external stressors such as academic pressure, peer relationships, and the school environment can heighten the risk of psychological distress. This community service program was conducted on 28 May 2025 at SMKN 1 Lembah Gumanti, Solok, West Sumatra, through collaboration between the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Andalas, and the school community. The program aimed to increase awareness of adolescent mental health and promote preventive strategies through school-based education. The intervention was delivered in three phases: (1) screening and problem assessment using the SRQ-29, (2) educational sessions, and (3) stress management workshops. A total of 196 Grade XI students participated. Pre-test and post-test results demonstrated measurable improvements in knowledge of adolescent mental health (Mean pre-test = 7.69, SD = 1.89; Mean post-test = 8.49, SD = 1.91). Students also reported increased awareness of internal (resilience, emotional regulation, mindfulness) and external (peer support, school environment) factors influencing mental health, as well as confidence in applying stress management techniques. These findings underscore the importance of school-based interventions in raising awareness, strengthening coping skills, and preventing mental health problems among adolescents. Future programs may expand by incorporating peer-support models such as student mental health ambassadors to ensure sustainability and long-term impact.

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health issues are an essential issue that needs special attention, especially in terms of increasing knowledge as an effort to prevent the risk of risky behaviors. This community service program aims to determine the effectiveness of the reproductive health education program in increasing the level of knowledge of adolescent members of the Youth Red Cross (YRC) at SMAN 16 Padang. Community service activities are carried out by providing reproductive health education to Youth Red Cross (YRC) teenage members, totaling 44 people. The instrument used is a questionnaire to measure the level of knowledge before and after the implementation of the educational program. Data were analyzed using a statistical paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant increase in adolescents' knowledge levels after participating in the education program (p < 0.05). Thus, the reproductive health education program has proven effective in increasing the knowledge of YRC adolescents at SMAN 16 Padang. It is hoped that similar programs can be implemented sustainably as part of school health promotion efforts.
