Abstract

The issue of waste burning in Mamboro Barat Village remains a serious environmental concern, particularly due to limited access to adequate waste collection services and a lack of public awareness regarding the negative impacts of such practices. This community service initiative aims to enhance public knowledge and skills in environmentally friendly organic waste management through education and training in composting. The activity was conducted on 5 June 2025 and targeted the general public as well as participants of the Padat Karya programme. The implementation method was divided into three stages: preparation (coordination, material development, and logistics preparation), implementation (pre-test administration, educational lectures using PowerPoint presentations, composting training using vegetable scraps and dry leaves, and technical guidance), and evaluation (post-test to measure knowledge improvement). A total of 35 participants attended the entire series of activities. The pre-test results showed an average score of 59.66, which increased to 79.69 in the post-test, with an average improvement of 20.03 points. In addition to knowledge enhancement, participants also gained practical skills in processing organic waste into compost and increased awareness of the importance of sustainable waste management. Students actively participated as mentors and facilitators, strengthening the connection between educational institutions and the community. This activity made a positive contribution to fostering environmentally friendly behaviour through direct community involvement and capacity building. Active community participation in education and training has proven effective in driving behavioural change and opening opportunities for the development of community-based waste management systems in the future.

Abstract

Organic waste such as egg shells is one of the environmental problems. Piling and mixed waste conditions will cause air and soil pollution. The purpose of this Community Service is to provide education on the use of egg shells, handling organic waste that can be used as fertilizer and ecopreneurship to the community in Mendale Village, Central Aceh. The number of partners who attended was 20 people consisting of mothers, the general public and village officials. The Community Service method used was in the form of counseling and demonstrations of processing egg shell waste into organic fertilizer. To measure the level of knowledge of partners, Pre-Test and Post-Test Forms were used. Meanwhile, to assess the success of the event, an evaluation form was used. The results of the increase in knowledge from the Pre-Test and Post-Test showed that partners had experienced an increase in knowledge on statements about benefits and new partners learned that egg shells can be eaten, and egg shells have added value, each 100%. After the implementation of the activity, partners learned that egg shells can be processed into organic fertilizer that can be used by them on plantation land and can increase income if it is run as an environmentally friendly business or called ecopreneurship. The evaluation conducted by partners on the implementation showed that partners felt very much in agreement with the program being held. Several statements that gave the highest 'Strongly Agree' score were regarding the appropriate theme, complete and sequential or gradual material, each 100%. Partners participated in the event enthusiastically. Further training is needed on financial management and marketing of organic fertilizers produced for optimal results

Abstract

Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (UU-PKDRT) is an important legal basis for protecting the rights of victims of domestic violence. However, its implementation still faces social barriers in the form of the perception that domestic violence is a private matter that should not be revealed in the public sphere. This condition results in low reporting rates and weak protection for victims, especially women. This community service activity aims to increase legal awareness of residents of Karang Mumus Village, Samarinda City, regarding the issue of domestic violence through a participatory and educational legal socialization approach. The method used is descriptive qualitative with active involvement of residents in discussions, delivery of legal materials, and case studies of domestic violence that occurred in the surrounding area. This activity involved various community elements such as PKK mothers, students, village officials, and local leaders. The results of the activity showed an increase in community understanding of the forms of domestic violence, reporting mechanisms, and the importance of social support for victims. In addition, this activity succeeded in eroding the stigma that reporting violence is an embarrassing act. This outreach not only provides citizens with legal information but also fosters the courage to speak out against injustice and fight for their basic rights. These findings underscore the importance of community-based legal education as a long-term strategy for building legal awareness, empowering women, and promoting more just and equitable social change.

Abstract

This community service project aims to develop an innovative model of English language learning for young Muslim learners by integrating Islamic values into thematic instructional materials. The initiative responds to the need for culturally and religiously relevant English education in early childhood settings. Through a participatory action approach, the project designed storybooks, illustrated vocabulary cards, Islamic-themed songs, and activity worksheets, and implemented them in collaboration with local Islamic learning centers. The materials focused on themes such as the Five Pillars of Islam, daily prayers, good manners (akhlaq), and Prophet stories. Results showed increased vocabulary acquisition, active engagement from children, and improved teaching confidence among educators. This model offers a replicable and sustainable approach to promoting both language development and moral education simultaneously. The project contributes to the growing field of culturally responsive pedagogy and provides practical resources for educators seeking to integrate language instruction with faith-based values.

Abstract

Caramel Legendz Banana is a snack business made from bananas wrapped in skin with sugar and chocolate powder filling, then fried until crispy. This business has great potential but still faces various problems, such as the absence of a banner or a clear business name so that it is not well known to buyers, the packaging is still simple and not attractive, the absence of a menu list with prices, the absence of new flavor innovations, financial records that are not routine, and promotions that only rely on sales at the location without the support of other media. To overcome this, mentoring activities were carried out by students which included making banners and business names, improving packaging design, compiling menu lists, developing new flavor variants, simple financial recording training, and promotions through registering business locations on Google Maps so that they are more easily accessible and known to the public. The results of the activities showed significant changes, namely that the business now has a clearer identity, more attractive product packaging, a menu list that helps buyers, new flavor variants that increase consumer interest, financial records that are starting to be implemented more regularly, and promotions that are increasingly widespread thanks to their presence on Google Maps. Overall, this mentoring has succeeded in improving the quality and competitiveness of the business, helping to strengthen management, and supporting Caramel Legendz Banana so that it is better known and able to develop independently.

Abstract

Generation Z grows up in a dynamic digital ecosystem that presents unique challenges for the education sector, particularly in learning styles and psychosocial needs. This situation requires guidance and counseling (GC) teachers not only to be adaptive to technological advances but also to possess adequate mental health literacy to provide optimal services. At the same time, GC teachers themselves are vulnerable to psychological pressures due to heavy workloads. The Association of Guidance and Counseling Teachers (MGBK) plays a strategic role in strengthening teachers’ professionalism while encouraging them to become agents of change in promoting students’ mental health. This community service program aimed to enhance GC teachers’ knowledge and skills through mental health literacy training. The training was conducted on April 23, 2025, at the hall of SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta, involving GC teachers from high schools across Surakarta City who are members of MGBK. The program consisted of a pretest, material delivery, and posttest. Training materials covered fundamental concepts of mental health literacy, promotive and preventive strategies, skills in early detection and initial intervention, strengthening counseling services to support school programs and character building, as well as developing empathetic communication skills in counseling sessions. The results showed an increase in teachers’ knowledge and awareness of mental health issues in schools. These findings highlight the effectiveness of the training in enhancing the competencies of GC teachers as school-based mental health agents. In the future, continuous mentoring and the integration of mental health literacy into technology-based counseling services are needed to better address the needs of 21st-century students.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders can occur in various levels, ranging from mild to severe. These musculoskeletal disorders usually occur due to work factors or conditions in the workplace such as improper posture, static, and repetitive activities, and can also come from physical exposure such as temperature and vibration. Musculo Skeletal Diseases (MSDs) is a group term for several diseases and injuries to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and bones. MSDs can affect the back, cervical area, and upper and lower extremities, resulting in pain and disability. Data obtained from the Head of RW 003 Joho Kidul Environment, Giriwono Village, Wonogiri, stated that many residents of Joho Kidul Environment have complaints of musculoskeletal pain such as shoulder pain, back pain, knee pain, and other pain. This can be caused by a lack of knowledge about musculoskeletal pain and efforts to treat it independently. Counseling is needed to increase knowledge about musculoskeletal pain and independent treatment efforts, as well as the need for appropriate health service facilities to help reduce musculoskeletal pain complaints in residents in order to improve quality of life and work productivity. Results: the presence of participants during 1 activity was 85 participants. The gender of participants/residents in community service was 34 men and 51 women. The average age of participants was 56 years, average weight 59 kg, average height 155 cm, according to BMI, 21% of participants were overweight and 17% were obese. As many as 30% of participants had diabetes (GDP> 125), 26% of male participants suffered from high uric acid (> 7.0 mg / dL), 37% of female participants suffered from high uric acid (> 6.0 mg / dL). There were 36 participants who underwent acupuncture therapy with complaints of musculoskeletal pain. Conclusion: Community service with counseling and self-empowerment as well as acupuncture services for musculoskeletal pain sufferers can increase knowledge about the causes and self-prevention efforts and can help serve musculoskeletal pain sufferers with acupuncture therapy for residents of RW 003 Joho Kidul Environment, Giriwono Village, Wonogiri

Abstract

This community service was carried out in Kayumalue Ngapa Village, North Palu District, focusing on education and early detection of degenerative diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and other metabolic disorders. The main problem in this area is the low level of public awareness of healthy lifestyles and the lack of regular health check-ups, which leads to a high risk of degenerative diseases. The activities included health education and blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid screenings for local residents. A total of 20 participants took part in the programme, which also included pre- and post-tests to measure knowledge improvement. The results showed an average score increase from 3.9 to 7.9, indicating the success of the educational intervention. Health screenings revealed that most participants had high risk factors for degenerative diseases, although they had not yet shown severe clinical symptoms. These findings underscore the importance of early detection and community-based preventive interventions. This activity successfully improved community health knowledge and awareness and demonstrated that a participatory, educational, and evidence-based approach is an effective strategy for reducing the risk of degenerative diseases in the community. This programme is recommended for integration into routine primary health care activities and expansion to other areas with similar issues.

Abstract

Indramayu, situated on the northern coast of Java, is a region rich in natural resources, as well as significant tourism and local cultural potential. Indramayu's distinctive batik, often referred to as Batik Paoman, along with culinary delights such as pindang gombyang, nasi lengko, mango dodol, and kue koci, are highly appealing tourist attractions that warrant greater promotion. Unfortunately, much of this potential remains underdeveloped, thus failing to significantly boost the local economy. Consequently, from 2020 to 2023, Indramayu became one of Indonesia's largest senders of migrant workers. This can be attributed to the insufficient empowerment of local communities to establish businesses, leading them to seek employment abroad. To elevate Indramayu's tourism and local cultural potential, a destination branding campaign is essential. Through destination branding, Indramayu's tourism potential can be effectively communicated and leveraged as a unique strength to differentiate it from other regions, thereby attracting both local and international tourists. This initiative has the potential to enhance Indramayu's competitiveness and public trust. This community service program aims to educate local press journalists, who serve as the vanguard of online mass media reporting, about destination branding. Journalists received dedicated sessions covering the intricacies of destination branding and best practices for Indramayu, which they subsequently reported on in online media. There was also a practical "door stop" session where journalists practiced eliciting insights related to the destination branding material presented. Sixteen journalists participated in this community service program. As a result, the journalists actively engaged with questions and developed a more comprehensive understanding of Indramayu's destination branding, enabling them to produce positive news reports about Indramayu.
