Abstract

Background: COVID-19 is a disease that can infect everyone, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly with hypertension. Various educational institutions have carried out COVID-19 transmission, but they are still one-way and not very effective in suppressing COVID-19 spread. Therefore, in this study, health education will be conducted using the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method so that this study aims to determine the effect of health education with the focus group discussion method on the behavior of the elderly with hypertension in preventing COVID-19. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with 56 respondents for two groups (intervention group = 28 and control group = 28). Multistage cluster sampling was taking samples. The research instrument was a previously tested knowledge, attitude, and skills questionnaire for validity and reliability. The study was conducted at the Muara Enim Health Center. The data collected was processed using SPSS version 25.0 and analyzed by univariate (frequency and percentage) and bivariate (paired t-test and independent t-test). Results: The results of this study indicate an effect of health education using the FGD method on the behavior of the elderly with hypertension in preventing COVID-19 (p = 0.01). Conclusion: Health education with the FGD method can improve the behavior of the elderly with hypertension. Abstract

Background: The prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in Indonesia continues to increase, even though DM control policies and programs have been implemented. According to existing policies, the family has not been involved in diabetes control. This study evaluates diabetes mellitus management policies by designing family-based community empowerment model interventions with a systems approach to surge capacity.   Methods: The design of this study used a cross-sectional operational analysis conducted in Cirebon City with 26 participants. Data collection was carried out using Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and in-depth interviews using interview guidelines from the surge capacity component. Inclusion criteria were Non-Communicable Diseases program holders at the Cirebon City Health Office and Community Health Centers with the highest and lowest prevalence, and DM sufferers and their families representing each age and gender category. Data analysis was performed using open code.   Results: The non-communicable disease program has not been integrated between the health office and the hospital; funds for the DM prevention program have not met the needs; there are limited human resources with multiple tasks and an excessive workload, so it is not optimal for DM health services; and there is a lack of family involvement in diabetes control, so the incidence of DM is still not usually controlled.   Conclusion: Policy studies using a system approach in surge capacity have been able to dig up various information on DM control efforts in terms of policy, organizational structure, DM surveillance, information systems, integrated services, case screening, budgeting, and community empowerment.

Abstract

Non-invasive blood sugar testing tools are now in great demand among the public. This research aims to develop a non-invasive blood sugar examination tool with a Photopletysmograph signal decoding system based on data acquisition from a wearable sensor device on the wrist. The tool used for data acquisition uses Near Infra Red Light-emitting Diode NIR LED 880 nm, 660 nm and 537 nm. This acquisition transfers signals from the body via a photodiode to a PC Personal Computer for processing using Matlab. The method used in this research is to look for the height of the systolic and diastolic amplitude of the Photopletysmograph PPG signal and use the peak-to-peak voltage Vpp to implement Beer Lambert's law. This method was tested on 54 people, randomly aged 26-89 years, with normal blood sugar to high blood sugar. The results show an error of 18.37% from the gold standard. In conclusion, the use of the PPG signal decoding method has proven to be significant in producing blood sugar values. Furthermore, this method was developed for real-time remote measurements via wearable sensor devices.
