Abstract

The fermentation time plays a crucial role in the development of functional properties in fermented products, including kefir. This study investigates the effect of fermentation time on the nutritional, microbiological, and sensory properties of Roselle-based kefir popsicles. Fermentation times of 0, 18, 24, and 30 hours were analyzed for changes in acidity, viscosity, turbidity, fat content, ash content, Total Phenolic Content (TPC), Total Flavonoid Content (TFC), anthocyanins, antioxidant activity, calcium concentration, and Lactobacillus spp. population. Sensory evaluation assesses consumer preferences based on appearance, mouthfeel, flavor, aroma, color, and overall acceptance. The results showed that longer fermentation times, especially 30 hours, increased acidity, viscosity, and other nutritional parameters. However, popsicles fermented for 18 hours were most preferred by consumers due to their balanced sensory attributes. This study highlights the role of fermentation time in enhancing both the nutritional value and sensory appeal of Kefir Roselle-based popsicles, suggesting their potential as functional foods.

Abstract

Rendahnya pengetahuan literasi halal pada siswa kelas VI SD Islam AZ-Zakiyah Bandung, terutama terkait isu-isu yang sedang hangat diperbincangkan di masyarakat, menjadi perhatian. Salah satu isu tersebut adalah kehalalan makanan balut, yang sedang tren di kalangan masyarakat, yaitu embrio bebek dengan organ yang telah terbentuk sempurna tetapi belum menetas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat literasi halal siswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan pendekatan Socio Scientific Issue (SSI) pada materi perkembangan embrio, khususnya kajian tentang balut, mengingat dalam Islam makanan harus memiliki kejelasan kehalalan dan kebaikannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode pra-eksperimen dengan desain one-group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 23 siswa kelas VI. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji paired t-test untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengetahuan siswa sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Siswa diberikan kuesioner berupa pertanyaan tertutup sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan dalam literasi halal siswa setelah pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan SSI.Kata Kunci: literasi halal, balut, Socio Scientific Issue, embrio

Abstract

Problems related to low scientific reasoning abilities and the application of halal lifestyle values among class VIII students on the subject of the human digestive system prompted the implementation of this research. The research aims to measure the effect of Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS)-based teaching on improving scientific reasoning and practicing halal lifestyles. The intervention was implemented through a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 MTsN 2 Subang students, with data collected through essay tests before and after the intervention and analyzed using the paired sample t-test. The results of the analysis show a significant increase in scientific reasoning scores and implementation of a halal lifestyle (significance value < 0.05), confirming the effectiveness of CPS in facilitating in-depth understanding of the human digestive system material. The discussion reveals that the CPS method triggers students' active involvement in collaborative problem solving, contributing to improving critical thinking skills and integrating halal values. These findings provide important implications for the development of innovative learning strategies as well as the integration of scientific values and halal ethics in the educational curriculum. [Permasalahan terkait rendahnya kemampuan penalaran ilmiah dan penerapan nilai gaya hidup halal di kalangan siswa kelas VIII pada materi sistem pencernaan manusia mendorong dilaksanakannya penelitian ini. Penelitian bertujuan mengukur pengaruh pengajaran berbasis Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) terhadap peningkatan nalar ilmiah dan pengamalan pola hidup halal. Intervensi diterapkan melalui desain pra-eksperimental one-group pretest-posttest yang melibatkan 30 siswa MTsN 2 Subang, dengan data dikumpulkan melalui tes esai sebelum dan sesudah intervensi serta dianalisis menggunakan uji paired sample t-test. Hasil analisis menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan skor penalaran ilmiah dan penerapan gaya hidup halal (nilai signifikansi < 0,05), menegaskan efektivitas CPS dalam memfasilitasi pemahaman mendalam terhadap materi sistem pencernaan manusia. Pembahasan mengungkapkan bahwa metode CPS memicu keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam pemecahan masalah secara kolaboratif, berkontribusi pada peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan pengintegrasian nilai-nilai halal. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi penting bagi pengembangan strategi pembelajaran inovatif serta integrasi nilai keilmuan dan etika halal dalam kurikulum Pendidikan].

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between science literacy, critical thinking skills, and students' self-awareness in learning about environmental pollution. The research method used is a quasi-experiment involving 32 seventh-grade students as respondents. Data were collected through a problem-based test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions to measure science literacy and critical thinking skills, as well as a Likert scale questionnaire to evaluate self-awareness. Data analysis was performed using multiple regression techniques. The results of the study show that science literacy and critical thinking skills have a positive and significant relationship with students' self-awareness. The better the students' science literacy and critical thinking skills, the higher their self-awareness, especially in understanding and addressing environmental issues. The conclusion of this study is that improving science literacy and critical thinking skills significantly enhances students' self-awareness, which is an important element in issue-based environmental learning. This research provides insights for educators to integrate science literacy and critical thinking skills into relevant and contextual learning strategies. This effort is expected to create a generation of students who are more aware of their roles and responsibilities in preserving the environment.

Abstract

This research aims to describe student activities during the application of project-based worksheets, analyze scientific performance, and analyze the characteristics of the resulting kaolin soap with the addition of kefir curd. The research method used is pre-experimental with a one-shot case study research design. The research subjects were 34 students of XI grade in an Islamic school in Bandung, Indonesia. The results of the research show that the percentage of student activity during the application of the worksheet is 87 in the very good category. The highest average score was 94 with a very good category at the stage of carrying out the research. The students' scientific performance ability in applying worksheets reached 86 in the very good category. The highest average score is 92 with the very good category found in the indicator for interpreting data. The results of the characterization of the kaolin soap produced follow Indonesian National standard No. 3532:2021 with a pH value of 10, the foam stability values respectively from highest to lowest are 89, 85, 83, 60, and 50%. Based on the organoleptic test, the soap has a solid texture and smells like clay with a bone-white color. This shows that the implementation of project-based worksheets can be carried out well

Abstract

This research aims to describe student activities, analyze student scientific performance at each learning stage, and analyze the characteristics of conditioners made from aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) by applying a project-based worksheet. The research method used was pre-experimental with a One-Shot Case Study design. The subjects of this research were students of class XI MIA MA Al-Jawami Cileunyi. The instruments used are learning descriptions, observation sheets, student worksheets (LKS), student scientific performance sheets and product assessment sheets. Data was obtained from observations of learning activities, filling out scientific performance sheets and product assessment sheets. The research results showed that overall student activity reached 94.8% with very good interpretation. The average value of student performance at all stages of learning by implementing project-based learning is 88.4 with good interpretation. The average value of students' scientific performance ability is 94.4 with very good interpretation. The average value of the characteristics of conditioners made from aloe vera as a whole is 98.4 with a very good interpretation. Thus, the application of project-based worksheets for making conditioner from aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) can develop students' scientific performance.

Abstract

In an era of ever-developing education, it is important to ensure that the evaluation tools used in the classroom can reflect students’ true abilities in understanding complex concepts. Measuring higher order thinking skills (HOTs) is an integral part of assessing student understanding. The aim of the research is to develop and validate a test instrument specifically designed to measure higher order thinking skills in digestive system learning at the secondary school level. The Higher Order Thinking Skills framework by Resnick, 1987 was used to develop the instrument. This research uses a Research and Development Design (R&D) approach by adapting the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, that is: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The research sample consisted of 30 class IX students at Al-Qona'ah Middle School who were selected using a simple random sampling technique. The research results showed that there were eight out of ten valid questions with high reliability that were ready to be used to comprehensively measure students' HOTs abilities.

Abstract

Inovasi Pembelajaran IPA Dengan Pendekatan Stem Pada Materi Pesawat Sederhana Melalui Pembelajaran Berdiferensiasi. Inovasi pembelajaran IPA sangat penting untuk mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi tantangan abad 21, yang menuntut keterampilan di bidang sains, teknologi, rekayasa, dan matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas pembelajaran IPA dengan pendekatan STEM pada materi pesawat sederhana melalui pembelajaran berdiferensiasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen dengan dua kelompok siswa. Kelompok pertama menerima pembelajaran STEM yang dikombinasikan dengan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi, sementara kelompok kedua hanya menggunakan pendekatan STEM. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes hasil belajar dan observasi keterlibatan siswa. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelompok (p = 0,000), di mana kelompok eksperimen menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik. Pembelajaran berdiferensiasi terbukti meningkatkan motivasi, keterlibatan, dan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam pengembangan model pembelajaran yang lebih inklusif dan adaptif.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the enhancement of students cognitive learning outcomes through the integration of Nearpod-assisted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in carboxylic acid material, as well as to describe students activities, their ability to complete worksheets, and their responses to the use of this media. This study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design and involved 48 fourth-semester students in the Organic Chemistry II course. The results indicate that learning activities were carried out very well (88.76%), students ability to complete worksheets was also high (average score: 88), and cognitive learning outcomes improved moderately (N-Gain: 0.63), with the highest achievement at the analysis level (C4). A total of 98.3% of students responded positively to the use of Nearpod in learning. These findings indicate that integrating the PBL model and Nearpod is an innovative and effective approach to enhancing cognitive learning outcomes, active participation, conceptual understanding, and higher-order thinking skills while highlighting its potential to improve the quality of chemistry education, particularly on abstract topics.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the application results of the developed digital book oriented to multiple chemical representations. The method employed in this research was the Design-Based Research (DBR) method with the ADDIE development model. The ADDIE development Model consisted of five stages to analyze, design, and develop a product. These stages covered the analysis of terpenoid material, the analysis of multiple representations of terpenoid material, and digital book design and development. The instrument used was a validation test questionnaire filled out by three validators. The result of this research is an Android-based digital book oriented to chemistry's multiple representations. The obtained robserved value was 0.83. Therefore, the developed digital book was declared valid and can be used as teaching material in the Natural Product Chemistry course.
