Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of the lack of availability of teaching materials. The main teaching materials used by students are student worksheets, while the supporting teaching materials are school textbooks. This research is a research and development using the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate approach. The purpose of this study is to produce and describe the development of a learning module for poster texts containing Riau Malay culture. Based on the research and development conducted, it is known that the analysis of the needs of the learning module for poster texts containing Riau Malay culture is categorized as very much needed. Furthermore, based on the high level of need, a product design and development in the form of a module was prepared. Overall, the validation results of the learning module for poster texts containing Riau Malay culture are categorized as very good and can be tested. The pretest and posttest values obtained from the results of the trial were then tested to determine the significance of product use. Based on the tests carried out, significant differences were obtained. Furthermore, at the evaluation stage, it was carried out based on assessments from expert validators, assessments of Indonesian language teachers, and student assessments. Overall, the assessments from the three aspects were categorized as very good. Thus, the learning module for poster texts containing Riau Malay culture that was developed is suitable for use in learning poster texts. Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan kurangnya ketersediaan bahan ajar. Bahan ajar utama yang digunakan oleh siswa adalah lembar kerja siswa, sedangkan bahan ajar pendukungnya ialah buku paket sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan dengan menggunakan pendekatan Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement, dan Evaluate. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk menghasilkan dan mendeskripsikan pengembangan modul pembelajaran teks poster bermuatan budaya Melayu Riau. Berdasarkan penelitian dan pengembangan yang dilakukan, diketahui analisis kebutuhan modul pembelajaran teks poster bermuatan budaya Melayu Riau berkategori sangat butuh. Selanjutnya, berdasarkan tingginya tingkat kebutuhan tersebut, disusunlah sebuah rancangan dan pengembangan produk berupa modul. Secara keseluruhan hasil validasi modul pembelajaran teks poster bermuatan budaya Melayu Riau berkategori sangat baik dan dapat dilakukan uji coba. Nilai pretest dan posttest yang didapatkan dari hasil uji coba selanjutnya diuji untuk mengetahui signifikansi penggunaan produk. Berdasarkan uji yang dilakukan didapatkan perbedaan yang signifikan. Selanjutnya pada tahapan evaluasi, dilakukan berdasarkan penilaian dari para validator ahli, respons pengguna (guru dan siswa). Secara keseluruhan penilaian dari tiga aspek tersebut berkategori sangat baik. Dengan demikian modul pembelajaran teks poster bermuatan budaya Melayu Riau yang dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran teks poster.

Abstract

In order to implement communicative learning activities, ateacher must be able to design various means or media so that learningprocess keeps running well. A teacher is expected not to stutter indesigning media for various learning needs. The main purpose of thisstudy is to examine the strategies done by teachers in designing media toimplement communicative learning. This research is a descriptiveresearch in which the data were collected from teachers of MadrasahAliyah Negeri (public Islamic senior high schools) in Pekanbaru city. Theresearch sample was 36 teachers. The instrument used to collect the datawas a scale questionnaire. The data were descriptively analyzed. Eachitem of the questionnaire becomes the basis and the principal of theresearch analysis. The research findings reveal that to implementcommunicative learning, the teachers designed learning media. Thestrategies they used are making use of e-learning and making use ofvarious teaching and learning facilities, creating student worksheets andcompiling teaching materials, and presenting slides or other media inaccordance with the teaching materials. Each of the strategy is set at avery high standard. The teachers’ strategy to design media at the publicschools runs well. It can be seen from the average of the strategy that is4.48 and the average belongs to very high category. The data also clearlyreveal that the teachers are creative and innovative in designing media toimplement communicative learning.

Abstract

This study is a stage in the development of e-comics assisted by figma and flipbooks on the material of reading biographical texts for high school students. This study aims to describe the analysis of student needs for learning to read biographical texts. The survey method in the research method used in this study. The data collection instrument in this study is a needs analysis questionnaire. This study uses a Likert scale to measure students' views and perceptions of the e-comics developed. This study uses a questionnaire sheet made in the form of a closed statement with a scoring range of 1 to 5. The questionnaires compiled were addressed to students in two high schools in Pekanbaru City. This sampling technique is based on the sampling quota determined by the researcher. The data analysis technique is carried out by changing the category value into an assessment score and analyzing the score. The results showed that 87.70% of students had difficulty in learning to read biographical texts and 88.74% of students wanted learning to read biographical texts to be presented with interesting and innovative media. This shows the need to compile e-comics assisted by figma and flipbooks for the material of writing argumentative texts.

Abstract

Studi semantik berusaha untuk menerangkan tentang kata atau struktur bahasa yang lebih merujuk kepada konsep makna dan bagaimana makna dapat dipahami melalui konteks. Salah satu objek kajian dari semantik adalah sarkasme, sarkasme adalah jenis gaya bahasa yang didalamnya menggunakan gaya bahasa dengan sindiran untuk mengomentari atau mengkritik seseorang atau sesuatu hal dengan menggunakan kata-kata yang kasar serta mengolok-olok. Pada penelitian ini mengkaji makna dari gaya bahasa sarkasme pada lirik lagu “Alay”. Lagu tersebut banyak digunakan anak-anak remaja untuk menyindir dalam kontennya. Tujuan adanya penelitian ini untuk dapat membuka pemikiran dan pemahaman pembaca akan pentingnya pemilihan kata yang tepat dalam menciptakan sebuah lagu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif Sumber data dalam penelitian ini berasal dari musik video Youtube “Alay” yang dinyanyikan oleh Lolita. Setelah dianalisis diketahui bahwa didalam lagu tersebut terdapat 3 bait lirik yang didalmnya terdapat gaya bahasa sarkasme.Kata-kata kunci: Semantik, Sarkasme, Lagu

Abstract

The word eating can produce positive meaning as it is closely tied to human needs. This term is also intricately linked to eating habits. In Javanese society, this term serves to satisfy basic human needs and plays a pivotal role in defining social etiquette. Eating expressions have a broader meaning when examined from a dysphemistic perspective within cognitive semantics. This study employed a descriptive qualitative methodology, with data collection covering interviews, active listening, observation, and note-taking. The data were then analyzed using image schemas and conceptual meaning. The study found that the eating expressions underwent dysphemism in Javanese such as lambene ngemrus wae ket mau! (your mouth keeps eating!), wes, ngrokoti koyo tikus! (you eat like a rat!), Gimin esuk-esuk wis nguntal (Gimin ate too early this morning), wah, yahene wis nyekek ping pindho (you have eaten twice by this time), nyo, badhogen kabeh, aku rasah dingengehi (eat all the food and dont bother to spare for me), panganan kok di gaglak (how come you gulping the food?), and menungso kok gragas?! (how on earth could you only eat?!). Moreover, the study identified conceptual metaphors, comprising six structural metaphors and two orientational metaphors. Structural metaphors arise from systematic relationships observed in daily experiences, whereas orientational metaphors impart spatial direction, including the recognition of top-down image schemes, part-whole image schemes, existence image schemes, and merging image schemes.

Abstract

Riau Malay is a vital part of Indonesia’s oral heritage, reflecting the socio-cultural identity of the Riau Malay community. In everyday interactions, Riau Malays frequently use allusive language as a means of politeness and as a reflection of cultural values. These linguistic expressions facilitate respectful communication and serve as a tool for character education. This study aims to redefine the role of Riau Malay figurative expressions as more than just linguistic tools, but as fundamental components of politeness and ethical communication. Additionally, it examines how these linguistic traditions can be preserved and integrated into higher education to foster character development, particularly in instilling values such as integrity, empathy, and respect among university students. A qualitative descriptive approach was used to analyze figurative expressions in Riau Malay. Data collection included documentation of traditional linguistic expressions and interviews with cultural experts and educators. The analysis focused on the role of allusions in social interactions and their contribution to shaping ethical behavior. Findings reveal that Riau Malay allusions are deeply embedded in cultural communication, serving as markers of politeness and carriers of moral and ethical values. These expressions reflect virtues such as humility, respect, and social harmony, reinforcing positive character traits among speakers. Incorporating Riau Malay figurative language into higher education has shown potential in strengthening students' cultural identity and ethical behavior. Interviews with educators revealed that students who engage with Malay linguistic traditions develop a deeper appreciation for local wisdom and improve their interpersonal communication skills. This study underscores the importance of preserving and promoting Riau Malay allusions as a means of fostering character education in higher learning institutions. By integrating these expressions into academic discourse, universities contribute to cultural heritage preservation while instilling ethical values in students. Future research should explore the long-term impact of structured linguistic programs on moral development and identify further ways to integrate traditional linguistic wisdom into modern educational frameworks.

Abstract

The proverb "like a weasel in sheep's clothing" is a linguistic expression rich in cultural values and often used to implicitly criticize hypocrisy. This background prompts the need for a more in-depth analysis of its meaning. The focus of this research is to explore the potential implicit meaning, communicative function, and cultural resonance of this proverb using an inquisitive semantic framework, which views meaning as a trigger for questioning and interpretation. As a crucial step, this study applies descriptive qualitative methods accompanied by comparative analysis across languages—including English, Arabic, Mandarin, and German—to test the universality of the concept. Key findings indicate that the semantic structure of "a predator in disguise" is a universal concept reflecting global ethical concerns about deception and betrayal. Pragmatically, this proverb functions as an effective indirect speech act to convey social criticism in a subtle yet incisive manner. In conclusion, this proverb is not simply an aesthetic form of language, but a dynamic rhetorical instrument and an important means of shaping social consciousness, whose meaning is not only propositional but also open to interpretation by its listeners. ABSTRAKPeribahasa "bagai musang berbulu domba" merupakan ekspresi linguistik yang kaya akan nilai budaya dan sering digunakan untuk mengkritik kemunafikan secara tersirat. Latar belakang ini mendorong perlunya analisis makna yang lebih mendalam. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk menggali potensi makna implisit, fungsi komunikatif, dan resonansi budaya dari peribahasa tersebut dengan menggunakan kerangka semantik inkuisitif, yang memandang makna sebagai pemicu pertanyaan dan interpretasi. Sebagai langkah penting, penelitian ini menerapkan metode kualitatif deskriptif yang disertai analisis komparatif lintas bahasa—mencakup Inggris, Arab, Mandarin, dan Jerman—untuk menguji universalitas konsepnya. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa struktur semantik "predator yang menyamar" merupakan konsep universal yang mencerminkan kekhawatiran etis global terhadap penipuan dan pengkhianatan. Secara pragmatis, peribahasa ini berfungsi sebagai tindak tutur tidak langsung yang efektif untuk menyampaikan kritik sosial secara halus namun tajam. Kesimpulannya, peribahasa ini bukan sekadar bentuk estetika bahasa, melainkan instrumen retoris yang dinamis dan sarana penting dalam membentuk kesadaran sosial, yang maknanya tidak hanya bersifat proposisional tetapi juga membuka ruang interpretasi bagi pendengarnya.

Abstract

This research investigated the Sundanese traditional cuisine proper names. The purpose of this research is to find out how Sundanese people name their food through the mental lexicon that appeared in the Sundanese traditional cuisine proper name. The proper cuisine names are collected from Sukabumi, Garut, and Bandung restaurants. The research method applied is a qualitative one. Through a Cognitive Linguistic study, the researchers investigated the phonological sounds and morphological processes that appeared in the Sundanese cuisine proper names. The research revealed that the two and three-vowel sound combinations appear in the proper Sundanese food names through conceptualization in cognitive linguistics. Furthermore, the acronym also happens in this food’s proper names, considering the sound that could produce the exciting names. The research results show that names from the Javanese region experience changes. Sundanese people add the morpheme into the first syllables since Sundanese people are not familiar with two syllables. To conclude, Sundanese people name their food based on how the body reacts to a specification. The form of Sundanese food’s proper name comes from the vowel sounds, which experience a morphemic process—the vocal sounds result in the rhyme. The consonant also tends to form a conceptual meaning that needs further discussion. The resulting research is also beneficial for learning the Sundanese language.

Abstract

Penelitian Bahasa dan manusia merupakan kedua hal yang tidak dapat dipisahkan dan erat satu sama lain, hal ini di sebabkan karena dalam kehidupan sehari-hari manusia tidak dapat terlepas dari yang namanya berbahasa dan berkomunikasi. Metode yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupaka deskriptif kulaitatif, Penelitian deskriptif yang dimaksud adalah mengidentifikasi, menganalisis, dan mendeskripsikan data. Metode penelitian deskriptif adalah penelitian yang semata-mata hanya berdasarkan pada fakta yang ada atau fenomena yang memang secara empiris Kemunculan media sosial pada satu sisi memberikan kontribusi positif pada aspek penjangkauan penyebarluasan informasi, dalam ranah tersebut media sosial menjadi medium yang dapat memvasilitasi masnyarakat untuk berpartisipasi aktif dalam penyebaran isu-isu yang sedang terjadi di dalam media sosial.Satir di Indonesia, Satir berasal dari kata Satire. Kata satire diturunkan dari kata satura yang berarti “talam yang penuh berisi bermacam-macam buahan”. Satire adalah ungkapan yang menertawakan atau menolak sesuatu. makna satir dapat terbaca dengn jelas dan mengetahui apa makna sebenarnya didalam kalimat terbut, karna apabila hanya membaca sekilas tanpa memahami makna kalimat sebenarnya akan menimbulka opini baru yang harus tidak ada. Maka dari itu harus bijak dalam memahami sebuah makna kata,kalimat tebih lagi kontekas dalam media sosial yang di dalamnya sangatlah luas, maka itu sebagai pembaca kita wajib bijak dalam hal apapun.
