Abstract

Abstract

Background: Hematology examination is an examination carried out to determine the condition of the blood and its components in the blood. Blood consists of erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets, and a yellowish liquid called plasma. Hemoglobin is a tetrameric protein of erythrocytes that binds to non-protein molecules, namely iron porphyrin compounds called heme. Hemoglobin has an important role in the transportation system in the human body, the main thing is to transport oxygen to all tissues and the second is to move carbon dioxide from peripheral tissues to respiratory organs. Hemoglobin levels can be measured using an automatic cell counter (hematology analyzer) which directly measures hemoglobin levels. Purpose: To find out the difference between immediate and delayed blood tests for 6 hours at 4-8 to hemoglobin levels using Hematology Analyzery. Research Methods: The type of research conducted in this research is cross sectional. samples used were 30 samples in the UPTD Puskesmas tebing tinggi. The hemoglobin level was checked using a Hematology analyzer. Results: in the study, it was found that hemoglobin levels were immediately checked with an average of 13.51 gr/dL while hemoglobin levels were delayed for 6 hours at 4-8 obtained an average hemoglobin level of 11.33 gr/dL Conclusion: on examination of hemoglobin immediately and delayed 6 hours at a temperature of 4-8 there was a decrease of 2.18 gr/dl.

Abstract

Background: Leukocytes are blood cells that contain a nucleus, also called white blood cells. Leukocytes are one of the blood components that play a role in protecting against infections caused by viruses, bacteria, or metabolic processes of toxins. There are five types of leukocytes, each of which has a specific function in fighting pathogens, namely neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, monocytes, and lymphocytes. Leukocytes function as the body's defense system by being transported to cells that experience inflammation such as due to oxidation. Physiological stimulation that can increase the number of leukocytes is exercise, emotion, and extreme temperatures. Red guava is one of the fruits that has many benefits, the benefits of red guava include containing 228 mg/100 grams of vitamin C, rich in folic acid, maintaining the immune system, and preventing anemia. Research Objective: to determine the difference in leukocyte examination results before and after administration of red guava juice. Research Method: Experiment. The study was conducted on March 1, 2023 at Bunda Hospital Palembang and sampling was carried out at the Muhammadiyah Institute of Health Sciences and Technology Palembang, totaling 30 EDTA blood samples with two treatments. Results: the results of the study had an average value of the number of leukocytes before giving red guava juice, namely 6,596 cells/mm3 and the number of leukocytes after giving red guava juice, namely 5,716 cells/mm3. The results of the paired T-test obtained a p value = 0.122. Conclusion: Leukocyte examination can be carried out before or after giving red guava juice.

Abstract

Background : Leukocytes are white blood cells and have a cell nucleus. Leukocytes play a role in the body's defense system to resist the entry of foreign substances (antigens) that cause disease that enter the human body. Examination of the number of leukocyte cells can be done microscopically and with a hematology analyzer. The availability of Turk reagent for manual leukocyte count examination which is usually done by simple clinics or remote health center clinics is often not available, so an alternative material is needed as a substitute for Turk's solution. Lime juice(Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) is a weak acid with low acidity that can lyse erythrocytes so that it is thought to be an alternative to Turk's reagent. Objectives : to determine the difference in the number of leukocytes using Hematology analyzer and modified turk reagent using 2% lime juice microscopically. Research methods :This research was the experimental research with a research design using the Post Test Control Group Design. Sampling technique is Purposive Sampling in patients at the Sabokingking Health Center. Results : The results of the study were tested for normality and the data were normally distributed.
