Abstract

Creative thinking is a key 21st-century skill that must be fostered in science education, particularly in ecology, which demands conceptual understanding and contextual problem solving. However, classroom learning often relies on conventional methods that limit student engagement and creativity. This study examines the effect of quantum learning strategies on improving students’ creative thinking skills in ecology. Quantum learning was selected for its holistic approach that integrates emotional, intellectual, and social dimensions, potentially optimizing creative stimulation. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group. Participants were 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 11 Medan, divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using ecology-based creative thinking tests. The findings revealed a significant improvement in the creative thinking abilities of students in the experimental group compared to those in the control group. These results demonstrate that quantum learning effectively enhances students’ creativity in ecological learning contexts. The study suggests that adopting quantum learning strategies can help educators design more engaging and innovative learning environments aligned with 21st-century educational demands.

Abstract

Video interaktif Augmented Reality merupakan sebuah inovasi dalam pembelajaran yang menyajikan materi abstrak dengan cara yang lebih nyata dan menarik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan video interaktif yang memanfaatkan Augmented Reality dalam topik morfologi dan anatomi batang herbaceous serta untuk menilai kelayakan, kepraktisan, dan efektivitasnya. Metode yang digunakan berupa model ADDIE dalam kerangka Research and Development (RD). Uji validitas media diperoleh dari penilaian para ahli di bidang materi, media, dan bahasa. Kepraktisan diukur melalui uji coba terbatas pada mahasiswa, sedangkan efektivitas dinilai berdasarkan hasil pretest dan posttest. Penelitian dilkukan pada mahasiswa semester 4 Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Samudra. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa media tersebut dianggap “sangat layak” dengan skor dari ahli materi (88%), ahli media (97%), dan ahli bahasa (98%). Respon mahasiswa mengenai praktikalitasnya mencapai 90% dengan kategori “sangat praktis”. Rata-rata nilai pretest adalah 70,20 sedangkan posttest mencapai 93,27, dengan N-Gain 0,76 yang tergolong tinggi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa video interaktif berbasis Augmented Reality yang telah dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria kelayakan, kepraktisan, dan efektivitas dalam meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa tentang karakteristik morfologi dan anatomi batang herbaceous.

Abstract

Hasil wawancara dengan guru di MAN 1 Langsa menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran biologi masih berlangsung secara satu arah sehingga kurang mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa. Kondisi ini mengindikasikan bahwa strategi yang diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran masih belum sepenuhnya menunjang pengembangan keterampilan abad ke-21 khususnya kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain praeksperimental satu kelompok pretest–posttest. Penelitian terdiri atas 18 siswa kelas X di MAN 1 Langsa. Pengumpulan data melalui tes esai berdasarkan tahapan pemecahan masalah menurut Polya. Hasil uji paired sample t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai thitung > ttabel (22,67 > 2,11) pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Perolehan N-gain sebesar 0,67 berada pada kategori sedang, mengindikasikan bahwa penerapan PBL berbasis SSI cukup efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Model ini mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam menganalisis dan menyelesaikan permasalahan secara lebih sistematis dan relevan dengan situasi nyata.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the comparison of student learning outcomes applied with the expository method and the demonstration method in biology learning at SMA N 2 Langsa. This study is an experimental study with a pretest posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of classes X E and X G with a total of 60 students. The results showed that there was a comparison of student learning outcomes between the expository method and the demonstration method. The average posttest score of the demonstration class was 82.5 (high) and the expository class was 75.9 (high) so that the difference between the two classes was 6.6. While the average pretest score of the demonstration class was 45.1 (low) and the expository class was 41.7 (low) so that the difference between the two classes was 3.4 with a hypothesis test value of t count > t table or 3.121 > 2.001. Based on these results, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, which means there is a comparison of student learning outcomes between the expository method and the demonstration method in biology learning at SMAN 2 Langsa. A significant comparison in the posttest results shows that the demonstration method is better than the expository method.Kata kunci: hasil belajar, metode demonstrasi, metode ekspositori
