Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of strategies for teaching moral and ethical values to a generation that has grown up with technology in the digital era. This research uses the literature study method to examine character education in the digital era, with a particular focus on strategies for teaching moral and ethical values to a generation that has grown up with technology. The results of this study show that character education that is well integrated in the school curriculum can help children develop a deep understanding of moral values, such as integrity, empathy, and responsibility, which are needed in digital life. The use of technology as an educational tool has also proven effective in delivering moral messages in a way that is engaging and relevant to the digital generation. Educational apps, interactive games and multimedia content have helped strengthen students' understanding of the importance of acting ethically and responsibly in online interactions. In addition, the development of good digital literacy, which includes an understanding of data privacy, online safety, communication ethics and the ability to manage information encountered on the internet, is also an important factor in character education in the digital era. The implication of this study is the need for a holistic approach in integrating character education with digital literacy in the education curriculum. This will not only help protect children from the negative impact of technology, but also equip them with the necessary skills to face and overcome moral and ethical challenges in online life.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of elementary schools in providing and managing gender responsive facilities and infrastructure to support students’ learning motivation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed to explore the experiences, perceptions, and practices of six elementary schools, varying in location, type, and completeness of facilities. Data were collected through interviews with principals, teachers, and students, observations of school facilities, and document analysis, and analyzed using a qualitative interactive process. The findings reveal that schools strive to provide various facilities, including comfortable classrooms, separate toilets, health rooms, libraries, sports fields, and both digital and printed learning media that portray balanced representations of male and female figures. School policies and teachers’ awareness of gender equality are reflected in the planning, utilization, and supervision of facilities, thereby fostering a learning environment that values all students regardless of gender. Students reported positive experiences, feeling comfortable and safe, as well as motivated to actively participate in classroom learning and extracurricular activities. These findings highlight the importance of integrating gender equality values into the management of school facilities and infrastructure to create an inclusive, participatory, and enjoyable learning experience. The study also emphasizes that attention to comfort, safety, and equal access contributes to shaping students’ perceptions of a fair learning environment and supports the development of their intrinsic motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the character education of a love of reading is instilled through the School Literacy Movement at SD Negeri 1 Purbalingga Kidul. Although the results of the Computer-Based National Assessment (ANBK) show that SD Negeri 1 Purbalingga Kidul has a fairly good literacy level, in reality the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) at this school is still not optimal. This is an interesting reason for researchers because there is a mismatch between potential and actual implementation. Daily literacy activities have not been implemented consistently, so that reading habits have not fully become part of the student's learning culture, as well as identifying factors that support and hinder its implementation. The approach used is a descriptive qualitative with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The research subjects included 5 students, a second-grade teacher, and the principal. Data validation was carried out using the Miles and Hubermas model. The data analysis process includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that reading is an important activity for gaining insight, expanding knowledge, and adding information. The success of the School Literacy Movement is highly dependent on the availability of libraries, reading corners, and access to quality books at schools. Students are required to participate in the School Literacy Movement for 10-15 minutes before classes begin. Each day, the activity begins by giving students the opportunity to choose a book of their choice. It is recommended that schools increase the consistency and scope of the School Literacy Movement so that reading can truly become an ingrained part of the students' culture.
