Abstract

Every country has to fulfill legal protection for children. In this digital era, social media have positive and negative impacts on children. The number of children using social media is the third highest, namely aged 5-12 years. The economic exploitation of children reaches 431 cases. This study aims to investigate these 3 cases based on the regulation and comparison with other countries. This qualitative research used Normative Jurisprudence, Case Study, and Statue Approaches. Normative Jurisprudence referred to the Child Protection Law and the Employment Law. The case study involved 3 cases and the status approach compared regulations between the United States and France.  This study revealed the urgency of the protection of child labor in the entertainment industry, namely kid influencers and artists who experience legal uncertainty due to the ambiguity and inequality of norms. Elements of the Criminal Act of Child Exploitation were fulfilled with the constraints in the explanation of the "Types of Economic Exploitation Acts" for child influencers or artists. Changes to related laws or legal reform through the Child Labor Law Draft need to consider the United States and France, which have succeeded in providing such protection.

Abstract

Candy is a most liked product by all groups, including children, teenagers, adults, and older people. This study aimed to determine Sonneratia caseolaris fruit juice fortification's effect on candy's sensory, chemical, and microbiological quality. This study used a completely randomized design with one factor with four levels of Sonneratia caseolaris fruit juice fortification treatment: F1 (25%), F2 (50%), F3 (75%), and F4 (100%), which were repeated three times. The results of the hedonic test showed the highest level of preference for the color parameter in F1 (25%), while for the aroma, taste, and texture parameters, the highest in F4 (100%). The results of the water content with the highest value in F3 was 1.10%, the highest ash content in F2 was 0.61%, the highest reducing sugar in F1 was 10.75%, and the highest saccharose content in the F4 was 44.53%. Candy did not contain Escherichia coli bacteria, yet contained Coliform bacteria 3.6 APM/mL in F2(50%) and F3(75%). This finding is expected to provide new insights for industry and research to develop candy from local food sources.

Abstract

The rapid adoption of smartwatches in the healthcare sector presents a fundamental duality between the potential for medical innovation and systemic risks to the right to privacy. This research aims to critically analyze the juridical-ethical gap between the health data governance practices of the smartwatch industry and the normative standards mandated by Law Number 27 of 2022. Using a normative legal research method and a gap analysis approach, this study dissects how industry practices systematically create a transparency deficit and devalue the meaning of informed consent into an illusory agreement. The analysis reveals a diametrical opposition between the regulatory ideal (das sollen), which prioritizes user autonomy, and the reality of industry practices (das sein), which are driven by commercial interests and formalistic compliance. This gap not only exposes users to data exploitation but also challenges the effectiveness of Law Number 27 of 2022 in addressing the complexity of wearable technology. Therefore, this research recommends a paradigm shift from the fragile consent-based model to a rights-based model. Furthermore, it urges the formulation of specific implementing regulations for the health technology sector to bridge the existing gap and build a fair and accountable digital ecosystem.

Abstract

Indonesia’s solid waste management framework continues to face persistent legal and institutional challenges in harmonizing national policies with regional regulations within a decentralized governance structure. Despite the enactment of Law No. 18 of 2008 and subsequent regulatory instruments up to 2023, existing legal scholarship remains largely descriptive, focusing on compliance rather than addressing normative and institutional fragmentation particularly the misalignment between Law No. 18/2008 on Waste Management and Law No. 23/2014 on Regional Government. This study aims to fill that gap by employing a normative-empirical legal approach that combines doctrinal analysis with field-based interviews involving five key stakeholders from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, provincial agencies, and legal experts. These structural weaknesses undermine policy coherence and highlight the limitations of relying solely on legal standardization. Drawing on decentralization theory and multi-level governance frameworks, this article offers two key contributions. First, it proposes the establishment of a National Regional Harmonization Council for Solid Waste Governance (NRHC–SWG) as a statutory mechanism to enhance vertical coordination. Second, it introduces the Multi-Level Governance Harmonization Index (MLGHI) as an evaluative model to assess coherence across normative, institutional, and operational dimensions. These prescriptive and analytical innovations aim to clarify the constitutional boundaries of regional autonomy under Article 18 of the 1945 Constitution, strengthen institutional synergy, and advance regulatory integration for sustainable solid waste governance in Indonesia.

Abstract

Dissolution of political parties as a legal response to systemic corruption raises fundamental questions about the balance between democratic integrity and political accountability. In the Indonesian context, political parties function as pillars of representative democracy, yet have increasingly been implicated in corruption scandals that benefit the party institutionally. The current legal framework—anchored in Article 24C of the 1945 Constitution and Law No. 2 of 2008—limits dissolution to violations of ideological and constitutional principles, excluding corruption from explicit consideration. This normative gap weakens the state’s capacity to enforce accountability. Through a normative-juridical and comparative approach, this study analyzes the theoretical justifications and practical mechanisms for dissolving political parties involved in systemic corruption. Case studies from Germany, Turkey, and South Korea demonstrate how other constitutional democracies integrate financial misconduct into their criteria for party dissolution. The findings support the need to reinterpret constitutional threats to include entrenched corruption as an assault on democratic order. Drawing on the theories of militant democracy, corporate criminal liability, and organizational accountability, this article advocates for legal reform that enables the Constitutional Court to act decisively against parties that exploit democratic institutions for corrupt purposes, while still preserving procedural fairness and political pluralism.

Abstract

Before the enactment of the Job Creation Law, liquid waste disposal was governed by a specific permit system. However, with the introduction of the Job Creation Law, this system transitioned to requiring businesses to obtain technical approvals to comply with wastewater quality standards. Challenges have emerged, particularly improper practices that fail to align with ethical environmental principles. This research critically examines Indonesia's legislative framework for liquid waste management, focusing on its implementation and impact under the Job Creation Law, with a specific emphasis on environmental sustainability. A significant finding highlights persistent issues in managing household and laundry wastewater, which remain inadequately addressed under current regulations. Such gaps undermine environmental ethics, both anthropocentrism and ecocentrism. This paper advocates for synchronized regulations and comprehensive guidelines to mitigate adverse effects on environmental sustainability, ensuring stronger legal protections for Indonesian society.
