Abstract

Abstract: The extracurricular program which is divided into several specializations shows the importance of supporting the development of Islamic character in schools. This cannot be denied, because character is a complex activity that involves family, community and the school environment. Extracurricular activities are learning activities held outside school hours as an addition or complement. Extracurricular programs are organized with the aim of developing students' potential, talents, interests, abilities, personality, cooperation and independence optimally. The aim of the research is to determine the role of extracurricular programs in building students' Islamic leadership character. School and extracurricular activities are a holistic unit and mutually influence a child's leadership character. The learning process occurs in both to create reliable human resources. In theory, learning is essentially an "individual process" which means that it occurs in humans uniquely. Qualitative research is descriptive. which describes completely and holistically the phenomena that occur. The research was conducted at the AL-Kayyis Gresik Integrative Islamic Elementary School with data collection techniques using in-depth interviews, participatory observation and document analysis. Meanwhile, qualitative research data analysis uses Miles & Huberman, namely; (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, (3) drawing conclusions. Extracurricular programs can be recreational, achievement or life skills. Thus, there is a holistic and synergistic relationship between extracurricular activities and the cultivation of students' Islamic character. Keywords; Extracurrucular, Islamic Character, Children. Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the professional competence of SIKK teachers through VAKE-based training that integrates moral and knowledge dimensions in the teaching process. The training was attended by 32 teachers and implemented through collaborative learning. Pre-test, post-test, and ethical dilemma creation were used as analysis techniques. These data were analyzed descriptively to calculate mean scores, percentage increases, and N-gain values to determine improvements in participants’ understanding of the VAKE approach. The results showed an increase in teachers’ understanding of the integration of values and knowledge in learning, with an average score of 88.6, indicating an improvement of 8.6 points (43.5%) compared to the pre-test results. This finding suggests that participants’ understanding improved significantly after receiving the training materials through the community service program. Participants also successfully designed ethical dilemmas as learning media to promote students’ critical thinking. Overall, this community service program contributed to improving teachers’ pedagogical competence, strengthening students’ character, and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4.

Abstract

Independence is essential in early childhood as a foundation for managing one’s own life. Parents play a key role in developing this through their parenting approach. However, economic demands—especially in-migrant worker families—have reduced parental involvement as both parents often work outside the home. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the parenting of migrant worker parents in forming the independence of early childhood. The method employed in this study is a qualitative approach, utilizing a case study design. The data collection technique used is participatory observation and semi-structured interviews with parents and early childhood educators. The data analysis model applied is the Miles and Huberman model, which involves four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data conclusion. The findings show that early childhood independence develops in stages among children aged 5 to 6 years. Some aspects—such as self-care and simple decision-making—have begun to emerge, while others, like emotional regulation and problem-solving, are still in the process of development. Under permissive parenting, children tend to show emerging social freedom but limited discipline. In contrast, authoritarian parenting fosters obedience but often restricts initiative and autonomy.

Abstract

However, learning practices in CLCs still face various challenges, including limited facilities and educators’ pedagogical competencies that have not fully supported meaningful and student-centered learning. This condition highlights the need for a community service program focusing on strengthening educators’ capacity through the implementation of deep learning approaches. This community service activity aimed to improve CLC educators’ understanding and skills in designing and implementing contextual deep learning practices aligned with learners’ characteristics. The target partner was the Community Learning Center (CLC) Kinabalu, Malaysia, involving approximately 20 educators consisting of assigned teachers and local tutors. The program was conducted through needs assessment, training design, online training implementation, and evaluation and reflection stages. The results indicate an improvement in educators’ understanding of deep learning concepts, reflected in active participation during discussions and their ability to design contextual learning activities. Qualitatively, participants demonstrated a shift toward more meaningful and participatory learning perspectives. Quantitatively, about 85% of participants reported that the training was highly beneficial and relevant to their teaching needs.
