Abstract

The legal profession in Indonesia plays a crucial role in maintaining justice and upholding the law. Advocates are required to uphold integrity, honesty, and responsibility through adherence to a professional code of ethics. This study aims to analyze the role of the advocate code of ethics in maintaining professional integrity and ensuring legal justice. The research method used is a normative juridical approach, with a literature analysis of various regulations, codes of ethics, and previous research findings. The results indicate that the code of ethics serves as a guideline for behavior, a supervisory instrument, and a means of maintaining public trust in the legal profession. The discussion confirms the positive impact of implementing the code of ethics on public trust, although its implementation still faces obstacles such as a weak Honorary Council, limited enforcement, and fragmentation of advocate organizations. Strengthening efforts are carried out through ethics-based legal education, ongoing development, institutional reform, and public involvement.

Abstract

Correctional officers hold a vital position within Indonesia’s criminal justice system, responsible for ensuring rehabilitation, supervision, and the protection of inmates’ rights. However, numerous cases of misconduct ranging from drug trafficking, corruption, to human rights violations have raised serious concerns about accountability and the effectiveness of ethical governance. This study aims to analyze the criminal liability of correctional officers involved in crimes, viewed through the framework of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. M.HH-16.KP.05.02/2011 concerning the Code of Ethics for Correctional Officers. Using a normative juridical method with statutory and conceptual approaches, data were collected from legislation, legal literature, and relevant case studies. The findings reveal that the regulation only provides moral and administrative sanctions without direct criminal implications, meaning that criminal responsibility must rely on general and special criminal law provisions. The study concludes that a strong synergy between the ethical code and criminal law is urgently needed to create a more effective, fair, and accountable correctional system. This research contributes to strengthening the legal framework of correctional ethics and promoting institutional integrity within Indonesia’s justice sector.

Abstract

Healthcare services are inherently fraught with potential ethical dilemmas and violations of professional discipline, particularly in medical practice involving resident physicians. Resident physicians, while still in their education, perform medical procedures and have ethical and professional responsibilities to patients, colleagues, and institutions. This study aims to examine the regulation of professional ethics for resident physicians based on the Indonesian Code of Medical Ethics (KODEKI) and Minister of Health Regulation Number 3 of 2025, and to analyze the mechanisms for resolving violations of the code of ethics for resident physicians based on these two instruments. The research method used is normative legal research with a statutory and conceptual approach, through a deductive analysis of primary and secondary legal materials. The results indicate that KODEKI functions as an ethical norm that emphasizes the moral values, professionalism, and integrity of physicians, with an enforcement mechanism through the Medical Ethics Honorary Council (MKEK). Meanwhile, Minister of Health Regulation Number 3 of 2025 is an administrative norm that regulates the enforcement of professional discipline through the Professional Discipline Council (MDP) with structured administrative sanctions. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding and consistent implementation are necessary to ensure that the enforcement of professional ethics and discipline for resident physicians is fair, proportional, and in line with the principles of medical education and patient safety.
