Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze: (1) teachers' strategies in mathematics learning in Grade VI at Tarbiyah Tebas Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, (2) the characteristics of slow learner students in mathematics learning in Grade VI at Tarbiyah Tebas Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, and (3) teachers' strategies to address slow learner students in mathematics learning in Grade VI at Tarbiyah Tebas Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study research design. Data collection techniques include interviews and observations. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The techniques for checking the validity of the data are triangulation and member checking. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the learning strategies implemented by teachers are oriented toward a student-centered approach, with the teacher acting as a facilitator. Various learning models are applied, including cooperative learning, contextual learning, problem-solving, and discovery learning, supported by the use of diverse methods and media such as teaching aids, educational games, and interactive videos. These strategies are able to increase student participation, collaboration, and facilitate the understanding of slow learner students. (2) the characteristics of slow learner students in mathematics learning are marked by difficulties in understanding abstract concepts, slower problem-solving abilities, a tendency to lose concentration easily, a need for more time, and weak memory. These conditions impact their low interest in participating in mathematics learning. (3) teachers implement strategies through curriculum modification, simplification of materials, individual guidance, remedial teaching, the use of engaging media, and the application of cooperative learning through peer tutoring and group discussions. Teachers also use simple language, provide repetition of material, and give exercises gradually and repeatedly. With these strategies, slow learner students are better supported in understanding the material and participating more effectively in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of animation-based Discovery Learning method and learning styles on the understanding of length unit conversion in fourth-grade students of SD Negeri Sumberjo 2 Jombang. The study used a quantitative approach with a 2 × 3 factorial design, involving two independent variables, namely learning methods (animation-based Discovery Learning and animation-based lecture method) and learning styles (visual, audio, and kinesthetic), and one dependent variable in the form of understanding of length unit conversion. The population and sample of the study amounted to 120 students taken using a random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through an understanding test and a learning style questionnaire. Data were analyzed using a two-way ANOVA test after fulfilling the prerequisite tests for normality and homogeneity. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. A two-way ANOVA analysis showed that the animation-based Discovery Learning method significantly influenced the understanding of length unit conversion (F = 89.333; Sig. = 0.000), learning style significantly influenced the understanding of length unit conversion (F = 5.942; Sig. = 0.004), and there was a significant interaction effect between the learning method and learning style (F = 5.404; Sig. = 0.006). The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.477 indicates that 47.7% of the variation in understanding of length unit conversion was explained by the learning method and learning style. These findings indicate that animation-based Discovery Learning is more effective than the lecture method, especially when adapted to students' learning styles. Therefore, selecting adaptive learning methods and considering students' learning style characteristics is crucial to improving the understanding of mathematical concepts in elementary schools.

Abstract

The instilling of religious values and moral character in early childhood is an important foundation in character formation that will influence children's development at the next level of education. One learning model that can support this process is Cooperative Learning, as it provides children with opportunities to learn through collaboration, social interaction, and direct learning experiences. This study aims to describe the planning and implementation of the Cooperative Learning model in instilling religious values and moral character in early childhood at TK Surya Gemilang, Malang City. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of the school principal, one teacher, and three students. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data was established using source triangulation and technique triangulation, while data analysis referred to the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that learning planning had been systematically arranged through the preparation of Daily Lesson Plans (RPPH) that integrated the Cooperative Learning model, learning objectives, religious materials, learning media, the formation of heterogeneous groups, and the assessment of students' development. The implementation of learning took place through group activities combined with habituation practices such as reciting prayers, congregational prayers, memorizing short surahs, reading the Qur'an or Iqra', as well as various collaborative activities capable of developing attitudes of cooperation, responsibility, discipline, care, tolerance, and politeness. This study concludes that the Cooperative Learning model is effective in supporting the instilling of religious values and moral character in early childhood through learning that is active, collaborative, and aligned with children's developmental characteristics.
