Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of guided inquiry based on local wisdom on students' practical thinking skills  in grade IV elementary school. The type of research used is the experiment with the Pretest Posttest Only Group Design. The instruments used are tests and observations and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the model of guided inquiry based on local wisdom is effective for improving critical thinking skills in the theme of sciences class IV elementary school rather than guided inquiry models. This is evidenced by the results of the mean value of guided inquiry models based on local wisdom rather than guided inquiry models (76.55 > 67.94), there is a significant effect of students' critical thinking skills between the model of guided inquiry based on local wisdom and the guided inquiry model. This is evidenced by the results of t count > t table (2.757 > 2.002) and smaller significance value with a significance level of 5% (p = 0.010 > 0.05).

Abstract

Competency-based learning transformation requires the strengthening of numeracy and attention from elementary school through meaningful, safe, and measurable learning experiences. This study aimed to synthesize scientific evidence on the management of archery-based sport games and to verify its practical relevance through primary questionnaire data. A sequential exploratory mixed-methods design was employed. The first phase consisted of a systematic literature review conducted according to the PRISMA guidelines. A Scopus search identified 170 records, which were screened based on publication year, article type, language, access status, primary data orientation, and relevance to archery, target sports, physical education games, attention, and numeracy integration. A total of 25 articles were included in the narrative synthesis. The second phase was conducted using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 25 elementary school physical education students who had experience in archery courses. The results showed very high internal consistency, with Cronbach’s alpha = 0.945. The overall item mean was 4.47 out of 5, the mean total score was 120.80 out of 135 with SD = 10.81, and 96.74% of responses were categorized as positive. The safety and readiness construct obtained the highest mean score (M = 4.75), followed by attention enhancement (M = 4.49), motivation and engagement (M = 4.49), game-based learning design (M = 4.42), numeracy integration (M = 4.38), and implementation feasibility (M = 4.34). The integration of both findings indicates that archery-based games have the potential to serve as a safe, engaging, and measurable physical education strategy for training focus and embedding contextual numeracy activities. However, claims regarding numeracy improvement still require direct experimental testing with elementary school students.

Abstract

The development of early reading skills constitutes a fundamental foundation in elementary literacy learning. However, early reading instruction is often conducted in a monotonous manner, resulting in limited student engagement and learning motivation. This study aims to explore and analyze students’ learning experiences in developing early reading skills through the use of puppet letter media. The research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to uncover the meaning of participants’ lived learning experiences. The subjects of this study were a first grade teacher and elementary school students. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, using observation and interview guidelines as research instruments. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to identify the essence of the learning experiences. The findings indicate that the use of puppet letter media enhances students’ enthusiasm, active participation, and self-confidence in recognizing letters, forming syllables, and reading simple words. The medium also supports the creation of an enjoyable and contextual learning environment. The study concludes that integrating culturally based and visually interactive media can serve as an effective strategy to strengthen early literacy. The implications encourage teachers to develop similar creative media to foster more meaningful early reading instruction.

Abstract

Implementation in the era of the 21st-century revolution requires development, knowledge, and skills, with the hope that students are able to think critically and creatively, as well as solve problems and build collaboration together. The purpose of this study is to determine the profile of the driving teacher and the form of development of students' critical thinking skills using the Discovery Learning model in Grade V elementary school students. The research method uses qualitative research, while the data collection technique is conducted through interviews. The results of this study indicate that the driving teacher plays an important role as a facilitator who encourages active, independent, and experience-based learning. They use strategies such as group discussions, trigger questions, and reflection to guide students to find solutions independently. This is in line with the Discovery Learning model, which is designed to improve students' critical thinking skills. The application of the Discovery Learning model shows positive developments in students' critical thinking skills, especially in analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving. Students are more open to different opinions, although self-reflection and creativity need to be improved in some students. In addition, students also show a better understanding of cultural concepts through this approach.
