Abstract

This article explores the contribution of ethics in the philosophy of Mulla Sadra, a prominent 17th-century Islamic thinker, to contemporary bioethical dilemmas such as euthanasia, cloning, and genetic engineering. Rooted in the paradigm of Hikmah Muta‘āliyah, Sadra rejects static ethical norms and introduces a dynamic framework based on the concepts of substantial motion (al-ḥarakah al-jawhariyyah), unity of being (waḥdat al-wujūd), and gradation of existence (tashkīk al-wujūd). This approach views human existence as a process of spiritual perfection, making every ethical decision in medicine part of a broader evolution of consciousness. The study employs a qualitative method using philosophical inquiry of Sadra's primary texts and contemporary bioethical literature. Key findings reveal that Sadrian ethics offers an alternative to the fragmented and individualistic nature of Western bioethics. The concept of ontological unity allows for a reinterpretation of patient autonomy, while the gradational theory of being bridges clinical action with metaphysical values. The article recommends integrating Sadrian concepts into medical education curricula and establishing bioethics committees grounded in hikmah within Muslim contexts. The main conclusion emphasizes that Mulla Sadra’s philosophy is not merely a historical artifact but a living intellectual resource for addressing modern bioethical crises with both spiritual depth and rational coherence.

Abstract

The moral crisis among students poses a serious challenge to Indonesia’s education system, especially when Islamic education focuses more on cognitive content than on internalizing ethical values. The social exemplary conduct of Prophet Muhammad such as honesty, empathy, responsibility, and tolerance offers a contextual and applicable model for moral education within Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study aims to examine the relevance of the Prophet’s social exemplary character as a pedagogical model within the Merdeka Curriculum. Employing a descriptive-qualitative approach through literature review, interviews with Islamic education teachers, and observations in junior high schools, this research finds that the integration of the Prophet’s social values aligns closely with the Pancasila Student Profile. Learning strategies based on the Prophet’s social example not only enhance students’ understanding of moral values but also foster reflective and empathetic attitudes in social life. Teachers applying this approach report increased student engagement in value-based discussions and character formation. The findings suggest that the Prophet’s example serves not only as subject matter but also as a transformative pedagogical method. This article contributes by offering a contextual moral education model that aligns with the character-building goals of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

A high level of poverty in an area can have a significant impact on the economic performance of a region. This study will analyze the influence of the base sector, human development, and provincial minimum wage on poverty through the role of GDP growth in Sumatra. The ARDL and Location Quotient (LQ) panel data regression methods were used to analyze panel data consisting of 10 provinces in Sumatra for the period 2011 to 2022. The findings found that there is one sector that is dominant in all provinces on the island of Sumatra, namely the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry sectors. The direct influence between the variables of the base sector, human development, and regional minimum wage on poverty and economic growth shows that in the long run, human development and the minimum wage have a negative effect on poverty and economic growth in a positive direction, while the base sector has no effect on poverty and economic growth. Economic growth plays a mediating role in mediating the three variables. The government, in reducing poverty and encouraging inclusive economic growth, is advised to allocate greater resources and investment to the agriculture-based sectors, and the government can also focus policies on increasing human development and minimum wage, considering that these variables have proven to have a positive influence on economic growth directly.

Abstract

Indonesia’s youth NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) rate has consistently exceeded 20 percent since 2018, indicating a substantial loss of productive human capital and posing serious socio-economic challenges that require structural policy responses. This study examines the sociodemographic factors associated with NEET status among individuals aged 15–24 in Indonesia, while also investigating the role of socio-digital factors that remain underexplored in existing research. Using data from the 2023 National Labor Force Survey (SAKERNAS) and a sample of 158,816 youth, the analysis employs binary logistic regression to assess the effects of individual characteristics (gender, age, marital status, disability, and education), household characteristics (education and marital status of the household head), and socio-digital factors (technology access and participation in government programs) on the probability of being NEET. The findings demonstrate that NEET status in Indonesia represents a complex and multidimensional problem, with an estimated prevalence of approximately 24.3 percent and strong influences from sociodemographic factors. Higher educational attainment, unmarried status, and prior work experience are associated with a lower likelihood of being NEET, whereas access to information technology and higher educational attainment of the household head are linked to a higher risk. These results underscore the need for an integrated and context-specific policy strategy that combines employment creation, enhancement of vocational education quality, strengthening of digital skills, and family planning initiatives, while accounting for regional disparities.

Abstract

This study investigates the short-run effects of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) investment and Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia, with human capital included as a moderating variable. Using annual time-series data from 1990 to 2024 sourced from the World Bank, the analysis applies Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to evaluate the interaction between investment and human capital. The empirical findings show that MSME investment and human capital exert strong and significant positive influences on inclusive growth, while GFCF demonstrates a positive but relatively modest direct impact. Furthermore, human capital significantly enhances the effects of both MSME investment and GFCF, emphasizing its role as a catalyst in improving investment productivity and inclusiveness. This study provides updated empirical evidence on Indonesia’s investment–growth nexus by applying an interaction-based MRA framework to long-term data, highlighting the strategic importance of integrating human capital development within investment-driven growth policies.

Abstract

Abstract

Research Originality: This study provides a new contribution by examining climate stress, inflation, and foreign investment within a single integrated framework. By uniting environmental, macroeconomic, and governance factors, it offers a clearer understanding of the structural drivers of inequality in ASEAN-4. Research Objectives: The study examines the impacts of climate change, inflation, and foreign investment on inequality and evaluates how economic growth and corruption control moderate these effects. Research Methods: The study uses annual panel data for Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines from 2002 to 2023 and applies moderated panel regression analysis to estimate both direct and interaction effects. Empirical Results: Climate pressures and foreign investment increase inequality, while inflation slightly reduces it. The analysis also shows that economic growth lessens the inequality effect of foreign investment, whereas stronger corruption control unexpectedly amplifies it, suggesting that better governance does not automatically ensure fairer investment outcomes. Implications: These findings suggest that ASEAN-4 policymakers must align inclusive growth, inflation stability, environmental action, and improved governance to effectively reduce inequality and support sustainable development.
