Abstract

The skin serves as a protective barrier against ultraviolet (UV) radiation. However, exposure to UV radiation can lead to various skin problems, including changes in the dermis. To prevent UV-induced damage, antioxidants and anti-elastase agents are needed to protect the skin from oxidative stress. This study aims to evaluate the antioxidant and anti-elastase activities of Mundu fruit extract (Garcinia dulcis (Roxb.) Kurz) and to formulate a peel-off gel mask using the concentrated extract. Antioxidant activity was assessed using the FRAP and ABTS methods, while anti-elastase activity was determined by measuring the release of p-nitroaniline from a substrate degraded by the elastase enzyme. The results showed that the IC50 value for antioxidant activity using the ABTS method is 29.57 ppm 0.72, and the FRAP value was 185.02 10.23 AAE/g. The anti-elastase activity showed IC50 of 82.21 ppm. Three peel-off gel mask formulations were developed, with Formula 3 (containing extract at 200 x IC50). showing the best performance. These findings suggest that the thick Mundu fruit extract, which tested positive for phenolic compounds, exhibits promising antioxidant and anti-elastase activities and is suitable for use in topical formulations.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limitations of students to learn independently and the unavailability of flipbook-based e-book for Yogya Putri Style Bridal Makeup in traditional and modified forms as learning media in certain courses. This study aims to develop a flipbook-based e-book of Yogya Putri Style Bridal Makeup in the Central Indonesia Bridal Makeup Course as a complement to student learning resources using the Canva and Heyzine applications based on an R&D (Research and Development) approach with the ADDIE development model. Data collection through literature studies, observations, interviews, and questionnaires with samples of students, lecturers, media experts and material experts. Product validation tests are carried out to assess the feasibility of the product by material experts and media experts as well as practicality tests by users. Based on the validation test of material experts stage I, a percentage score of 92.5% was obtained and the validation test of material experts stage II obtained a percentage score of 95% and the validation test of media experts stage I obtained a percentage score of 60% and the validation test of media experts stage II obtained a percentage score of 86% so that it can be categorized as "very feasible". The practicality test was conducted in three stages for undergraduate students of the 2023 intake of Makeup Education, starting with an one to one test, a small group test, and a field trial test, with scores of 92.8%, 92.9%, and 93%, respectively, categorizing it as "very practical." Therefore, it can be concluded that the flipbook-based e-book on Yogya Putri Style Bridal Makeup is feasible and practical for use as a learning medium

Abstract

This study aims to analyze consumer preferences regarding purchasing decisions for facial moisturizer cosmetics among students of the Faculty of Engineering, State University of Jakarta. The skin is a complex and sensitive protective organ of the body, so proper skin care is crucial for maintaining health and appearance (Hartopo & Hajjah, 2020; Menaldi et al., 2019). Cosmetics, including facial moisturizers, play a role in maintaining skin hydration, texture, and elasticity (Trenggono & Fatma, 2007). Consumer preferences are influenced by product attributes, brand, price, access and distribution, and social factors (Kotler & Keller, 2016). The research method used a quantitative descriptive approach with a population of female students of the Faculty of Engineering, UNJ and a sample of 100 respondents through purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out using a Likert-based questionnaire, analyzed with descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. The results showed that simultaneously, consumer preference variables did not significantly influence purchasing decisions. However, partially, product attributes were proven to have a significant influence, while brand, price, access and distribution, and social factors did not show a significant influence. These findings confirm that students consider product quality as a primary factor in choosing a facial moisturizer, and indicate the need to develop other variables for a more comprehensive understanding of consumer behavior.

Abstract

Penggunaan eyelid tape sebagai salah satu teknik makeup untuk membuat kelopak mata khususnya pada jenis mata monolid. Namun, masih terdapat keterbatasan dalam sumber pembelajaran yang sistematis dan mudah diakses mengenai teknik pemasangannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan video pembelajaran yang layak dan praktis mengenai teknik pemasangan eyelid tape pada mata monolid. Berdasarkan survey terhadap 30 mahasiswa program studi Tata Rias Universitas Negeri Jakarta angkatan tahun 2022, sebanyak 76,7% mahasiswa merasa kesulitan dalam mempelajari teknik pemasangan eyelid tape pada mata monolid. Selain itu, 100 % mahasiswa menyetujui diperlukannya media pembelajaran berupa video pembelajaran teknik pemasangan eyelid tape pada mata monolid dalam mata kuliah Tata Rias Pengantin Internasional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode research and development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa video pembelajaran teknik pemasangan eyelid tape pada mata monolid yang dikembangkan layak dan praktis digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pada mata kuliah Tata Rias Pengantin Internasional dengan skor berdasarkan hasil uji validasi ahli materi sebesar 90,5% dengan kategori “sangat layak” dan skor uji validasi ahli media sebesar 100% dengan kategori “sangat layak”. Pada uji praktikalitas terhadap mahasiswa menunjukan hasil “sangat praktis” dengan skor 93,8% pada uji coba one to one uji coba small group menunjukan hasil “sangat praktis” dengan skor 94,5% dengan kategori “sangat praktis”

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh konten Instagram akun @habiramaliki terhadap motivasi mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Tata Rias Universitas Negeri Jakarta dalam melanjutkan studi ke luar negeri. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada semakin berkembangnya penggunaan media sosial sebagai sumber informasi pendidikan yang tidak hanya bersifat hiburan, tetapi juga memiliki fungsi edukatif dalam mendukung pengambilan keputusan akademik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif asosiatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 39 responden dari total populasi 73 mahasiswa aktif angkatan 2019 dan 2020. Uji validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen dilakukan menggunakan Pearson Product Moment dan Cronbach’s Alpha dengan bantuan SPSS versi 25. Selanjutnya, analisis hubungan antar variabel dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman Rank. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa tingkat motivasi mahasiswa untuk studi ke luar negeri berada dalam kategori tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata 2,63, sedangkan persepsi terhadap konten Instagram juga tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata 2,66. Uji hipotesis menunjukkan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,401 dengan nilai signifikansi 0,012, yang menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara persepsi terhadap konten Instagram dan motivasi melanjutkan studi ke luar negeri. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konten edukatif berbasis pengalaman pribadi di media sosial, seperti akun @habiramaliki, dapat berperan sebagai faktor eksternal yang mendorong mahasiswa dalam mempersiapkan diri menghadapi peluang pendidikan internasional.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between hair care knowledge and hair care behavior in cosmetology education students of Jakarta State University. The population of this study was cosmetology students of Jakarta State University class of 2020-2023 as many as 183 students with a sample technique taken, namely purposive sampling from the population to 97 samples of veiled students. The results show that students have knowledge of hair care knowledge with a mean value of 4.46 and a mean value of hair care behavior with a veil of 52.61. In the linearity test analysis results showed a significant linear relationship between knowledge and behavior (p = 0.050). In the partial test (t-test) the result obtained is a significance value of 0.000. Therefore, it can be concluded that 0.000 <0.050 which indicates that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that the independent variable (X) has a significant relationship with the dependent variable (Y). Through the coefficient of determination test, a value of 0.134 is obtained, which means that the relationship between variable X (hair care knowledge) and variable Y (hair care behavior on the headscarf of Jakarta State University Cosmetology students) only contributes 13.4%. While the remaining 86.6% is another factor not examined in this study. This study provides important implications regarding the need for more intensive hair care education for female students wearing hijab in order to support their hair health.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengembangkan video pembelajaran rias wajah foto berwarna sebagai media alternatif dalam proses pembelajaran pada jurusan kecantikan di SMK Forward Nusantara. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada kurang optimalnya metode pembelajaran konvensional yang hanya menggunakan ceramah dan demonstrasi, sehingga siswa kesulitan memahami materi serta tidak dapat mengulang kembali pembelajaran dengan mandiri. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode Research and Development (R&D) dan menggunakan model 4D: Define, Design, Develop, dan Disseminate. Produk yang dikembangkan adalah video pembelajaran yang tervalidasi oleh ahli media dan ahli materi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa video memenuhi kriteria dan dapat digunakan untuk pembelajaran. Selain itu, uji praktikalitas yang melibatkan siswa kelas XI Jurusan Kecantikan menunjukkan bahwa video pembelajaran mudah dipahami, menarik, dan praktis digunakan. Dengan demikian, video pembelajaran rias wajah foto berwarna yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini dapat diterapkan sebagai media penunjang pembelajaran di kelas maupun sebagai sumber belajar otodidak bagi siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis preferensi konsumen terhadap pemilihan kosmetik foundation untuk rias wajah pesta berdasarkan lima atribut: bentuk sediaan, warna, tampilan, kemasan, dan harga. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survei terhadap 154 mahasiswa aktif Program Studi Pendidikan Tata Rias Universitas Negeri Jakarta yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner tertutup dan dianalisis dengan uji Chi Square serta analisis multiatribut Fishbein. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa atribut foundation yang paling disukai adalah liquid foundation (45%), berwarna neutral skin undertone (56%), memiliki tampilan matte finish (68%), dikemas dalam botol pump (39%), dan berada pada rentang harga Rp. 50.000 – Rp. 150.000 (59%). Uji Chi Square menunjukkan seluruh atribut memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap preferensi konsumen (p < 0,05). Berdasarkan analisis Fishbein, atribut yang paling dipertimbangkan konsumen dalam pembelian foundation secara berurutan adalah harga, warna, bentuk, tampilan, dan kemasan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa harga menjadi faktor utama dalam menentukan keputusan pembelian foundation untuk rias wajah pesta di kalangan mahasiswa

Abstract

In hand and foot care, vocational education often faces challenges related to student engagement and skill mastery. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a combined instructional approach using animated video media and the talking stick method to enhance practical learning outcomes. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach, participants were vocational students (n = 60) specializing in beauty and wellness courses at a local training center. They were divided into two groups: an experimental group receiving animated video lessons augmented by collaborative discussions using the talking stick, and a control group receiving conventional lecture-based instruction. Data were gathered through standardized skill assessments, knowledge-based quizzes, and focus group interviews. Quantitative results showed a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.05) in both theoretical understanding and practical proficiency in the experimental group compared to the control group. Qualitative findings revealed heightened engagement and self-confidence among students participating in the interactive sessions. These outcomes suggest that integrating animated video, which provides clear, step-by-step demonstrations, with the talking stick approach, which ensures equitable participation and fosters collaboration, can substantially enrich vocational learning experiences. This study highlights the potential for innovative, interactive teaching methods to improve student outcomes in skill-based disciplines, recommending broader adoption of multimedia-supported and discussion-driven strategies in vocational curricula.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out what factors affect the delay in completing studies for students in the Cosmetology Education study program, State University of Jakarta. The research method that to be used is a survey research method through a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all cosmetology education students from the 2017, 2018 and 2019 classes at Jakarta State University who were still active in semester 119. From the data obtained, there were approximately 67 students. Data Analysis Techniques In quantitative research with descriptive statistics. The factors that influence students' late completion of studies are internal factors, namely: category percentage, motivation and interest which can be categorized as the "Enough" interval. Meanwhile, external factors: the percentage of categories of academic problems and personal social problems can be interpreted at “high intervals”. This means that external factors have a high influence on delays in completing student studies.
