Abstract

The limitations of teaching materials that add values to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) open up opportunities to develop supplementary teaching materials that integrate ESD with the latest information technology to support 21st-century skills. This study aims to develop a science e-module containing ESD theme of Indonesian traditional fermented food to build students' creative thinking skills, and sustainability awareness. The e-module development is carried out with the ADDIE development model. This study describes (1) a description of the development stages and (2) a description of the validation of the e-module in terms of mapping ESD aspects, creative thinking skills, and sustainability awareness, and a description of the validation of the e-module media display. The results of data analysis show that the results of data analysis show that the validation of mapping aspects of ESD and media obtained the categories of "excellent" and "good". There were several suggestions given by experts on e-modules and had been improved based on these suggestions. It can be concluded that the ESD e-module deserves to be implemented on a limited and wider scale. Keywords: Education for Sustainable Development, e-module, validity  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i2.pp540-553

Abstract

In this study, an instrument was developed that maps the degree of implementation of assessment ethics in performance assessment of students' epistemic understanding, specifically in biology. The study started with a literature review to find ethical violations in performing evaluations of learning biology science process activities. It included a review of the PISA 2025 framework on epistemic learning, which informed our development of the Ethics of Performance Assessment in Epistemic Biology (EPAEB) instrument. An Rasch analysis was performed to check the validity and the reliability of the instrument, which was distributed to 38 students from Bandung and Cimahi in Indonesia. The EAPEB measurement demonstrated fair validity and reliability based on the Rasch model. One fit analysis of items for relevance to explore validity, indicated four E58, D45, D50, D44 did not fit in the defined ranges and needed modification to enhance clarity. A person reliability value of 0.90 and item reliability of 0.92 indicate that the developed instrument has sufficient reliability for quantitative research.         Keywords: epistemic biology learning, performance assessment, assessment ethics.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i4.pp1870-1879

Abstract

Practicum is very important in science learning because it provides direct experience to students so that students can understand the context of natural phenomena through direct observation. This research aims to evaluate and improve the design of laboratory activities (DKL) in fruit DNA isolation practicum. This research uses a qualitative descriptive analysis design. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, namely by analyzing the DKL contained in Biology textbooks. The instrument used is an instrument development based on the Vee diagram principle. The results of the analysis show that DKL has a fairly good quality level, namely reaching a percentage of 72%, but still requires several adjustments in the form of reconstruction. The reconstruction carried out included adding verbs to learning objectives, replacing and adding equipment specifications, using standard units in measuring materials, restructuring procedures, adding units to observation tables, and data transformation using graphics. It is hoped that the results of the DKL reconstruction can provide more effective and relevant guidance for students and contribute to efforts to improve the quality of practical learning in the context of DNA isolation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the differences in digital literacy between 5th grade students of SDN 1 Mekarjaya who are taught with Problem Based Learning (PBL) assisted by digital educational games and expository models on food chain material. Using a quasi-experimental method, two classes were sampled: the experimental class (PBL with educational games) and the control class (expository), each with 28 students. Each class was given a pretest and posttest. The instruments used were document studies and tests. The test was used to determine students' digital literacy. The results of data processing showed the calculation of the average pretest value of the experimental class of 4.77 and the control class of 3.75. Because the average pretest of the experimental class and the control class were different, the posttest results were no longer compared to find differences in digital literacy between the experimental class and the control class. The data from the research were then tested with an N-gain test to analyze whether there was an increase in digital literacy from learning outcomes in the experimental class and the control class. The results showed a significant increase in digital literacy in both groups after learning. However, PBL assisted by digital educational games proved to be more effective in improving students' digital literacy compared to the expository model. Thus, the use of PBL assisted by digital educational games has a positive effect on students' digital literacy in the food chain material.

Abstract

Practicum is a series of activities that allow students to apply their skills to produce proof of a concept being studied, practicum focuses on the design of laboratory activities (DKL) that are first prepared by educators or school institutions. The purpose of this study was to analyze and reconstruct DKL blood type tests based on the ABO system taken from a collection of DKL at a school, the DKL analysis used an instrument based on the Novak & Gowin (1984) vee diagram. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative, sampling was carried out by purposive sampling with one DKL blood type test ABO system taken from the practicum guidelines at a school compiled by the science lab team. Research activities follow the ANCOR stages (Analysis, Trial and Reconstruction). The results of the analyzed DKL research showed a value of 50% which means it is sufficient to be used, but there are deficiencies in the focus questions, records/data transformations, knowledge claims that are not in accordance with the vee diagram, so that a reconstruction is carried out which is expected to optimize the DKL in accordance with the vee diagram according to Novak & Gowin (1984) used by students and can support the objectives of the practicum activities.
