Abstract

Speaking skill is a crucial component of English language learning, especially for EFL students in primary schools, where opportunities to practice real-life communication are limited. This gap between theoretical teaching strategies and classroom practice highlights the need for more interactive and learner-centered approaches. This study explores how Mingle Game Activities within a Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) framework can improve students’ speaking skills. A quasi-experimental method was employed, using a pretest-posttest design with control and experimental groups. Speaking tests were used to assess students’ performance, and the data were analyzed using paired and independent sample t-tests. The results revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group’s speaking skills, particularly in vocabulary usage, fluency, and confidence. These findings suggest that Mingle Game Activities are a promising strategy to foster student engagement and enhance speaking ability in interactive English learning environments within EFL classrooms.

Abstract

Competition is fierce in the market today, and companies are always looking for new ways that they can stay ahead of the game when it comes to capturing consumer attention. Two classes of approaches are commonly employed: product scarcity and price promotion with the intention of inducing consumer purchase intention. Artificially creating scarcity by limiting availability or offer duration helps establish value in the mind of the consumer. In the meantime, price promotions, e.g., discounts and specials, lower price barriers and drive impulse purchasing. The synergy of these tactics would, it is imagined, boost the appeal of a product. But it is still unknown the combined influence on the purchase quantity and it requires some more researching. Knowledge about the effects of scarcity as well as price promotions on consumer behavior is important for marketers who need to design more effective marketing promotions and sell as much during buynow periods as possible. This research aims to investigate the impacts of product scarcity and price promotion on consumer purchase intensity. A Quantitative Study, Descriptive and Causal Designs Were Used and Multiple Regression Analysis Was Used to Vet the Relationship Among the Variables. The sample was comprised of 300 online shoppers in the areas of electronics and fashion. The investigation also found that both product scarcity and price promotions had significant impacts on purchase intensity and that the impact of product scarcity was a unimodal one. Furthermore, the relationship was found to be moderated by scarcity and promotion discounting effects on purchase intention were magnified. The findings indicate scarcity appeals can increase willingness to purchase and could be characterized as a double-edged sword where too much scarcity leads to falling returns. When used in combination, these tactics can work well for businesses to get the most from their marketing strategy.

Abstract

The quality of data is determined by several things, namely the completeness and balance data. The heart disease dataset from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) has missing and imbalanced data, which if it is not handled, can lead to a lack of accuracy in the prediction model and errors in interpreting the data. To overcome missing data, several methods can be used, one of which is data imputation. Attributes with missing data of 5% or less are handled using imputation methods such as Mean, Mode, and MICE. Attributes with numeric types are handled by Mean. Attributes with categorical types are imputed byMode. Attributes with more than 5% missing data are imputed using the MICE method. Imbalanced data can be handled by applying an oversampling method using the Adaptive Synthetic Sampling Approach (ADASYN). The effect of imputing missing data and addressing class imbalance on heart disease classification performance was tested using Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) algorithms. After handling missing values and data imbalance, improvements were observed in the classification results. The accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score showed excellent performance, above 90% on several classification methods. The results indicate that handling missing and imbalanced data through Mean, Mode, MICE, and ADASYN positively impacts the performance of classifiers on the UCI heart disease dataset.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical transitional stage marked by vulnerability to negative influences, including drug abuse, classified as pathological behavior. Such abuse not only harms physical health but also poses serious risks to mental and social well-being. This study systematically examines the impact of drug abuse on adolescent health using findings from empirical research. A systematic literature review was conducted following PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. Articles were retrieved from the Scopus database with inclusion criteria: publications from 2016–2025, in English, and focusing on adolescents aged 12–19 years. Descriptive analysis was applied to identify health impact patterns. From 10 eligible studies, results showed that adolescent drug abuse is strongly associated with psychological disorders, including depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and suicidal behavior. Physical consequences include impaired nervous system function and weakened immunity. These findings indicate that drug abuse exerts multidimensional harm, disrupting overall adolescent development. The review also identifies potential interventions, such as medication-assisted treatment, family-based approaches, and gamification to enhance engagement. These strategies highlight the need for integrated prevention and rehabilitation programs. The evidence can guide policymakers, educators, and healthcare providers in designing measures to reduce adolescent drug abuse and its long-term consequences.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the fat content in flaxseed sticks using the soxhlet extraction method. Flaxseed is a plant that has many nutrients, including fat, protein, minerals, omega-3 fatty acids and so on. The many nutrients make flaxseed an alternative ingredient for food products such as snacks. Fat content testing is carried out because consuming foods that contain a lot of fat has a negative impact on health. The soxhlet extraction method is used starting with hydrolysis. After that, the sample is cleaned, dried, and extracted using n-hexane solvent. According to the SNI 2886:2015 standard for extrudate snacks, the analysis process is carried out. To test the precision, the study was carried out in duplicate. The fat content was calculated by gravimetry using the difference in flask mass. The results showed that each test had a fat content of 18,44% and 18,51%, with an average value of 18,48% and an RPD value of 0,3%, which met the maximum accuracy requirements of RPD <= 5%. In addition, the research results showed that the fat content of flaxseed sticks was far below the maximum fat content limit for extrudate snacks set by SNI, which is 38%.

Abstract

South Sumatera songket woven cloth is one of the cultural assets of South Sumatera Province which is usually used at weddings and other traditional ceremonies. One of the villages which is famous as a producer of songket cloth is a Penyandingan Village. The songket cloth industry in Penyandingan Village experienced a decline in turnover of up to 60% during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is supported by the lack of knowledge of society regarding marketing strategies and technology in marketing products. For this reason, Shopee market management training is needed for songket cloth craftsmen and the Penyandingan Village society through the Sriwijaya University Thematic Community Service team program so that the marketing of songket fabrics can reach a wide market and be able to compete with other products. The method used is the lecture method including data collection planning and implementation of activities. The research analysis uses descriptive analysis to provide a general description of the implementation of the Shopee marketplace training. After the training was carried out,  Penyandingan Village society was able to understand the material and apply it directly using the Shopee application, and could be applied on a sustainable scale so that sales of songket cloth could increase.
