Abstract

Multiple nutrition remains a major problem in Indonesia, including among school-age children, which can affect the quality of human resources in the future. School-age children are a group that is vulnerable to nutritional problems because they need diverse food intake for optimal growth and development. The purpose of this activity is to determine the difference in students' knowledge about balanced nutrition before and after being given education through my nutrition diary media at SDS IT ALWahdah Kendari in 2024. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed both before and after education, using the Diari Giziku book media. Students who will receive education are 35 students. The assessment results of the paired sample t-test test show the p-value of knowledge (0.000) < α (0.05), attitude (0.000) < α (0.05), and motivation (0.000) < α (0.05), meaning that there is a difference in knowledge before and after being given education through my nutrition diary media, therefore it can be concluded that my nutrition diary media is a medium that can increase students' understanding of balanced nutrition.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the human immune system, so that humans infected with this virus cannot fight various types of diseases that attack their bodies. Meanwhile, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a syndrome or collection of symptoms of a disease caused by the Human Immunodeficiency virus or better known as HIV. This research aims to determine the description of knowledge, attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control of PLWHIV regarding HIV and AIDS in Wangi-Wangi, Wakatobi Regency in 2025. This type of research is qualitative research using a phenomenological approach. Informants in this study were divided into two categories, namely, key informants were PLWHIV and ordinary informants were health workers. Data collection methods use in-depth interviews and observation. The results of this study show that PLWHIV knowledge regarding HIV and AIDS is still lacking because before they were diagnosed positive they did not find out about HIV and AIDS, the attitude of PLWHIV was still not good enough because before they were diagnosed positive they did not feel worried, they felt normal, some even felt happy in carrying out behavior at risk of contracting HIV and AIDS, the subjective norms of PLWHIV were influenced by friends, husbands and the people around them, which gave rise to a sense of confidence in PLWHIV to carry out risky behavior, the perception of behavioral control of PLWHIV is still not good enough because before being diagnosed positively, there is a feeling of curiosity and feeling of loneliness, which causes unstable self-control which is a trigger for carrying out risky behavior of contracting HIV and AIDS.

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a serious public health issue in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas such as Ambasea Village, Laeya Sub-district, South Konawe Regency. Stunting, or chronic growth failure in children due to prolonged malnutrition, generally occurs during the first 1,000 days of life. In Ambasea Village, this problem is exacerbated by irregular eating patterns among toddlers, consumption of low-nutrient foods, and poor hygiene behaviors. Toddlers frequently consume unhealthy snacks, reject main meals such as rice and side dishes, and rarely wash their hands with soap before eating or after using the toilet. Furthermore, limited access to basic sanitation—such as the lack of proper latrines and adequate wastewater disposal systems (SPAL)—also contributes to the high risk of infections that disrupt nutrient absorption, increasing the likelihood of stunting in children. Objective: This study aims to describe the environmental health conditions contributing to the incidence of stunting among children aged 0–2 years in Ambasea Village. Methods: The research used an observational analytic method with a quantitative cross-sectional design. The study involved 54 toddlers identified as stunted. Data were collected through structured interviews with parents or caregivers and direct observation of the household and surrounding environmental conditions. Results: The results showed that 66.5% of households did not have access to proper latrines, and 70% lacked adequate wastewater disposal systems. However, 87% had access to clean water, and 85% of respondents demonstrated good handwashing behavior. Conclusion: The environmental health conditions in Ambasea Village reveal ongoing challenges related to latrine ownership and wastewater management. Although clean water access is relatively good and hygiene practices among residents are fairly positive, improving sanitation infrastructure remains crucial. Enhancing these conditions is expected to significantly reduce the risk of stunting among toddlers in the area. Collaborative efforts involving local government, health workers, and the community are essential to create a healthier environment for early childhood development.

Abstract

The issue of adolescent reproductive health remains a major challenge in Indonesia, significantly impacting the future of the younger generation. Research by the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Ministry of Health in October 2020 indicated that approximately 62.7% of Indonesian adolescents had engaged in premarital sexual relations, with 20% of 94,270 out-of-wedlock pregnancies occurring in adolescent girls, and 21% of these resulting in abortion. This study aimed to enhance MTsN 01 Kendari students with knowledge about the importance of reproductive health, and to measure their knowledge levels through pre-post questionnaire distribution using educational media. The research employed a Pre-Experimental design with a One Group Pre-test - Post-test Design. The study population consisted of 7th-grade students from MTsN 01 Kendari, with a sample size of 35 individuals selected using purposive sampling. Data collection involved questionnaires administered to respondents before and after the educational intervention. The study results showed that the education significantly improved students' knowledge of reproductive health. Based on the pre-test results, 31 (88.57%) students were in the "good" category and 4 (11.43%) were in the "sufficient" category. Subsequently, a significant change was observed in the knowledge distribution based on the post-test, where 35 (100%) students were in the good category. Analysis using a paired-samples t-test revealed that p(0.000)<α(0.05), indicating that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. This demonstrates a significant difference between the mean results of the pre-test and post-test after the educational intervention.

Abstract

Pregnant women with poor nutritional status will experience nutritional imbalances that can lead to nutritional problems for pregnant women whose KEK is still higher than the WHO target. In an effort to meet the nutritional needs of mothers during pregnancy and increase the possibility of mothers giving birth to babies without LBW, PMT for pregnant women is one initiative to improve the nutrition of pregnant women. The highest number of Supplementary Food for pregnant women with KEK in Indonesia in 2023 was in West Papua, namely 139.2%, while the lowest was in West Java, namely 66.9%. One supplementation strategy to overcome nutritional problems is the provision of additional food (PMT), especially for vulnerable groups. The purpose of this socialization program is to increase awareness of pregnant women at the Dahlia Posyandu, Abeli District, about the importance of eating more to support their nutrition. Lectures accompanied by media, especially leaflets, are the techniques used. Twenty-five pregnant women attended this socialization. With statistical testing using the paired t-test, the results of the socialization showed that the average knowledge before and after receiving socialization and education was different, namely (p <0.05) or 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be said that educating mothers about providing additional food (PMT) to pregnant women will help them become more knowledgeable.

Abstract

The level of healthcare quality is determined by the extent to which societal or individual requirements for healthcare are met in alignment with high professional benchmarks, while ensuring prudent resource utilization and impact within government and societal constraints. In addition, it must be delivered in a safe and satisfactory manner to patients, following ethical standards and best practices. Quality indicators of health services in hospitals have challenges in improving the overall quality of health services. In the Cardiac Poly Outpatient Unit at Kendari City Hospital, it is necessary to know the strategies used in improving service quality. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the Strategy for Improving the Quality of Health Services in the Cardiac Poly Outpatient Unit at Kendari City Hospital in 2024. The research methodology used is qualitative and descriptive, using the Phenomenal model to investigate various phenomena in Kendari City Hospital with data collection techniques, namely field observations at the research location and also in-depth interviews with informants who have been determined. The results showed that the quality strategy of health services provided by the Kendari City Hospital is quite good, especially in the Cardiac Poly Outpatient Unit. However, considering the importance of health services, it must always be improved so that the quality of health services received by the community is always maintained. There are still many things that must be considered, for example, the problem of waiting rooms that must be added to the seats for visitors and the speed of service that must still be improved.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Behavior (CHB) is an essential aspect of improving public health, particularly among school-aged children. At SDN 104 Kendari, there are still challenges related to students’ behavior, especially the habit of buying snacks from unregulated vendors near the school, which increases the risk of exposure to foodborne diseases. This study aims to examine the effect of health education on students’ knowledge of CHB. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test method. The sample consisted of 42 students, selected through stratified random sampling to ensure representation across different classes and initial knowledge levels. The research instruments included pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure students’ knowledge, complemented by educational videos designed to be engaging and informative, enhancing students’ understanding of CHB principles. Results indicated that prior to the educational intervention, the majority of students’ knowledge was categorized as sufficient (57.1%) and good (42.9%). Following the intervention, there was a significant increase in knowledge, with 69% of students categorized as good, reflecting improved understanding of CHB principles. Statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test revealed a significant effect of the educational intervention on students’ knowledge of CHB (p-value <0.05). These findings highlight that health education through video media is an effective strategy to enhance students’ knowledge of CHB and promote healthy behaviors within the school environment. The implementation of audiovisual-based educational programs can be recommended as part of ongoing school health activities and sustainable promotive-preventive efforts.
