Abstract

This research aims to develop test instruments for Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) that are validated, reliable, and possess excellent discrimination power, as well as appropriate levels of difficulty. These tools are intended to boost the advanced thinking abilities of students at phase D. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) report on December 5, 2023, which analyzed the 2022 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) scores in mathematics, including HOTS questions, there has been a notable worldwide decline. Specifically, Indonesia ranked 68th, with a math score of 379. The focus of this study is on developing HOTS test tools that address topics such as relations, functions, linear equations, and systems of two-variable linear equations, drawing from the AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) and HOTS mathematics question books. The HOTS questions are designed to encompass cognitive levels C4 (analyzing), C5 (evaluating), and C6 (creating), following the revised Bloom's Taxonomy by Krathwohl and Anderson. As highlighted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (2022), the development of HOTS questions must include elements such as (1) incorporating stimuli and (2) presenting new contexts within the material or question formulation. The questions are constructed in essay format, adhering to standards for validity and reliability, as well as optimal difficulty and discrimination levels. This study employs a development model comprising two phases: the preliminary phase, which involves analysis and design, followed by the formative evaluation phase, encompassing self-evaluation, expert review, one-on-one sessions, small group interactions, and field tests. The outcome of this study produced 17 valid questions with a reliability coefficient of 0.848; 14 questions exhibited strong discrimination power, and 3 demonstrated adequate discrimination power, with all 17 HOTS questions classified in the medium difficulty range.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan atas dasar rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis peserta didik dalam pembelajaran matematika. Peserta didik mengalami kesulitan dalam pembelajaran matematika karena minimnya sumber belajar yang digunakan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan sebuah produk berupa Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) topik Barisan dan Deret berbasis model Discovery Learning yang valid dan praktis. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian Research and Development (R&D) yang dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Tualang, Perawang pada tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Penelitian ini mengacu pada model pengembangan 4D yaitu Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar validasi dan angket respon peserta didik. LKPD divalidasi oleh 3 validator yang terdiri dari 2 dosen matematika dan 1 guru matematika. Angket respon peserta didik diisi oleh seluruh peserta didik dikelas X.4 yaitu sebanyak 36 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa validasi terhadap LKPD diperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 91,86% dengan kategori sangat valid dan hasil uji kepraktisan angket respon peserta didik diperoleh rata-rata sebesar 86,34% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka LKPD model Discovery Learning topik Barisan dan Deret untuk memfasilitasi kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis peserta didik kelas X SMA/MA telah teruji kevalidan dan kepraktisannya.

Abstract

This study was conducted to facilitate students’ mathematical understanding, which remains relatively low. Students experience difficulties in understanding mathematics due to irregular learning habits and the use of instructional methods that are less engaging. The aim of this research was to create a Problem Based Learning (PBL) based teaching module with a deep learning approach on ratio material to facilitate the mathematical understanding of Phase D students, and to examine its validity and practicality. The ADDIE model analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation was used in this study's development research design. The module was validated by three expert validators and achieved a validation score of 94.71, demonstrating a highly valid category. The test of practicality conducted by teachers resulted in a score of 93.58, categorized as very practical. Furthermore, the small-group trial obtained a score of 88.47 and the large-group trial obtained a score of 86.27, both of which met the practical criteria. These findings support the validity and usefulness of the PBL based teaching module with a deep learning strategy on ratio content for enhancing Phase D students' mathematics comprehension.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills (MPS) are one of the key competencies in mathematics education because they relate to students’ ability to solve contextual problems in everyday life. This study aims to improve the learning process and enhance students’ MPS through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. This study employs the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, conducted in two cycles during the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The research subjects were 26 eighth-grade students from Class VIII.2 at State Junior High School 5 Tambang. Each cycle consisted of the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection techniques were carried out through PBL proficiency tests in the form of essay questions as well as observation sheets of teacher and student activities. The research results showed an increase in the average PBL proficiency score of students, namely from 26.91 on the initial test to 55.66 in cycle I, and increased to 67.79 in cycle II. These findings indicate that the implementation of the PBL model is effective in improving the quality of the learning process as well as students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. The novelty of this study lies in the correlation between each PBL syntax and the indicators of mathematical problem-solving skills in the material on linear equations and inequalities with one variable in class VIII.2 at SMP Negeri 5 Tambang.

Abstract

Paying attention to the intellectual development of elementary school students in the lower classes and the demands of the implementation of deep learning, bringing the context of the student environment into learning is a must. One of the efforts that can be made is through the use of ICT-based learning media with student environmental design. However, the limited ability of teachers to develop the media is an obstacle, so mentoring activities are needed. This community service activity aims to improve teachers' ability to develop ICT-based learning media with student environmental design through workshops. The activity was carried out in collaboration with the Siak Regency Education Office with a target of 51 grade I teachers in Kandis District. The workshop was held for four sessions at SDN 09 Kandis using presentation, discussion, practice, and simulation methods. Indicators of the success of the activities are measured through the ability of participants to produce media products and responses to the implementation of the activities. The results of the activity showed that participants were able to produce ICT-based learning media designed by students with a good category. In addition, the participants' response to the activity was very positive, where all participants stated that the activity helped them in developing learning media. The enthusiasm of the participants and the basic ability to use ICT are the supporting factors for the success of the activity, while the main obstacle lies in the ability to compile the structure of the material as well as in browsing, downloading and cutting the media context. This workshop activity was declared effective in improving teachers' abilities and experience in developing ICT-based learning media that is contextual and in accordance with the characteristics of elementary school students.

Abstract

Difficulties in connecting mathematical concepts with other concepts and real-life situations indicate that students’ mathematical connection ability is still relatively low. One effort to overcome this problem is the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, which emphasizes learning through contextual problems. This study aimed to improve the learning process and enhance the mathematical connection ability of Grade X.7 students at SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru on the topic of Systems of Linear Inequalities in Two Variables during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. This study employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were 43 students. The research instruments included lesson plans, observation sheets of teacher and student activities, and a mathematical connection ability test. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques based on three indicators: connections among mathematical concepts, connections between mathematics and other disciplines, and connections between mathematics and everyday life. The results showed that the implementation of the PBL model improved both the learning process and students’ mathematical connection ability. This was indicated by an increase in the number of students in the very high category from 8 students in Cycle I to 15 students in Cycle II, accompanied by a decrease in the number of students in the low category. The novelty of this study lies in examining the improvement of mathematical connection ability through the gradual implementation of PBL in each action cycle.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII-1 students of SMPN 5 Tambang who have not achieved mastery. Based on the initial test, only 11 out of 26 students (40.30%) achieved mastery. This study aims to improve the learning process and increase mathematics learning outcomes through the application of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model. The type of research used is collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was implemented in two cycles. The subjects of the study were 26 class VIII-1 students. Data were collected through observation and learning outcome tests, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study showed an increase in student learning outcomes, namely from 42.30% in the initial test to 51.53% in cycle I and increased to 88.46% in cycle II. In addition, teacher and student activities also improved at each meeting. Thus, the application of the TAI type cooperative learning model can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical understanding skills of class VIII.2 students of SMPN 13 Pekanbaru through the application of the model.Discovery Learning matter theorem Pythagoras The research subjects were 42 students, 17 male and 25 female. The type of research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles, each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments used were learning devices and data collection instruments. The results of the study showed that the application of the learning model Discovery Learning can improve students' mathematical comprehension skills. This is demonstrated by the increase in Mathematical Understanding Ability (MUA) scores in each cycle. In the initial test, the KPM score increased from 51.19 to 73.6 in cycle I, and to 83.55 in cycle II. Based on this, the application of the model Discovery Learningcan improve the mathematical understanding ability of class VIII.2 students of SMPN 13 Pekanbaru in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.

Abstract

Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi menuntut peningkatan kemampuan manusia salah satunya berpikir kreatif. Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis ini salah satunya dapat diperoleh di Perguruan Tinggi melalui mata kuliah Kalkulus Integral. Untuk menunjang pembelajaran diperlukan suatu bahan ajar berupa modul. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui modul kalkulus integral yang bagaimana yang dibutuhkan mahasiswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif menggunakan tes, observasi, angket, wawancara, dan analisis bahan ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa Pendidikan matematika membutuhkan modul kalkulus integral yang mudah dipahami, memfasilitasi kemampuan bepikir kreatif matematis, memuat penjelasan dari konsep materi yang dipelajari, berbasis model pembelajaran inovatif, menggunakan teknologi sesuai perkembangan zaman, dan bisa digunakan secara mandiri.
