Abstract

Coffee productivity in the village of Curah poh is low. Based on the data we have obtained from discussions with the Village Head of Curahpoh, coffee productivity is around ± 300 ku/ha. This is due to several things, namely unclear coffee varieties, not optimal coffee care and poor harvest and post-harvest handling. Improper harvest and post-harvest handling will damage the coffee product, reducing its quality and quantity. Farmers currently only carry out dry method processing. Processing Wet Method will bring out the distinctive taste of coffee. The distinctive taste of coffee arises from the fermentation process in the wet method. Escort and mentoring of wet method processing needs to be done because there are several stages in the process. The conclusions that can be drawn from several service activities that have been carried out are: Coffee farmers have been able to process coffee with wet, honey and natural methods; and the coffee farmers of Curahpoh are committed to processing coffee using the wet or honey method if the market can appreciate the processed coffee beans at a good price. In 2022, it is hoped that OCE coffee beans can be roasted and powdered and packaged properly

Abstract

The availability of superior sugarcane varieties is one of the causes of the low national sugarcane production. The results of mutations from Bululawang sugarcane (BL) variety obtained three genotypes that have the potential to have high yields. Sugarcane plants can be cultivated in all locations because sugarcane can be grown in tropical and subtropical areas with the main problem of water availability being either shortage (drought) or excess (poor drainage). Increases and differences in sugarcane yields can be caused by fertilization, good water distribution throughout the sugarcane growth cycle, crop management, climate and different varieties. if the plant does not experience a lack of water, its production can reach 123 ton/ha/year, but if the plant is under moderate stress (4-5 weeks without rain) then the production will drop to 108 Ton/ha/year. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study to determine the potential of each mutant sugarcane at different locations. This research uses direct observation method to each location. Then the data obtained was analyzed descriptively analytically to provide an overview of the object under study through the data that has been collected as it is without analyzing and making conclusions that apply to the public. The results of the research that the M1 mutant sugarcane had the age of emergence of tillers, the highest number of tillers and was able to adapt very well at an altitude of ± 512 meters above sea level. The M1 mutant sugarcane has the highest plant height, the highest number of segments and is able to adapt very well at an altitude of ±62 meters above sea level. The M2 mutant sugarcane has the highest internode length and is able to adapt very well at an altitude of ±62 meters above sea level. Sugarcane M3 has the stem diameter, the highest internode length and is able to adapt very well to an altitude of ± 512 m asl.Key words: sugarcane; production; mutation; different varieties

Abstract

Jember Regency has potential in the agricultural sector with abundant biodiversity, as well as a community culture that respects nature. This potential has not been managed optimally due to various problems such as limited creativity and knowledge of farmers regarding production, access, and limited market opportunities. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to empower the community through technology transfer, one of which is the manufacture of solid organic fertilizer from local ingredients in Jember district. This activity is an effort made to create environmentally friendly agriculture and can reduce organic waste pollution, one of which is animal waste. The specific aim of carrying out this activity is so that farmers can process organic materials in the surrounding environment to make organic fertilizer, thereby reducing farmers' dependence on inorganic fertilizers. This training in making organic fertilizer can increase farmers' knowledge and skills in increasing soil fertility and increasing production using organic materials. Implementation methods include socialization or counseling and training.

Abstract

A prolonged dry season can cause drought stress and have an unfavorable impact on the growth of tomato plants, resulting in crop failure. Therefore, research is needed on the resistance of tomato varieties to drought stress. The recommended technique for drought resistance screening in tomatoes is in vitro cultivation using Polyethylene Glycol (PEG). The research aimed to obtain new varieties that could be used as promising lines for varieties tolerant to drought stress. The research method used included using ingredients in the form of 5 varieties of tomatoes (Ratna, Intan, Chung, Palupi, and Amelia) and 5 concentrations of PEG chemicals (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%). Each seed of each tomato variety that had been sterilized using hypochlorite was germinated on MS0 media, then the germinated seeds with a size of ± 0.3 cm were transferred to MS0 + PEG treatment medium with each treatment concentration. The seeds that had been planted on the PEG-treated medium were then observed for growth for ± 4 weeks. The research data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed with DMRT at the 5% significance level. Based on the results, Palupi variety is the most tolerant variety, and Ratna variety is the most intolerant variety to drought stress. The higher the concentration of PEG used, the more it inhibits plant height, root length, and fresh weight of the roots.
