Abstract

This research aims to optimize the critical thinking skills and information communication technology (ICT skills) of students regarding temperature fluctuations material through the implementation of a hybrid discovery learning method. The hybrid discovery learning method provides the efficacy and efficiency of the physics learning process at three Malang Junior High Schools. The type of research used was quasi-experimental with a post-test only group design. There were 143 students enrolled in this research, divided into six study groups. The experimental class consisted of 74 students, while the control class comprised 69 students. The data were collected using a multiple-choice test instrument that evaluated critical thinking skills at the cognitive level. The experimental group achieved an average score of 71.1, while the control group achieved 60.1. Furthermore, data pertaining to ICT skill was gathered through the utilization of observation sheet and questionnaires during the learning process. The Wilk’s Lambda in the Manova test gave results of Sig. (0,000) < (0,05). This demonstrates that the hybrid discovery learning model influences students' critical thinking and ICT skills. Therefore, the implementation of the hybrid discovery learning to temperature fluctuations material can optimize the learning process on the critical thinking and ICT skills.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an instrument for assessing understanding distance and displacement concepts. Distance and Displacement Inventory (DDI) is an instrument constructed in multi-representations, including picture, table, graphic, mathematical, and verbal representations. This instrument is in multiple-choice format with ten questions to assess students' understanding of distance traveled and displacement. DDI development refers to R&D design by Borg&Gall and test development flowchart by Beichner. DDI was applied to 357 students in Indonesia who had taken introductory physics courses. Student answers were analyzed to determine the DDI's psychometric properties and structural analysis. The analysis results show that the DDI is adequate for assessing students' understanding of travel distance and displacement concepts. Meanwhile, the structural analysis of students' knowledge results shows that students have different perceptions of each question item according to their representation. Furthermore, students who understand the concept of distance traveled and displacement in one representation may need help understanding it correctly in another representation. This research implies the necessity of designing learning designs based on multi-representations and teaching students about the changes between these representations.

Abstract

Abstract

This service aims to improve the economy and independence of the creative industries of people with disabilities. The creative industry is a printing and screen printing business owned by partners, namely people with disabilities, especially people who are deaf or hard of hearing and speech impaired. People with disabilities generally find it challenging to get access to funds because their limitations make it difficult to gain trust from the industry. The method offered in implementing this service is transferring science and technology for business development through discussions, guidance, sewing t-shirts and bags, marketing management training, and partner mentoring. Results from questionnaires and partner interviews show that understanding, skills, independence, and the number of products made have increased. In real terms, this service program has succeeded in increasing the turnover of partners. This phenomenon is because partners can receive screen printing and sewing totes and mug accessories simultaneously without going from second-hand (totes and accessories are no longer ordered by other tailors). Thus, this service can help the creative industries of people with hearing and speech impairments become more independent in their society.

Abstract

Abstract: Malang City faces a significant plastic waste problem, reaching 65,921 tons per day, while the demand for educational media continues to grow due to its status as an educational hub. CV. Wijaya Multi Guna, a small-scale industry in Malang producing educational teaching aids from recycled plastic waste, encounters challenges in production capacity, limited product variation, and conventional marketing methods. This community service program aims to enhance the quality and quantity of the partner's products through a Participatory Learning and Action approach. Methods employed include socialization, training, mentoring, technology implementation, and evaluation. The results demonstrate a 50% increase in production capacity, from 1,000 kg to 1,500 kg per month, along with an expansion of product variants from two to five types. Additionally, digital marketing training successfully broadened the marketing reach to the national level. In terms of business management, a more transparent financial recording system was implemented, and a more professional division of labor among workers was established. The application of technology and innovation has significantly improved the competitiveness of the partner's products in the national market and created opportunities for future business sustainability. Abstrak: Kota Malang menghadapi masalah sampah plastik yang signifikan, sementara kebutuhan media pembelajaran terus meningkat. CV. Abstract

Global warming and the escalating climate crisis necessitate a paradigm shift in science education, moving beyond rote conceptual mastery toward fostering climate literacy and adaptive critical thinking, essential competencies for sustainable decision-making. This study investigates the impact of a Deep Learning-integrated Problem-Based Learning (DL–PBL) model within heat transfer instruction on developing adaptive critical thinking skills among elementary school students, from which contextualized climate literacy is systematically mapped and evaluated. Utilizing a quasi-experimental research framework with a non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest design, this study engaged 50 fourth-grade students. The experimental group received the DL–PBL intervention, which anchors instructional delivery in mindful, joyful, and meaningful learning principles, while the control group followed conventional instruction. Data collection relied on a validated critical thinking instrument contextualized within thermal physics phenomena and global warming scenarios. Statistical analysis indicated that the experimental group achieved significantly higher post-test scores (M=81.6) than the control cohort (M=64.4; p<0.001). The most substantial improvements occurred within the Clarifying and Interpretation and Inference domains. The primary novelty of this study lies in its innovative reframing of classical critical thinking indicators into specialized, "adaptive" competencies, providing an empirical model where action-oriented climate literacy is directly evaluated through the student's capacity to decode thermal data and formulate concrete mitigation strategies. Ultimately, this research demonstrates that the unified DL–PBL model serves as a transformative framework for bridging abstract physics education with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), offering a strategic pathway toward realizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4 and 13 at the primary education level.
