Abstract

This research investigates how the Indonesian capital market reacts to a major political milestone the release of quick count and official manual count results from the 2024 Presidential Election. The study focuses on a sample of highly liquid equities included in the KOMPAS100 Index. The investigation assesses anomalous returns (AR) and trading volume activity (TVA) over two different windows before and after the announcements using a quantitative approach using an event study methodology. The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) provided the data, which were then evaluated using paired sample t-tests. The findings imply that there was no statistically significant change in abnormal returns or trading activity as a result of the official count announcements or the rapid count. Nonetheless, notable differences emerged when comparing the pre-event periods of both announcements, with TVA showing substantial movement after both events. These findings imply that the capital market tends to express reactions through fluctuations in trading activity rather than price volatility, particularly within the segment of highly liquid stocks. Therefore, while large-scale political events like presidential elections may not significantly alter returns, they do influence trading behaviors.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the role of financial literacy as a mediator in investment decision making by Generation Z in Indonesia, especially on the influence of behavioral biases such as overconfidence, representativeness, and availability. Using a quantitative cross-sectional approach and purposive sampling technique, this study involved 257 Generation Z respondents who had investment experience. Data were obtained through an online questionnaire and analyzed using path analysis and the Sobel test. The results show that financial literacy significantly mediates the relationship between behavioral biases and investment decisions. Overconfidence and availability have a positive effect on financial literacy, while representativeness has an indirect effect through investment decisions. These findings emphasize the importance of financial literacy in minimizing the impact of behavioral biases and encouraging more rational investment decision making among Generation Z.

Abstract

This study investigates the mediating role of profitability, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA), in the relationship between credit risk (Loan Loss Provision/LLP), capital adequacy (Capital Adequacy Ratio/CAR), operational efficiency (BOPO), and board size on Return on Equity (ROE) growth within Indonesia’s banking sector. The study is grounded in the growing competition in the industry and the demand for robust financial performance amidst the ongoing transformation from conventional to digital banking. The dataset comprises quarterly financial statements from 13 banks over the 2020–2024 period, yielding 260 total observations. Panel data regression and Sobel test-based mediation analysis were employed using EViews 12 software. The findings reveal that ROA significantly mediates the negative effect of LLP and BOPO on ROE growth, and positively mediates the influence of board size. Conversely, the mediating role of ROA in the relationship between CAR and ROE growth was not statistically significant. These results underscore the strategic importance of profitability in linking managerial and operational factors to the financial growth of banks. The practical implication highlights the need for banks to prioritize risk management and operational efficiency to support sustainable earnings growth.

Abstract

Firm value reflects investors’ confidence in a company’s management capabilities, ultimately affecting their financial returns. Assessing a firm's value is crucial for investment decisions as it shapes investor perceptions. This research aims to examine the influence of profitability, tax planning, and leverage on firm value in Indonesian companies listed on the Kompas 100 index, with firm size as a moderating variable. The samples were selected using purposive sampling, yielding 222 observations from 37 companies. The panel data were analyzed using moderated regression analysis with EViews 13. The findings reveal that whereas leverage has no appreciable beneficial effect on firm value, profitability and tax planning do. Furthermore, firm size significantly moderates these relationships, enhancing the positive effects of profitability and tax planning, and mitigating the negative impact of leverage on firm value. This research implies that in corporate management should prioritize profitability through operational efficiency and sustainable growth strategies, and utilize legal and efficient tax planning to enhance firm value

Abstract

Attitudes and financial literacy are increasingly recognized as pivotal factors in shaping responsible financial management behavior among university students. In today’s complex financial environment, where digital transactions and consumer credit are more accessible than ever, equipping students with the right knowledge and mindset has become essential (Lusardi & Mitchell, 2020; OECD, 2023). This study explores the influence of financial literacy and financial attitudes on students' financial behavior, focusing on 217 students from the Economic Education program at FEB Untan, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS to ensure statistical reliability. The results indicate that students with higher levels of financial knowledge and more positive financial attitudes demonstrate better financial management practices. Their ability to make informed decisions, budget effectively, and avoid impulsive spending reflects the integration of financial understanding into everyday behavior. These findings underscore the importance of enhancing financial literacy and fostering positive financial attitudes to better prepare students for navigating increasing financial complexities and achieving long-term financial well-being

Abstract

Economic growth is a key indicator in assessing a country's ability to sustainably increase the output of goods and services. This study aims to analyze the effect of trade openness (TO) and the interaction between foreign direct investment (FDI) and political stability (PS) on economic growth in member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The study utilizes panel data from 30 OIC member countries over the period 2005–2023, sourced from the World Bank’s World Development Indicators (WDI). The analytical method employed is panel data regression using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) to control for individual heterogeneity across countries, as well as Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to test the moderating role of PS in the relationship between FDI and economic growth. The estimation results show that both TO and FDI have a positive and significant impact on economic growth. However, the interaction between FDI and PS exhibits a negative and significant effect, which contradicts conventional theoretical expectations that political stability should enhance the positive impact of FDI. These findings suggest that in several OIC countries, despite relatively low political stability, FDI continues to flow in response to economic opportunities, strategic interests, or domestic market appeal. In other words, political instability does not always serve as a major barrier to foreign investment, especially when the economic potential remains high. Moreover, FDI under such conditions may serve as an important instrument to strengthen international economic cooperation, expand production capacity, and drive long-term economic growth. These findings provide strategic implications for the formulation of investment and institutional stability policies in OIC countries.

Abstract

The participation of Generation Z in the contemporary labor market serves as a key catalyst in driving technological adoption, organizational innovation, and changes in work culture. However, the high turnover intention among this generation indicates instability in employee retention, which can impact operational efficiency and continuity, particularly in the service sector. This study aims to empirically examine the influence of Non-Physical Work Environment, Compensation, and Workload on Turnover Intention among Generation Z workers in the Coffee Shop industry in Pontianak City, with Job Satisfaction as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed in this study, with data collected through an online questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale. A total of 200 respondents aged 18–27 years were selected using purposive sampling based on relevant criteria. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach via the SmartPLS 4 software. The analysis results show that the Non-Physical Work Environment has a significant negative effect on Turnover Intention, while Compensation has a negative but not significant effect. Workload has a significant positive effect on Turnover Intention. Furthermore, the Non-Physical Work Environment and Compensation have significant positive effects on Job Satisfaction, while the effect of Workload is not significant. Job Satisfaction is proven to act as a significant mediator in the relationship between the Non-Physical Work Environment and Compensation on Turnover Intention, but it does not mediate the relationship between Workload and Turnover Intention. These findings emphasize the urgency of formulating managerial strategies focused on improving the quality of the work environment and implementing adaptive compensation policies, in order to sustainably reduce turnover rates among Generation Z workers.
