Abstract

Background : Urinary tract infection (UTI) is caused by the multiplication of bacteria in the urinary tract. The standard proving procedures for UTI are urine culture examination and urine dipstick examination (leukocyte esterase and nitrite). Objective : This study aims to measure leukocyte and nitrite values, calculate the total number of bacteria, identify Gram type, species and antibiotic sensitivity and analyze the correlation of leukocyte esterase positivity to the results of several UTI examination parameters. Research Methods : The method used is an analytic observational design with cross sectional design using primary data and analyzed with the Spearman rank test. Results : The results showed that in 198 patients with suspected UTI, 123 (62%) were positive for leukocyte esterase, 16 (8.1%) were positive for nitrite. The total number of bacterial countshowed 82 people (41%) with bacteriuria ≥10 5 CFU/mL. Found 61 Gram-negative bacilli and 21 Gram-positive cocci with 21 different bacterial species. Antibiotic sensitivity test showed 51% sensitive, 6% intermediate and 43% resistant. Correlation of leukocyte esterase with nitrites (p 0.023<0.05), total bacteria count (p 0.00<0.05), Gram negative bacilli (p 0.00<0.05), and Gram positive cocci (p 0.533>0.05), antibiotic sensitivity test (p 0.794 >0.05) and bacterial species (p 0.316>0.05). Conclusion : The results showed that there was a correlation between the level of positivity of leukocyte esterase and nitrite, total bacteria count and Gram-negative bacilli, but there was no correlation between Gram-positive cocci, bacterial species and antibiotic sensitivity tests.

Abstract

Background: Laboratory diagnosis of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever includes the IgM & IgG RDT (Rapid Diagnostic Test) examination which differentiates primary and secondary dengue infection. The presence of inflammation in the body caused by the dengue virus needs to be examined for C-Reactive Protein. Methods: This research is an analytical observational study with a cross sectional approach. Thesample used is a plasma sample of a patient diagnosed with DHF with a positive IgM or IgG RDT result. Results: Positive IgM RDT results were 6 people (17%) and positive IgG were 30 people (83%). The results of a qualitative CRP study were 24 people (67%) with positive CRP levels. Semi-quantitative CRP average level for positive IgG was 29.33. The results of the Spearman's Rank statistical test obtained a value of p = 0.003 <0.05 which showed a significant result. Conclusion:Clinically it shows that the more positive IgM or IgG RDT results obtained, the higher the CRP level which indicates the severity/inflammation that is formed in the body.

Abstract

Long-term coffee consumption is thought to affect health, on blood fat levels such as Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and Triglycerides. Knowing the effect of length of instant coffee consumption on Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and Triglyceride levels in the community in Tanjung District, North Lombok Regency. Analytic observation with a cross-sectional approach. Non-random sampling technique with a sample size of 30 respondents. Data analysis of one way anova test. Average Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) levels in instant coffee consumers 1 year 175.5 mg/dl, 2 years 227.9 mg/dl, 3 years 296.2 and triglycerides 1 year 107.5 mg/dl, 2 years 165.8 mg/dl, 3 years 159.1 mg/dl. The results of the one-way anova test obtained a sig value of 0.006 ≤ 0.05 and triglycerides 0.007 ≤ 0.05.there is a significant effect of length of instant coffee consumption (1 year, 2 years, and 3 years) on Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and Triglyceride levels in the community in Tanjung District, North Lombok Regency. Where the longer the consumption of instant coffee, the higher the levels of Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and Triglycerides increased in the first year of instant coffee consumption, but decreased in the third year. This change may be influenced by body adaptation and other factors such as diet, physical activity, and health conditions.

Abstract

Tuak is a traditional alcoholic drink made from palm sap. Excessive alcohol consumption over a long period of time can affect lipid metabolism, increasing LDL and Triglyceride levels in the blood. Increased levels can cause cardiovascular disease. To determine the effect of the duration of tuak consumption on LDL and Triglyceride levels in the community in Dusun Taman Bali. The research used is Observational Analytical with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was the community in Dusun Taman Bali who consumed Tuak for 1, 3, and 5 years with a total of 30 respondents using One Way Anova data analysis. The average LDL levels of 30 respondents with an average of 117.20 mg/dL consumed tuak for 1 year, 130.30 mg/dL for 3 years and 151.20 mg/dL for 5 years, while the average Triglyceride levels of 30 respondents who consumed Tuak for 1 year were 160.90 mg/dL, 166.60 mg/dL for 3 years and 201.10 mg/dL for 5 years. The results obtained showed a significant value of LDL levels of 0.000 while Triglyceride levels were 0.022. This means P <0.05, which means that there is an effect of the duration of tuak consumption of 1.3 and 5 years on LDL and Triglyceride levels in the community in Dusun Taman Bali.

Abstract

Pulmonary TB cases in Indonesia are the second highest in the world. The incidence of Anemia in pulmonary TB patients can be as high as 90%. Anemia can lead to poor outcomes in the recovery of pulmonary TB. Songgak coffee is a coffee with a mixture of spices that is commonly consumed by the people of Central Lombok to make the body healthy and increase vitality, including pulmonary TB patients. Songgak coffee is made from 7 types of spices mixed with coffee. The results of previous research show that Songgak coffee has quite good antioxidant content and is an immunostimulant. Antioxidants may increase Hemoglobin levels. This was a case-control study. A total of 26 new pulmonary TB patients were divided into 2 groups. Group A received songgak coffee as an additional anti-TB drug, while group B received anti-TB drug therapy alone. Hemoglobin levels in groups A and B were measured before drug administration and 14 days after treatment. The data collected were nominal data, reported as increasing and non-increasing. A total of 12 out of 13 patients in group A had an increase in Hemoglobin, while only 1 person in group B had an increase in Hemoglobin. The odds ratio value for increasing Hemoglobin levels in pulmonary TB patients who consume songgak is 12. The odds ratio value for increasing Hemoglobin in pulmonary TB patients taking songgak is 12. The odds ratio value for increasing Hemoglobin levels in pulmonary TB patients who take Songgak is 12 times higher than in pulmonary TB patients who do not take Songgak.
