Abstract

Rapid technological advancements in electrical engineering education require innovative learning media that bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, especially for complex topics such as low-power inverters. This study developed and evaluated an AI-integrated learning media for low-power inverters, utilizing the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The media's effectiveness was assessed through a single-group pretest-posttest design involving 40 undergraduate electrical engineering students. Validation by content and media experts deemed the media highly feasible, with an average feasibility percentage exceeding 85%. The implementation results showed a significant improvement in students' cognitive competencies, with the average test score increasing from 59.75 (pretest) to 83.20 (posttest) and an N-Gain of 0.59, which is categorized as moderate. A paired-sample t-test confirmed a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) between the pretest and posttest results. Furthermore, students' perceptions were very positive, especially regarding material understanding, learning motivation, interactivity, and self-directed learning. The novelty of these findings demonstrates that integrating artificial intelligence into learning media is not only technically and pedagogically feasible but also effective in improving the learning outcomes of electrical engineering students. The developed media has the potential for broader application in engineering education and supports continued innovation in smart technology-based learning environments.

Abstract

The majority of people in Kuta Dame Village work as farmers. Several outreaches have been carried out to develop the agricultural sector in Kuta Dame village. However, some of the extension services rarely touched on effective technology to support agriculture in Kuta Dame village. One of the technologies that need to be developed by the Kuta Dame village farmer group in supporting agriculture is an automatic sprayer. This development is necessary because most farmers are still using the carrying type sprayer with a manual pump (diaphragm pump). The sprayer's diaphragm pump pressure produces a relatively low spray pressure, especially when the operator is tired of moving the pump lever. As a result, the spraying performance is not perfect, making the spray grains not smooth and not reaching the leaf surface evenly. A community service program was implemented to implement automatic sprayers for farmers in Kuta Dame village. This community service program aims to carry out the planning process and use of an electric sprayer appropriately to increase spraying fertilizers and pesticides on crops. Implementing this community service activity starts from planning activities, implementing academic counseling, implementing the practice, handing over an electric sprayer, monitoring, and satisfaction analysis.

Abstract

Indonesia is a renowned tourist destination worldwide. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a decrease in both foreign and domestic tourist visits. Therefore, this research aims to develop a Telegram-based ChatBot application to increase post-pandemic tourist visits. The ChatBot is designed to make it easier for tourists to obtain information related to transportation and accommodation at tourist attractions. The ChatBot is built using the Knuth-Morris-Pratt (KMP) algorithm and web scraping method. The ChatBot's response to the keyword matching is then presented to tourists. To measure travelers' perceptions of ChatBot, the System Usability Scale (SUS) was used. SUS is a questionnaire consisting of 10 questions that were answered by 20 anonymous users. Based on the calculations, the average SUS score is 71, which indicates that the developed ChatBot is in the good category and suitable for use. Using this ChatBot will make it easier for tourists to obtain tourism information in Indonesia. With its ability to retrieve relevant information related to transportation and accommodation at tourist attractions, the ChatBot can serve as a useful tool to increase post-pandemic tourist visits.

Abstract

Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coatings are well-regarded for their high hardness, low friction coefficient, and excellent wear resistance, making them suitable for enhancing surface properties in demanding industrial applications. This study aims to analyze the effect of DLC coating on HQ 805 steel, focusing on improvements in surface hardness and surface roughness. HQ 805 steel, which is known for its mechanical durability, was coated using the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) method to achieve a uniform and adherent thin film. Hardness was evaluated using the Vickers microhardness test, while surface roughness was measured with a profilometer. Results showed a significant increase in surface hardness, with the coated samples achieving up to 798 VHN. It represented a 25–30% increase compared to the uncoated steel at 355 VHN. Surface roughness exhibited only a slight increase (5–7% Ra), indicating the thin layer and uniform deposition achieved with DLC without adversely affecting the surface finish. These results confirm that PVD-applied DLC coatings can effectively enhance the mechanical surface performance of HQ 805 steel without compromising surface quality. The optimal coating condition was found at 400°C for 4 hours. This research shows the potential application of DLC-coated HQ 805 steel in high-wear industrial environments extending component service life and improving operational efficiency.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's initiative to meet a renewable electricity supply 2050 of around 100% and its ecological benefits, has an impact on the big challenge where the increasing number of photovoltaic (PV) systems due to high power input and risks to electricity network security conditioned sunny weather for a long time. This research aims to provide predictable power output for network operators, thereby enabling longer planning periods and increasing the protection of the national operational network. Independent consumption by household consumers will impact household energy behavior and affect the security of the electricity network. Consumption itself provides an incentive to increase the cost of energy use which will be much higher than the compensation received, so software is needed which can support PV system prediction patterns. This pattern will close the gap in software development in the process of implementing optimization and configuration based on PV estimates. The consumption planning optimization algorithm itself validates the predetermined scenario optimization process. This research contributes to the efficiency and stability of energy use in households.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of integrating APBL with a PWM-controlled three-phase inverter project in vocational engineering education. This study was conducted across six vocational high schools in Indonesia and adopted a quasi-experimental, mixed-methods approach involving 223 students from the Industrial Electronics Engineering programs. The intervention was structured into sprint cycles, following APBL principles, which emphasized collaboration, iterative problem-solving, and hands-on experience. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, student perception questionnaires, activity observations, product assessments, and semi-structured interviews. Results show a significant improvement in students’ technical competencies, with average pretest and posttest scores rising from 59.2 to 83.7 and a mean N-Gain of 0.60, classified as moderate. The paired-sample t-test indicated a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.03, p < 0.001). Students reported positive perceptions of motivation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, supported by high mean activity observation and project assessment rubrics scores. The qualitative findings from the interviews highlighted enhanced engagement, collaboration, and autonomy. The study concludes that APBL is highly effective in bridging the gap between theory and practice in power electronics education when combined with technology-enhanced learning media. Recommendations for broader adoption and future research into long-term and scalable implementations of APBL in diverse educational contexts are provided.
