Abstract

Background: Trash containers can potentially serve as breeding sites for mosquitoes that transmit dengue hemorrhagic fever. This study aims to examine the relationship between community waste management practices and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever in Indonesia. Methods: A systematic review was conducted using the PRISMA approach on articles published between 2020 and 2025. Literature searches were performed using the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases, yielding five articles that met the inclusion criteria. Results: The findings indicate a significant association between community behavior in waste management and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever. Communities that do not implement proper waste management practices are at a higher risk of developing dengue fever compared to those that do. Conclusion: Therefore, the application of the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) is strongly recommended to minimize potential breeding sites for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

Abstract

AbstractBackground: Deaths due to TB are still a public health problem today. Monitoring tuberculosis treatment outcomes and examining factors that influence these outcomes is important for evaluation and feedback on national TB control programs. So this research aims to determine the risk factors that influence the survival of TB patients. Method: This study used a Systematic review. The data sources used are Science Direct and PubMed databases published in 2019 – 2023. The research article found 1,420 articles, filtering the abstracts according to the desired research topic, and ensuring that the articles can be accessed in full-text form, resulting in 14 studies that meet the criteria. Results: The results of this study showed that the factors that had the greatest influence on TB patient survival were age and HIV status, in 7 of 14 studies. Meanwhile, a third of the studies reviewed found that TB classification, TB anatomical location, gender, race/ethnicity, and history of DM are factors associated with TB patient survival. Conclusion: The most common variables associated with the survival of TB are age and HIV status. These conditions describe the increasing age and decreased immunity that can affect the survival of TB patients. Keywords: Mortality, Risk factors, Survival, Tuberculosis AbstrakLatar belakang: Kematian akibat TB masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat hingga saat ini.

Abstract

Background: Low Birth Weight is a major cause of infant mortality and serves as a key indicator for assessing a country's health status. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal factors and the incidence of Low Birth Weight in West Sumatra through an analysis of the 2024 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey data. Methods: The study was conducted from August 2025 to March 2026 using a cross-sectional study design. A total sampling method was applied, resulting in a sample size of 5,834 infants. The analysis included univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis. Results: The prevalence of LBW in West Sumatra was 7.2%. Bivariate analysis revealed that hypertension (p=0.0001), intrauterine growth restriction (p=0.0001), and preeclampsia (p=0.0001) were significantly associated with LBW. In contrast, anemia, parity, excessive gestational weight gain, and ANC visits did not show significant relationships. Multivariate analysis identified intrauterine growth restriction as the most dominant risk factor (AOR=18.616), followed by preeclampsia (AOR=3.164) and hypertension (AOR=2.477). Conclusion: Intrauterine growth restriction, preeclampsia, and hypertension are the primary determinants of LBW incidence in West Sumatra. Strengthening the quality of medical risk screening and intensive fetal growth monitoring within antenatal care (ANC) services is urgently required as a preventive measure.

Abstract

Fadhila Maternal and Child Hospital (RSIA) Batusangkar faces several strategic challenges, including suboptimal financial performance, limitations in facilities and infrastructure, insufficient human resources, and increasing competition in healthcare services. These conditions indicate the need for a strategic plan that is aligned with the hospital's internal capabilities and external environmental changes. This study aims to formulate a strategic plan for Fadhila Maternal and Child Hospital for the 2026–2030 period. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving 19 informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document review. Strategic analysis was conducted using the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE), External Factor Evaluation (EFE), Internal-External (IE), Grand Strategy, Strategic Position and Action Evaluation (SPACE), and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The results showed an IFE score of 2.965 and an EFE score of 2.984. The IE Matrix positioned the hospital in Cell V (hold and maintain), while the Grand Strategy Matrix placed it in Quadrant I and the SPACE Matrix positioned it in the conservative quadrant. The QSPM analysis identified five strategic priorities, with the highest priority being the gradual improvement of medical and non-medical facilities and infrastructure (STAS 5.458), followed by improving the quantity and quality of human resources (STAS 5.358) and strengthening market penetration through promotion and referral networks (STAS 5.171). The study concludes that the strategic direction of Fadhila Maternal and Child Hospital should focus on product development and market penetration while strengthening internal capacity to support sustainable growth.
