Abstract

The acceptance of digital zakat technology is important to be researched, especially on the factors that affect the intention of users of online zakat applications which ultimately leads to the decision to use the application. This study examines factors influencing the intention and decision of muzakki to adopt digital zakat platforms at BAZNAS South Tangerang City. By using the Unified Theory Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model with four variables, including performance expectation, effort expectation, social influence and facilitating conditions as well as expanding the model by adding variables such as hedonic motivation, price value, habit, perceived risk, and zakat knowledge. Using a sample of 198 respondents from BAZNAS South Tangerang City, the data that has been collected is analyzed using the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method. The results of the analysis found that the variables of the UTAUT model were not a significant factor that affected the intention of the muzakki to decide to use the online zakat application. Meanwhile, the variables of the expansion of the model are a significant factor that affects the intention and decision of muzakki to use online zakat.   Keywords: UTAUT, SEM, BAZNAS, sharia fintech

Abstract

In recent years, Indonesia's economy has grown steadily, supported by strong household purchasing power and stable investment. However, this stability was disrupted with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. This study aims to analyze the effect of macroeconomic variables on the collection of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah at BAZNAS Central during the 2015–2024 period. The research use secondary quarterly time-series data from 2015 to 2024. The analysis is conducted using descriptive analysis combined with the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method. The results show more clearly that GDP consistently exerts a positive and significant influence on zakat as well as infaq and shadaqah receipts in both the short and long run, confirming the central role of economic growth in strengthening Islamic philanthropic capacity. Meanwhile, the Consumer Price Index (CPI), as a proxy for inflation, and the BI Rate were not proven to significantly affect infaq and shadaqah receipts; however, CPI demonstrates a positive long-run effect on zakat, and the BI Rate shows a negative but weak influence, indicating limited monetary policy transmission to ZIS behavior. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was found to be significantly negative for zakat receipts, but relatively insignificant for infaq and shadaqah. Furthermore, digitalization at BAZNAS is shown to significantly increase ZIS collection, underscoring the growing role of technological adoption in expanding accessibility and strengthening fundraising performance. Overall, these findings highlight the need for macroeconomic stability and continuous digital transformation to optimize ZIS mobilization.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of Indonesia's Hajj financial management regulations following the establishment of the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) under Law No. 34 of 2014. With increasing pilgrim demand exceeding available quotas, effective management of accumulated Hajj funds has become critical for ensuring pilgrim welfare and maintaining public trust. The research employs Value Chain Analysis and Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) methodologies through expert interviews and questionnaire surveys with key stakeholders. Value Chain Analysis identified nine key activities within BPKH's operations, while RIA evaluated policy impacts through systematic assessment of costs, benefits, and stakeholder perspectives. Findings reveal that BPKH's establishment significantly improved Hajj financial management with 100% expert consensus on enhanced transparency, efficiency, and accountability. However, the policy framework remains suboptimal due to service disparities among pilgrims, suboptimal investment returns, and incomplete institutional coordination. The study concludes that Law No. 34/2014 represents significant advancement in establishing clearer investment parameters and accountability frameworks, though digital transformation challenges persist. The research recommends strengthening investment risk management, expanding virtual account systems, and prioritizing comprehensive digital infrastructure development including IoT integration for operational monitoring, artificial intelligence for investment optimization, and blockchain technology for enhanced security while maintaining Sharia compliance.

Abstract

Zakat, Infaq, and Alms (ZIS) Management Institutions rely heavily on public trust to ensure sustainable long-term support. Despite its importance, the existing literature still lacks an integrated model linking organizational operational performance with stakeholder behavioral outcomes. This study aims to assess how institutional practices, including communication, perceived competency, and disbursement, influence trust and subsequently affect stakeholder attitudes and behavioral intentions toward ZIS institutions. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal-descriptive design. Data were collected through a survey of ZIS Institution stakeholders and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that trust is a central factor that significantly shapes stakeholders’ attitudes and behavioral intentions. Specifically, perceived competence is the strongest and most significant predictor of trust. In contrast, the fund disbursement variable was found to be insignificant in building trust. Trust has significant predictive power in shaping attitudes, but its influence on behavioral intentions is moderate. The main contribution of this study is to provide empirical evidence that ZIS institutions’ efforts should focus on improving managerial competence and professionalism, not just on the fund distribution process, as a strategic key to increasing public trust.

Abstract

Prosperity can be achieved through poverty alleviation. One of the measuring tools for measuring the impact of poverty alleviation programs is the CIBEST Model. While the CIBEST model has been primarily used in the fields of zakat and waqf, this model still needs to be disseminated to other segments for a broader impact, including Islamic boarding schools. The community service program conducted at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Hakim aimed to enhance understanding of the application of the CIBEST model in pesantren. The methods used in this service were dissemination in the form of material presentations and assessments in the form of post-test. Program evaluation results showed that participants had a good level of understanding, with the highest score reaching 90. Participants gave positive feedback and suggested expanding the theoretical scope and increasing the program's socialization. The obstacle faced in the socialization was the limited time so that participants could study the material thoroughly. The signing of a Letter of Intent between IPB University and Pondok Pesantren Nurul Hakim was conducted as a strategic commitment to program sustainability. This step aims to ensure that the program can continue sustainably and provide long-term benefits. With continuous collaboration and ongoing development of program materials, it is hoped that this activity can have a broader impact on the community. Recommendations from this program include increasing socialization, developing program materials, and involving more parties to strengthen understanding of the CIBEST Model. It is hoped that this program can make a significant contribution to improving community welfare and empowering the pesantren community to implement it sustainably.

Abstract

Micro and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) as part of MSMEs have an important role in the national economy, including increasing economic growth, supporting economic stabilization, improving public welfare, alleviating poverty, and reducing unemployment rates. However, in its development, MSMEs face many challenges, including capital problems and low access to financial service institutions. Meanwhile, financial inclusion is one of the government's efforts to provide greater access to MSME actors so that they can use financial products and services. This study aims to determine whether financial inclusion and socio-demographic factors can affect MSME performance. The research methods used are multiple regression analysis, interaction test, and ANOVA tests. The study results indicate that financial inclusion significantly positively impacts Micro and Small business Performance in the DKI Jakarta area. This study also shows that socio-demographic factors, especially gender, business age, and generation of MSME actors, significantly influence MSME performance in the DKI Jakarta area. On the other hand, this study provides information that the perception of the performance of MSESs using conventional financial service institutions has a higher value than that of MSESs using sharia financial service institutions. Meanwhile, the lowest perception of MSES performance is held by MSES actors who do not use financial service institutions.
