Abstract

Purpose – This study examines how the credibility and usefulness of social media electronic word of mouth (eWOM) affects information adoption and how it subsequently influences donor engagement, donation intention, and donation decisions among urban Muslims in Indonesia. It also explores differences in donation behavior based on the motivation type.Methodology – This study employed a quantitative approach using survey data from 230 Muslim respondents in Greater Jakarta. The analysis utilized descriptive statistics and Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), including outer model evaluation (validity and reliability) and inner model analysis (hypothesis testing).Findings – All proposed hypotheses are supported. eWOM credibility is the strongest predictor of information adoption, significantly enhancing donor engagement, donation intention, and actual donation decisions. Donor engagement further increases intention, which strongly predicts decisions. The descriptive results show that humanitarian donations are the most dominant, particularly among young Muslim women aged 20–24, driven by empathy and social media engagement. Instagram is the primary reference source and Kitabisa.com is the most frequently used donation platform.Implications – This research is useful for digital fundraising platforms and NGOs that aim to improve engagement by focusing on emotionally credible content, platform usability, and micro-donation options, especially for humanitarian and crowdfunding campaigns targeting younger Muslim donors.Originality – This study contributes to the literature by integrating descriptive donation motivation typologies with SEM-PLS analysis to provide a comprehensive understanding of digital Islamic philanthropic behavior among urban Muslim communities.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the impact of microprudential policies, specifically spin-offs, conversions, and mergers, on Islamic banks in Indonesia, both directly and indirectly through transmission variables, in relation to the growth of the Islamic banking market share. The method used in this study is the dynamic ARDL model, which was chosen for its ability to accommodate data stationarity, cointegration, and short- and long-term relationships. This study utilizes monthly time series data from Bank Umum Syariah (BUS) and Unit Usaha Syariah (UUS) in Indonesia, covering the period from January 2008 to December 2023, resulting in 192 observations for each variable. The data were processed using MS Excel and EViews 10. This research finds that only conversion has a significant direct impact on market share in both the short and long run, while mergers are significant only in the long run, and spin-offs are insignificant in both time frames. As for the transmission variables, DPK and ROA consistently drive market share growth in both the short and long run. NPF is significant only in the long-term simultaneous impact model, where its increase hampers market share growth, whereas FDR is significant only in the short-term simultaneous impact model, where its increase promotes market share. This study incorporates all three microprudential policies—spin-offs, conversions, and mergers—within a single equation model, accompanied by the use of a dynamic model that has not been employed in previous studies. This approach allows for the examination of both short-term and long-term effects.

Abstract

Human capital is widely acknowledged not only as a key driver of economic growth and poverty reduction but also as the ultimate objective of development, focused on expanding human freedoms. While government social spending is intended to achieve welfare objectives, it remains insufficient to fully finance public goods, necessitating alternative funding sources. Zakat, Infak, and Sedekah (ZIS) funds represent potential complementary resources, given their shared objective of promoting social welfare. This study aims to examine the role of integrated financing—social spending and ZIS—in enhancing human development in Indonesia. Using panel data from 34 provinces over the period of 2013–2022 and applying the System Generalized Method of Moments (Sys-GMM), the analysis evaluates both the independent and interactive effects of these funding sources. The findings reveal that social spending and ZIS individually exert a positive and significant effect on human development, while their integration produces a stronger and more substantial impact. These results highlight the importance of harmonizing Islamic social finance with state expenditures to accelerate human development outcomes. The study contributes to the literature as the first to apply a Sys-GMM approach in examining the interaction between social spending and ZIS, offering novel insights into the design of sustainable and inclusive development financing in Indonesia.

To find out the value of the distribution of benefits in Nazhir institutions has increased after participating in competency training and certification; and 5. To find out the competency-based deals , this certification influences reporting through BWI e-reporting. Respondents in this study were participants in competency training and certification, both those who work as nazhir and non-nazhir. The data analysis method in this study is Partial Least Square (PLS). The study results show that nazhir competency certification has a positive and significant effect on nazhir performance and non-nazhir participation in the waqf movement. The element of the competency certification assessment that has a high score is the attitude element. The component of Nazhir's performance, which has a high value, is from increasing the collection of waqf, while from non-Nazhir's participation which has a high value, is participation in the form of disseminating information to relatives, friends, and the work environment. The results of this study imply that it is necessary to make changes in the assessment of nazhir competence so that elements of knowledge and skills can have the same value as attitude.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the influence of Open Market Operations (Sertifikat Bank Indonesia Syariah, SBIS), Sukuk of Bank Indonesia (Sukuk Bank Indonesia, SukBI), Bank Indonesia Sharia Deposit Facility (Fasilitas Simpanan Bank Indonesia, FASBIS), Islamic Interbank Money Market (IIMM/Pasar Uang Antar Bank Syariah, PUAS), and Islamic Bank Financing on economic growth and inflation in Indonesia. Methodology – This study uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), which uses monthly data from January 2017 to December 2022.Findings – The results of the VECM analysis show that, in the short and long term, the FASBIS and PUAS variables significantly affect economic growth. The Covid-19 pandemic has a significant effect in the short term, whereas Islamic Bank Financing has a significant effect in the long term. In the Inflation model, only FASBIS has a significant short-term effect. In the long-term, FASBIS, PUAS, and Islamic Bank Financing significantly affect inflation. Implications – The results of this research suggest that the Government and Bank Indonesia will need to re-evaluate Sharia Open Market Operations, especially SBIS and SukBI instruments. This is the impact of the estimation results on the Open Market Operation variable, which are not significant, and the IRF results, which are negative in the Economic Growth Model and positive in the Inflation Model, indicating that the Open Market Operation variable actually inhibits economic growth and triggers inflation. Originality – This study discusses the influence of Sharia monetary instruments before and after the Covid-19 pandemic and adds the SukBI instrument as a Sharia monetary instrument.

Abstract

The 11th Global Food Security Index (2022) shows an increase in agriculture risk and a decline in the food environment for the third year which is feared to threaten global food security.  It is urgent to have more concern for food security in advanced and emerging economies, such as Developing Eight (D-8) economies.  This paper analyzes the determinants of agriculture credit supply in D-8’s banking and how they affect agriculture risk.  The study uses panel quarterly time series data from 2013Q01-2022Q04 and cross-section data from 7 countries as members of the Developing Eight (D8) Organization. This study employs the dynamic panel analysis, Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PARDL) - Pooled Mean Group (PMG) approach. The result shows that agriculture credit supply and its explanatory variables have a significant relationship in the long run. Unfortunately, only previous credit supply and agriculture risk contribute to the agriculture credit supply in the short run. The result varies across countries in the short run.  Banking in Indonesia considers agricultural risk by decreasing the agricultural credit supply while banking in Malaysia and Turkey maintains a positive agricultural credit supply despite the increase in agricultural risk.
