Abstract

Islam, which once hegemoned world civilization, cannot be separated from its superior economic concept, one of which is about waqf. In Islamic history, the most famous waqf is the waqf of Umar bin Khattab and Uthman bin Affan, which is in the form of a palm garden and a well. These date palm gardens and wells can be called as productive waqf for the welfare of Muslims to this day. From this historical evidence, all Muslims should be aware that Islam already has a superior economic concept of the people, and has manifested in a civilization in the economic field long before the rise of the secular economy, which is precisely where Muslims today are oriented there. Baitul Wakaf is one of the productive waqf management institutions based in Jakarta. Based on the percentage of Baitul wakaf receipts in 2021, direct waqf contributed 82.5 percent and the surplus productive waqf only contributed 17.5 percent which identified the non-optimal management of productive waqf in Baitul wakaf. This study aims to find a priority strategy for productive waqf management in Baitul wakaf. The research method uses the analytical network process (ANP) method, which is a decision-making method with many interrelated criteria. The factors that influence the management of productive waqf in Baitul wakaf are divided into four aspects, they are strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The results of this study indicate that the most priority strategy in the management of productive waqf in the Baitul wakaf is to increase the professionalism of nazhir with a value of 0.2641, then followed sequentially by the strategy of education and socialization of waqf with a value of 0.25464, digitizing waqf services with a value of 0.24480 and followed by a strategy cooperation and partnership with internal and external institutions with the lowest score of 0.22492.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, zakat played a crucial role in mitigating the community’s economicrisks. Although technological developments have encouraged the emergence of digital zakat paymentplatforms, their adoption in South Kalimantan has been relatively slow. Many zakat payers (muzaki) continue to prefer traditional methods of zakat payment. This study aims to understand the reasons behind this preference by examining muzaki’s perceptions, subjective norms, and attitudes, as well as their relation to the spiritual comfort they experience. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with academics, zakat payers, and staff from Zakat Management Organizations (BAZNAS and LAZNAS) in South Kalimantan. The findings reveal that muzaki’s perceptions of traditional zakat payment are driven by several key factors, including proximity to zakatreceiving institutions, deeply rooted habits, ease of implementation, and negative perceptions of digital zakat methods. Muzaki’s subjective norms regarding zakatare shaped by various sources of knowledge, such as digital media, BAZNAS services, government initiatives, print media, banking institutions, self-initiative, family, religious scholars, digital literacy, and peers. Muzaki’s attitudes in the re-actualization of zakat managementare reflected in efforts to explain zakat payment methods at BAZNAS, provide information about zakat institutions, encourage others to pay zakat, and describe zakat distribution and utilization programs. In addition, the study finds that factors influencing muzaki’s decision to pay zakat directly include the perceived importance of akad (contract) in zakat payment, satisfaction, the use of bank accounts, the lack of legal endorsementand socialization from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), as well as limited communication about zakat digitalization, which leads some muzaki to reject digital zakat payments. Theoretically, these findings reinforce the Theory of Planned Behavior, the concept of maslahah in Islamic economics, and the Spiritual Well-being Theory in explaining the interconnectedness of religious values, culture, and spiritual comfort with muzaki behavior. Practically, the results provide insights for zakat institutions to design digitalization strategies that are sensitive to spiritual and local cultural values, ensuring that technological innovation aligns with the preservation of meaningful religious practices.

Abstract

One Way to maintain the stability of banking industry is by applying the deposit insurance scheme. The application of the deposit insurance scheme has an impact by increasing the level of bank deposits. The objectives of the research are to identify the factors affecting the level of deposits of Islamic banks in Indonesia and managerial implications regarding to the functions of Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS). The technique used is the panel data regression with fixed effect model using the data from the 11 Islamic banks for the period of 2011 -2015. The results show that the factors affecting the level of deposits of the Islamic banks in Indonesia significantly and positively include the size of banks and their non-performing financing (NPF); however, they influence the capital negatively. Based on these results, LPS is required to build or sharpen the surveillance systems as part of its early detection by doing the mapping based on the size and to monitor the bank capital structure and bank finance portfolio structure.DOI: 10.15408/aiq.v9i2.5156

Abstract

As an important and potential instrument for national development, Zakah will continue to require development innovations. One of the innovation is through cooperation between BAZNAS and Laku Pandai which aims to achieve Zakah inclusion so that the collection and distribution of Zakah in Indonesia can increase. This cooperation is still relatively young so the implementation still needs to identify the problem and strategy. This study aims to analyze the strategic priorities for BAZNAS in running cooperation with Laku Pandai. This study used SWOT-ANP method with respondents as many as five expert respondents. The strategies derived from this research are the result of the formulation of a combination of SWOT factors. The main findings of this study indicate that the main priority of the overall strategy is strengthening the synergy of BAZNAS with the Laku Pandai of sharia banking.
