This research uses the descriptive method of analysis. The object in this research is in the form of a written work entitled Tafsir Marah Labaid by Imama Nawawi, as for the focus of the research is the interpretation of verses of the Qur'an that are vilified with slander. Shaykh Nawawi al-Bantani understands the verse of slander, both in terms of language and terminology. When interpreting Surah al-Nur [24]: 11 Shaykh Nawawi understood backbiting with the word al-Ifku, which is a lie and a lie, meaning a person who brings false news. Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic law in addressing global warming, focusing on case studies from Indonesia and Western contexts. As emphasized by Indian scholar Mukherjee A, climate change has emerged as an escalating global threat driven primarily by human actions such as excessive fossil fuel consumption, deforestation for industrialization and urbanization, and rapid population growth. These activities accelerate global warming and permanently disrupt ecosystems, leading to significant human suffering. Within Islamic jurisprudence, the principle of Fiqh al-Bī’ah (Islamic environmental jurisprudence) provides both a moral and legal foundation for maintaining ecological balance. Classical Muslim scholars emphasize stewardship (khilāfah) and accountability (mas’ūliyyah) as ethical imperatives guiding human responsibility toward nature. In the contemporary context, Islamic law extends these principles through maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, particularly the preservation of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs) and nature (ḥifẓ al-bi’ah), which demand sustainable and responsible engagement with the environment. This research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) alongside an analysis of classical Islamic works, examining 578 scholarly papers to ensure comprehensive coverage. The Miles and Huberman framework, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, was applied to guide the data analysis. The findings reveal that Islamic law offers both normative and practical mechanisms for mitigating climate change: (1) strengthening Fiqh al-Bī’ah as a legal-ethical response, (2) promoting ecological citizenship within Society 5.0, (3) enforcing robust environmental regulations and local capacity building, and (4) integrating technological innovation with sustainable practices. The study concludes that Islamic law provides a holistic ethical and legal foundation for environmental stewardship, harmonizing traditional jurisprudence with modern sustainability initiatives to address global warming both globally and locally.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method on students’ learning motivation and social character development within the context of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Reflecting Nelson Mandela’s assertion that education is the most powerful tool to change the world, fostering a supportive learning environment is especially vital in the digital era and the post-Covid-19 period, both of which have significantly affected student motivation and character formation. PBL emerges as a relevant and effective approach to meet these challenges. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining quantitative methods to measure key variables and qualitative methods for deeper insights through interviews and observations. Data collection involved 25 questionnaire items and 6 interview questions administered to educators and students, with a total of 128 survey respondents and 10 interview participants from SMAN 2 Bandung and MAN Cimahi City. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were processed using Miles and Huberman’s framework, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal that PBL positively influences learning motivation and supports the development of four key dimensions of social character: (1) religiosity, (2) worship, (3) responsibility, and (4) tolerance. Notably, SMAN 2 Bandung showed the greatest improvement in tolerance (3.71), whereas MAN Cimahi City excelled in the worship dimension (3.70). Overall, worship and tolerance were the most significantly affected aspects. These findings suggest that integrating PBL into PAI can enhance students' academic engagement and deepen the internalization of religious values. This study contributes empirical evidence that PBL fosters not only cognitive growth but also social and spiritual development, offering practical recommendations for educators and policymakers to create more effective, student-centered PAI learning models in a post-pandemic educational landscape.

Abstract

This article analyzes the existence and juridical status of DNA testing in the determination (ithbāt) (establishment of lineage status) and negation (nafy) (denial, annulment, or rejection of lineage relationship) of lineage within the framework of Islamic family law through the perspective of the fatwas of Ali Jum’ah. The rapid development of forensic genetic technology has challenged the classical Fiqh framework, which traditionally recognizes liʿān (as the only legitimate mechanism for denying lineage). This study aims to reassess the relevance of Ali Jumʿah’s legal reasoning in the contemporary context by comparing legal approaches in Indonesia, selected Middle Eastern countries, and Western jurisdictions. This research employs a juridical-normative approach combined with comparative legal analysis and socio-legal perspectives. The study analyzes authoritative literature, fatwas of Islamic institutions, statutory regulations, and selected judicial decisions related to paternity determination and denial. The findings demonstrate that Middle Eastern legal systems generally recognize DNA evidence as qarīnah qawiyyah for verifying lineage but reject its use for nafyu al-nasab, consistent with Ali Jumʿah’s fatwa. Indonesia adopts a moderate approach, allowing DNA as corroborative evidence for determining biological relations but not as an independent basis for denying nasab in Islamic law. In contrast, Western legal systems treat DNA evidence as the primary determinant of paternity regardless of marital status. This study contributes to the development of an integrative framework for Islamic family law reform, proposing that DNA testing should function as strong corroborative evidence within a maqāṣid al-sharīʿah (Objectives of Shariah) framework that prioritizes the protection of lineage (ḥifẓ al-nasab), family stability, and the rights of the child.

Abstract

The diversity of student characteristics poses a challenge in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) instruction, particularly regarding the History of Islamic Civilization curriculum in elementary schools, where teaching practices still tend to be uniform. Although differentiated instruction has been extensively studied, research highlighting teachers’ real-world experiences in implementing it in the classroom remains limited. This study aims to explore teachers’ experiences in applying differentiated instruction to the teaching of the IRE. This study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design involving one IRE teacher at an elementary school. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and were subsequently analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. The results indicate that differentiated instruction is implemented concretely through grouping students based on learning style preferences (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), adapting tasks to students’ readiness levels, using varied media, and employing product-based assessments such as infographics, presentations, and role-plays. The findings also suggest that these strategies enhance student engagement, classroom interaction, and understanding of historical content.  This study contributes to our understanding of how differentiated instruction is implemented in Islamic Religius Education classrooms, particularly in the context of elementary schools, and serves as a practical guide for teachers in developing more inclusive and student-centered instruction that responds to student diversity.
