Abstract

Background Many students struggle to understand complex academic material, which negatively impacts their academic performance Purpose This study aims to examine the influence of psychomotor and cognitive aspects on the academic achievement of management students at Muhammadiyah University of East Kalimantan. Design/method/approach This study uses a quantitative research design. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed directly to the selected students, as well as documentation of their academic records. The sample of 180 students was determined using the Slovin formula and selected by random sampling from a total population of 328 students. The collected data were analyzed statistically using SPSS 27 software, employing classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing to assess the relationship between cognitive factors and academic achievement. Results The analysis revealed that cognitive aspects have a significant positive influence on the academic achievement of eighth-semester management students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. Students who demonstrated stronger cognitive skills—such as critical thinking, understanding, and the ability to analyze material—tended to achieve higher academic performance, as reflected in their GPA and other academic indicators. The statistical results from multiple linear regression showed that the cognitive variable contributed meaningfully to variations in students’ academic success. These findings suggest that efforts to enhance cognitive abilities among students can lead to improved academic outcomes in higher education settings. Contribution/value This study provides valuable insight into the specific role of cognitive aspects in shaping academic achievement among eighth-semester management students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. The findings offer practical recommendations for educators to design learning strategies that better support students’ cognitive growth.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh beban kerja dan stres kerja terhadap turnover intention dengan kepuasan kerja sebagai variabel intervening pada karyawan PT. Sumber Sari Kimia Chemical Surabaya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan asosiatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh karyawan yang bekerja di Unit Chemical dan Unit Laundry pada tahun 2022 dengan jumlah total sebanyak 112 orang. Adapun jumlah sampel yang digunakan adalah sebanyak 89 responden yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling.Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner, dan analisis data menggunakan metode Partial Least Square (PLS) dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SmartPLS 3.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Beban kerja berpengaruh positif terhadap turnover intention, yang berarti semakin tinggi beban kerja, maka semakin tinggi pula keinginan karyawan untuk keluar dari perusahaan. (2) Stres kerja juga berpengaruh positif terhadap turnover intention, menunjukkan bahwa stres yang tinggi dapat meningkatkan niat karyawan untuk meninggalkan perusahaan. (3) Beban kerja berpengaruh terhadap turnover intention secara tidak langsung melalui kepuasan kerja, artinya kepuasan kerja memediasi hubungan antara beban kerja dan turnover intention. (4) Stres kerja juga berpengaruh terhadap turnover intention melalui kepuasan kerja, menunjukkan bahwa kepuasan kerja mampu menurunkan pengaruh stres kerja terhadap keinginan keluar dari pekerjaan.

Abstract

This study explores how organizational culture and work discipline influence employee performance at the Regional Inspectorate of East Kalimantan Province. The research is driven by problems such as low employee initiative, poor internal communication, and delays in e-performance input. A quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis was applied. Data were collected through questionnaires from 86 respondents and analyzed using SPSS version 29. The findings show that both organizational culture and work discipline have a significant and positive effect on employee performance. Internal communication is the dominant aspect of culture, promoting coordination and a supportive work atmosphere. Discipline affects task completion quality and punctuality. The regression model indicates that 67.1% of performance variation is explained by these two variables. These results emphasize the importance of building strong cultural values and enforcing discipline to improve performance and accountability in public institutions.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon that student academic achievement is not only determined by cognitive abilities, but also influenced by affective aspects such as motivation, self-confidence, emotional regulation, and academic engagement. This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of affective aspects on student academic achievement. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The number of samples used was 185 students using the slovin formula, a simple linear regression analysis tool which became the analysis technique.  The results showed that there is a positive and significant influence between affective aspects on student academic achievement. This finding also shows the importance of maximizing affective aspects in improving academic achievement and supporting student academic success.

Abstract

Peramalan adalah teknik penting untuk mengestimasi nilai masa depan berdasarkan data historis. Namun, metode peramalan sering menghadapi tantangan dalam memilih model dengan tingkat akurasi terbaik. Penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan kinerja metode Jaringan Syaraf Tiruan (JST) dan Fuzzy Metode Sugeno serta gabungan kedua metode yang disebut Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). Ketiga metode digunakan untuk meramalkan inflasi bulanan Indonesia. Penerapan ketiga metode membutuhkan penentuan input yang berdasarkan stasioner dan PACF. Data tidak stasioner lag 2 sehingga Differencing lag 2 kemudian tidak ada lag yang keluar pada PACF. Berdasarkan kedua hal tersebut ditentukan inputnya ialah  dan . Hasil menunjukkan bahwa metode JST dengan 3 lapisan tersembunyi dengan banyak neuron (2,1,1) memberikan kinerja terbaik (nilai RMSE terkecil sebesar 1,16127 pada data testing). Metode terbaik tersebut digunakan untuk meramalkan Inflasi bulan September 2023 hingga Desember 2024 cenderung konstan antara 2,68879% hingga 2,68887%. Kontribusi riset ini adalah metode advance (ANFIS) dengan menggabungankan dua metode (JST dan Fuzzy) belum tentu lebih baik daripada metode tanpa penggabungan (JST atau Fuzzy).   Abstract Forecasting is an important technique for estimating future values ​​based on historical data. However, forecasting methods often face challenges in choosing a model with the best level of accuracy. This study aims to compare the performance of the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Fuzzy Sugeno Method methods and a combination of the two methods called the Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The third method is used to predict Indonesia's monthly inflation. The application of the third method requires input determination based on stationary and PACF. The data is not stationary lag 2 so that Differencing lag 2 then there is no lag that comes out in PACF. Based on these two things, the input is determined to be Y_(t-1) and Y_(t-2). The results show that the ANN method with 3 hidden layers with many neurons (2,1,1) gives the best performance (the smallest RMSE value is 1.16127 on the test data). The best method used to predict inflation from September 2023 to December 2024 tends to be constant between 2.68879% to 2.68887%. The contribution of this research is that the advanced method (ANFIS) by combining two methods (ANN and Fuzzy) is not necessarily better than the method without combining (ANN or Fuzzy).

Abstract

The main problem in this study lies in the imbalance of workload, especially in the distribution of tasks in the work environment. This imbalance causes some employees to experience fatigue due to excessive workload, while others lack responsibility. In addition, problems also arise in aspects of the work environment, especially related to the instability of working time caused by the limited number of workers. This condition hinders work flexibility and reduces opportunities for interaction between teams, which in turn has the potential to reduce overall organizational effectiveness. This study aims to analyze the effect of workload and work environment on employee performance at the Regional Inspectorate of East Kalimantan Province. The research method used is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis techniques, using the help of SPSS software version 29. This analysis is complemented by validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests, which include normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests. To measure the influence on variables, a partial test (t test), simultaneous test (F test), and calculation of the coefficient of determination (R²) are used. The results of the study stated that: (1) Workload has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. (2) The work environment has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. (3) Workload and environment together have a positive and significant effect on employee performance at the Regional Inspectorate of East Kalimantan Province.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of cognitive aspects on students' academic achievement. Cognitive aspects include the ability to think, understand, remember, analyze, and apply knowledge in the learning process. The research employs a quantitative approach, with a population consisting of 328 eighth-semester students from the Management undergraduate program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. A sample of 180 respondents was selected using random sampling based on the Slovin formula. Data were collected through questionnaires and academic records (GPA). The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The results indicate that cognitive aspects have a positive and significant effect on students' academic achievement. These findings highlight the importance of developing cognitive abilities to support academic success in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of workload on the performance of Generation Z employees at Pizza Hut outlets in Samarinda City. The formulation of the problem in this study is whether workload has an influence on the performance of Generation Z employees. The research method used is quantitative with a positive approach. The data collection technique was carried out through distributing questionnaires to Generation Z employees at Pizza Hut Samarinda outlets. Data analysis using simple linear regression test to see the influence between workload on employee performance. The results showed that workload had a positive and significant effect on the performance of Generation Z employees. A balanced workload can encourage improved performance, but too much load often tends to reduce productivity and cause stress. The conclusion of this study is that proportional workload management is important to maintain and improve employee performance, especially for Generation Z who are still in the adaptation stage to the world of work.

Abstract

The Bayesian approach is one of the parameter estimation methods that can be applied to Zero-Inflated Negative Binomial (ZINB) regression analysis. The ZINB regression model is used to analyze over-dispersion data with excess zeros. This study aims to evaluate the performance of ZINB regression parameter estimation using a Bayesian approach with Cauchy prior in pneumonia studies. The analysis is applied to secondary data as well as to simulated data with various scenarios based on different sample sizes and proportions of zero values such that the optimal model can be determined. The results show that ZINB regression models using the Bayesian approach provide stable parameter estimates as sample sizes and proportions of zeros increase. In cases of under-five deaths due to pneumonia, the data often contains many zeros because not all regions report cases. The ZINB model effectively addresses over-dispersion and excess zeros through a combination of negative binomial and zero-inflation models. This provides more accurate modeling results to support policymaking. The Bayesian approach also provides flexibility in integrating prior information and handling small samples, making the ZINB model well suited for health data with rare events and many zeros.

Abstract

                Employee productivity is a crucial element in determining the operational success of a company, which is influenced by internal factors such as technical skills and working conditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which technical skills contribute to increasing employee productivity at PT Sumber Bara Abadi, considering the role of the work environment as a mediating variable. The research approach is quantitative, using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique. The population in this study includes all 70 permanent employees of the company, where the entire population was used as the sample through saturated sampling due to its limited size. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire designed to assess aspects of technical skills, work environment, and employee productivity levels. The analysis results indicate that technical skills have a positive and significant influence on productivity, and technical skills also have a positive and significant influence on the work environment. Additionally, the work environment is also proven to have a positive and significant influence on employee productivity. Other findings confirm that technical skills influence employee productivity through the work environment. Based on these results, it is recommended that companies develop technical skills training programs integrated with strategies for creating a conducive work environment to promote optimal and sustainable productivity.
