Abstract

Poverty is a development issue closely related to the quality of human resources, particularly education. This study aims to analyze the effect of male Expected Years of Schooling (AHLS) on the number of poor people in Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative approach with secondary time series data for the period 2014-2024 sourced from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). The population and sample of this study are all national data on male AHLS and the number of poor people during the observation period. The analytical method used is simple linear regression with data transformed into natural logarithms and processed using SPSS software, preceded by a classical assumption test. The results show that AHLS has a negative and significant effect on the number of poor people with a regression coefficient of -2.063 and a significance level of 0.006. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.546 indicates that 54.6 percent of the variation in the number of poor people can be explained by male AHLS. This finding suggests that increasing male education plays a significant role in poverty alleviation efforts through improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study develops a Bayesian bi-response regression model using a truncated spline approach to examine nonlinear effects of economic, dietary, and environmental factors on nutritional and physical stunting. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to evaluate the influence of prior types and knot numbers on model performance using Deviance Information Criterion (DIC), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and bias. Results show that the informative Normal–Gamma prior combination yields the best performance, with the lowest DIC, smallest RMSE, and minimal bias. Models with three knots provide higher predictive accuracy, while noninformative Uniform priors cause instability and overfitting. Overall, the findings indicate that prior specification has a stronger effect on model robustness than the number of knots, emphasizing the importance of informative priors in Bayesian spline modeling for understanding complex, nonlinear determinants of child stunting.

Abstract

The Bayesian approach is one of the parameter estimation methods that can be applied to Zero-Inflated Negative Binomial (ZINB) regression analysis. The ZINB regression model is used to analyze over-dispersion data with excess zeros. This study aims to evaluate the performance of ZINB regression parameter estimation using a Bayesian approach with Cauchy prior in pneumonia studies. The analysis is applied to secondary data as well as to simulated data with various scenarios based on different sample sizes and proportions of zero values such that the optimal model can be determined. The results show that ZINB regression models using the Bayesian approach provide stable parameter estimates as sample sizes and proportions of zeros increase. In cases of under-five deaths due to pneumonia, the data often contains many zeros because not all regions report cases. The ZINB model effectively addresses over-dispersion and excess zeros through a combination of negative binomial and zero-inflation models. This provides more accurate modeling results to support policymaking. The Bayesian approach also provides flexibility in integrating prior information and handling small samples, making the ZINB model well suited for health data with rare events and many zeros.

Abstract

Demonstration-Based Training on Making Eco-Enzymes for Organic Waste Utilization at SDN 4 Penganjuran Banyuwangi Abstract Waste management is a priority issue in various countries, including Indonesia. Waste management by the Banyuwangi Regency government has not yet covered all the total waste in Banyuwangi, and few people are aware that poor waste management will impact the environment and health. The purpose of this community service is to increase public awareness about waste management from an early age, starting with elementary school students, by providing education and training on making eco-enzymes from organic waste. This community service method is carried out in 4 stages: preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This community service was carried out at SDN 4 Penganjuran Banyuwangi, grade VI, with 55 students. The results of the pre-test and post-test, along with qualitative questions about students' knowledge of eco-enzymes, demonstrated a change in understanding before and after receiving information about eco-enzymes, specifically in their ability to explain the meaning, benefits, history, and manufacture of these enzymes. It is hoped that further community service can be added to monitoring the eco-enzyme harvesting process after 3 months.

Abstract

This study aims at evaluating the performance of Zero Inflated Negative Binomial (ZINB) regression analysis using the Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) approach through simulation study. The research data used are secondary data and simulations. Secondary data was obtained from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2023 regarding cases of under-five deaths due to pneumonia with a total of 38 samples. The simulation study is conducted to analyze the performance of ZINB regression based on various sample sizes and proportions of zero values. The results show that the ZINB regression model with the MLE approach produces parameter estimates that tend to be more sensitive to sample size, with improved performance at large sample sizes. Data with a large proportion of zeros reflects high variability as well as the presence of excess zeros, so the ZINB regression model can provide more stable and precise parameter estimates than those with a lower proportion of zeros. Therefore, the ZINB regression model is effective for data with a high proportion of zeros as it fits the characteristics of the data distribution, especially in cases of under-five deaths due to pneumonia.

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting is a problem that is affected by the socioeconomic and environmental conditions of the public. The present study evaluates the impact of the financial state, environmental quality, and child feeding practices on the nutritional and physical stunting using a Bayesian nonparametric truncated spline regression model. To do this, a single knot spline structure was used a capture non-linear affects and thresholds, posterior estimation being conductied with Gibb's sampling. The results exhibit that all of the three predictors have a significance after the knot point on the right arrives, indiacting to saturation affects. As for the economic standing and the environmental quality, their effect is consistent, while feeding practices hold a more considerable impact on the nutritional stunting. From model diagnostics, the model had a good fit and predictive accuracy. The results highlight the importance of feeding practices and economic improvement and environmental sanitation, and display the benefits of the Bayesian spline technique for handling complex data.

Abstract

This study develops a modified multigroup Ramsey RESET (Regression Equation Specification Error Test) within a semiparametric multigroup path model, a statistical framework that combines parametric and nonparametric approaches across multiple groups. Developed using dummy-variable interactions, the method identifies both linear and truncated spline relationships and enables analysis of all groups within a single integrated model, eliminating the need for separate group tests. Simulation studies using empirical data on students’ AI literacy applied combinations of linear and truncated-spline relationship patterns. The method was evaluated using the p-value, Correct-to-Incorrect p-value Ratio, Dominance Ratio, and Accuracy. The results indicate that the modified multigroup Ramsey RESET generally produces larger p-values for models that match the underlying data-generating mechanism than for competing alternative models, demonstrating good discriminatory power in identifying appropriate model specifications. The empirical application further reveals that several relationships among variables exhibit truncated spline patterns rather than purely linear forms. Thus, the proposed method provides an alternative specification test for simultaneously identifying linear and nonlinear relationships within multigroup semiparametric path models.
