Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas penggunaan media kartu kuartet untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian pre-experimental design menggunakan rancangan one group pretest posttest design. Subjek penelitian yang terlibat sebanyak 31 siswa di salah satu kelas SMP di Surabaya. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes tulis hasil belajar. Data yang sudah terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan N-Gain dengan rumus gain score. Hasil analisis N-Gain siswa memperoleh skor tinggi, skor sedang, dan skor rendah. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media kartu efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Environmental literacy in Indonesia, cumulatively, still needs improvement. Efforts to enhance literacy can be made using engaging and educational media, such as animation. This research aims to describe the improvement of students' environmental literacy after the use of animated media. This type of research is pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques used environmental literacy instruments and student responses. Data analysis techniques employed n-gain analysis and paired t-tests. The research findings are: (1) there was an increase in students' environmental literacy as evidenced by a low-criterion gain score; (2) there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Based on the research, it is concluded that the use of animation is capable of improving environmental literacy. This research has implications for students and teachers. Students develop curiosity about the material to be delivered by the teacher. Teachers can also creatively incorporate animation into the material or other learning stages. Based on the research findings, suggestions are offered to teachers to utilize animation as a learning medium, to future researchers to increase the intensity of learning to obtain more robust data, and to students to be aware of the importance of protecting the environment.

Abstract

Argumentation is a core component of critical thinking, one of the essential 21st-century skills. However, exploring this skill remains a challenge, often due to limitations in the available assessment methods. This study aims to offer a solution by utilizing the think-aloud protocol to explore and better understand the argumentation skills of Pre-Service Science Teachers (PSTs). A total of 30 PSTs from a state university in Indonesia participated in the research. Data collection and analysis through the think-aloud protocol were conducted in several stages: procedural briefing, implementation, coding and video analysis, and data interpretation. The findings revealed that the think-aloud protocol was effective in providing deeper insights into argumentation skills and yielded more detailed and accurate data across five key components: claims, evidence, reasoning, counterarguments, and rebuttals. On average, the PSTs demonstrated beginner-level argumentation skills, with the strongest performance in the claim component and weaker results in supporting aspects. Specifically, 5 participants were categorized as proficient, 9 as advanced, 6 as intermediate, and 10 as beginners. These results highlight the need for more effective learning strategies that provide PSTs with greater opportunities to practice constructing and critiquing arguments.

Abstract

Hasil belajar merupakan sesuatu yang penting sebagai tolok ukur perubahan siswa setelah pembelajaran yang mencakup pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan. Namun, hasil belajar siswa masih tergolong rendah karena kurangnya kemampuan membangun pengetahuan sendiri dan rendahnya semangat belajar akibat metode pembelajaran yang masih konvensional. Penggunaan model pembelajaran yang tepat, seperti discovery learning, dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dengan mendorong keaktifan siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil belajar kognitif siswa terhadap penerapan model discovery learning pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest pada siswa kelas VII-A SMP Negeri 13 Surabaya Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar yang dibuktikan dengan hasil perhitungan N-Gain sebesar 0,45 dengan kategori “Sedang” dan juga perbedaan yang signifikan antara pretest dan posttest dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000, di mana nilai 0,000 < 0,05. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model discovery learning dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of learning, student learning outcomes, and student responses to the problem based learning model on environmental pollution material at SMP Negeri 18 Gresik. The type of research used is pre-experimental with one group pre-test post-test design which was tested on 32 students of class VIII A of SMP Negeri 18 Gresik. The research instruments used were learning implementation observation sheets, pre-test and post-test questions, and student response questionnaires. The data obtained were then analyzed by analyzing scores and assessment criteria for learning implementation, analyzing learning outcomes with normality tests, hypothesis testing and n-gain analysis, and assessment criteria for student response questionnaires. The results of the study showed that (1) learning implementation obtained a mode score of 4 which means it was implemented with a percentage of 100% which means all aspects of the activity have been implemented. (2) there is a significant difference in the application of the problem based learning model as seen from the pre-test and post-test scores which obtained an average n-gain of 0.74 with high criteria, and (3) the student response obtained a percentage of 98.12% with very good criteria. Thus it can be concluded that the application of the problem based learning model can improve student learning outcomes. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-experimental dengan one group pre-test post-test design yang diuji pada 32 peserta didik kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 18 Gresik. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, soal pre-test dan  post-test, dan angket respon peserta didik. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan analisis skor dan kriteria penilaian keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, analisis hasil belajar dengan uji normalitas, uji hipotesis dan analisis n-gain, serta kriteria penilaian angket respon peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa (1) keterlaksanaan pembelajaran memperoleh skor modus 4 yang berarti terlaksana dengan persentase 100% yang berarti seluruh aspek kegiatan telah terlaksana. (2) terdapat perbedaan signifikan dari penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning yang dilihat dari skor pre-test dan post-test yang memperoleh rata-rata n-gain 0.74 dengan kriteria tinggi, dan (3) respon peserta didik memperoleh persentase 98,12% dnegan kriteria sanggat baik. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar pserta didik.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' perceptions of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model in enhancing critical thinking skills at junior high school level. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach, the research involved 34 eighth-grade students from SMPN 54 Surabaya as participants. Data collection utilized a validated student response questionnaire designed to assess various aspects of the RADEC model. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, including mean calculations, frequencies, and percentages. The findings indicate that students responded positively to the implementation of the RADEC model, with an average percentage response of 96.51%, indicating very high acceptance. These results affirm that the RADEC model is effective in enhancing learning motivation, active student participation, and ease of understanding the material. Furthermore, the model successfully enhances students' critical thinking skills, aligning with the primary aim of the study. The implications of this research support further development and implementation of the RADEC model within the educational context of Indonesia, aimed at strengthening the quality of learning at the junior high school level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mendeskripsikan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing pada materi getaran dan gelombang, 2) mendeskripsikan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing materi getaran dan gelombang, dan 3) mendeskripsikan respon siswa terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing pada materi getaran dan gelombang. Desain penelitian menggunakan one group pretest-posttest. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP kelas VIII SMPN 9 Gresik dan jumlah sampel yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII-H yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, tes hasil belajar, dan angket respon siswa. Uji normalitas menggunakan metode Shapiro Wilk dan teknik analisis yang digunakan yakni uji t dan analisis N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, 1) persentase keterlaksanaan penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing berada dalam kategori sangat baik, 2) terdapat peningkatan rata-rata hasil belajar siswa dengan kategori baik, dan 3) diperoleh modus skor sebesar 3 respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan kategori baik. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa 1) penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing terlaksana dengan sangat baik, 2) penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, dan 3) respon siswa positif terhadap pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil belajar, keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan respon peserta didik terhadap pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament dengan menggunakan media monopoli IPA. Model yang digunakan yaitu model pre-experimental design dengan rancangan one group pretest-posttest design. Penelitian ini melibatkan 32 peserta didik kelas VIII-D di SMPN 15 Gresik. Teknik pengempulan data menggunakan tes, observasi, dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi sistem ekskresi dengan skor N-gain 0,63 yang menunjukkan kategori sedang. Hasil uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan uji t berpasangan dengan ? = 0,05 diperoleh nilai thitung > ttabel (17,031 > 2,0395), sehingga dalam penelitian ini H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima, yang menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan nilai hasil belajar yang signifikan sebelum dan sesudah diberikan perlakuan. Adapun keterlaksanaan pembelajaran pada setiap pertemuan mendapatkan hasil yang sangat baik dengan persentase pertemuan 1 sebesar 81,6%, pertemuan 2 sebesar 97,6% dan pertemuan 3 mendapatkan 100%. Hasil dari angket respon peserta didik mendapatkan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran TGT dengan media monopoli IPA. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament dengan menggunakan media monopoli IPA dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi sistem ekskresi manusia.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving contemporary era, countries globally, including Indonesia, are compelled to adapt, with the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) highlighting the crucial role of Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication (the 4Cs) for student success in the 21st century, yet traditional teacher-led learning often overlooks critical thinking skill development, contributing to low proficiency levels evident in assessments like the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). This study aims to describe the implementation of the Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create (RADEC) model on critical thinking skills in vibrations. The research design employed is descriptive through a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 34 students in class VIII-A at SMP Negeri 54 Surabaya during the even semester of the academic year 2023/2024. Data collection techniques involved observation, tests, and questionnaires. Research instruments included learning implementation observation sheets, critical thinking skills tests, and student response questionnaires. The test results were analyzed using N-Gain and paired t-tests. The study's findings revealed that implementing the RADEC learning model on vibrations met the criteria very well, with a mode fully implemented. The student's critical thinking skills improved by an N-Gain analysis result of 0.38 and a paired t-test result of 0.000. The students also highly accepted the learning process using the RADEC model in the topic of vibrations, with 86% of statements strongly agreeing. Based on the description above, implementing the RADEC model can enhance students' critical thinking skills regarding vibrations.

Abstract

This research aimed at improving students' conceptual understanding of the excretory system through index card match learning model (ICMLM) integrated with the flipped classroom. This study conducted a pre-experimental with One Group Pre-test-Post-test Design involving 16 students of Junior High School Muhammadiyah 7 Gresik grade VIII within a-twice meeting during limited face-to-face learning. The instruments consisted of pre-test and post-test, learning observation sheets, and questionnaires for student responses. Data collection used test and questionnaire method. Cognitive data analysis of concept understanding using t-test and N Gain. The t-test result obtained a score of 0.000. Besides, the N-Gain test revealed an average score of 0.75, characterized in the high category. This test showed that students' understanding of concepts in detail is increased, namely, 7 students in the medium category and 9 students in the high category.
