Abstract

Objective: This research aims to analyze the profile of students' critical thinking abilities in physics learning, especially electromagnetic material, with the help of a problem-based learning model implemented at a university in Surabaya, Indonesia. Method: The research method used was included in preliminary research with a sample of 19 students. Data collection techniques use critical thinking skills tests, student response questionnaires, and lecturer interviews. Then, the data was analyzed using qualitative descriptions to represent the research results. Results: Analysis shows students' critical thinking skills are still relatively low. Critical thinking indicators that get an average score from high to low are interpretation, analysis, inference, and evaluation. An alternative that can be done to increase students' interest and critical thinking skills is to apply the PBL model in physics learning. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its new contribution to mapping students' initial abilities regarding their critical thinking skills with the help of the PBL model. This mapping helps lecturers evaluate physics learning, especially electromagnetic material, and determine what future steps can be taken to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to identify the profile of senior high school students' critical thinking skills in ecosystem material on several critical thinking indicators compiled by Ennis. Method: This research uses quantitative descriptive methods. The research used six essay questions prepared to analyze students' thinking skills based on several indicators compiled by Ennis. The population in this study were all high school students at one of the senior high schools in West Nusa Tenggara, with the sample being class X students with a total of 60 students. Results: Based on research findings, it is known that the skills of the students in the sample are divided into three categories, namely very low, low, and moderate. Half of the sample size is in the very low category. At the same time, the rest is divided into the low and moderate categories, where a small number of students belong to the moderate category. Novelty: The novelty of this research is to explore the level of students' critical thinking skills using indicators compiled by Ennis. These results will provide an overall understanding of students' critical thinking skills, which teachers can use as a basis for designing learning designs to train students' critical thinking skills to reach the high and very high categories.

Abstract

Pembelajaran di sekolah mengalami perubahan dari pembelajaran konvensional (tatap muka) menjadi pembelajaran daring, mengikuti protokol kesehatan physical distancing yang dianjurkan oleh pemerintah. Keefektifan pembelajaran dimulai dari perencanaan yang tentunya menggunakan prosedur dan konsep yang baik. Studi pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa masih kurangnya pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran . Project based learning (PjBL) merupakan model pembelajaran yang mengajarkan konsep melalui sebuah proyek yang berpusat pada siswa. STEM sebagai pendekatan yang dapat mengintegrasikan pengetahuan, teknologi, teknik, dan matematika serta rancangan implementasi dengan model PjBL untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kebutuhan pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran model PjBL terintegrasi STEM berbasis e-learning pada materi Tekanan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik kuesioner terbuka dan tertutup. Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan bahwa guru membutuhkan perangkat pembelajaran yang baik dan menambah pemahaman konsep siswa

Abstract

The use of sustainable energy sources is becoming increasingly important in responding to future energy challenges. One promising alternative is biomass gasification, which is the process of converting biomass into synthesis gas or methane gas. The potential of gasified biomass as a source of electrical energy has attracted the attention of energy researchers and practitioners. The study aims to illustrate the potential of gasified biomass as a sustainable alternative in generating electrical energy for the future. The research method used is the systematic review method. Systematic review research  is carried out by reviewing certain criteria in a structured manner to determine the evidence base.  The results of the analysis show that gasified biomass has significant potential as a sustainable source of electrical energy.  Biomass that can be used in gasification includes agricultural waste, forest waste, industrial waste, and special energy crops grown specifically for energy purposes. The main advantages of gasified biomass include abundant availability, renewable properties, and the ability to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, gasified biomass can also be integrated with carbon capture and storage technologies to further reduce CO2 emissions.  Biomass gasification has great potential as a sustainable alternative in generating electrical energy for the future.  The thermal efficiency of biomass gasification can reach a higher level compared to the direct combustion of biomass or the use of conventional steam power plants.  Supporting factors for the utilization of gasified biomass include abundant resource potential, waste management, reduction of house gas emissions. ABSTRAK: Penggunaan sumber energi yang berkelanjutan menjadi semakin penting dalam menjawab tantangan energi di masa depan. Salah satu alternatif yang menjanjikan adalah biomassa gasifikasi, yang merupakan proses konversi biomassa menjadi gas sintesis atau gas metana. Potensi biomassa gasifikasi sebagai sumber energi listrik telah menarik perhatian para peneliti dan praktisi energi.Studi ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan potensi biomassa gasifikasi sebagai alternatif berkelanjutan dalam menghasilkan energi listrik untuk masa depan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode systematic review. Penelitian systematic review dilakukan dengan penelaahan dengan kriteria tertentu secara terstruktur untuk mengetahui evidence base. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa biomassa gasifikasi memiliki potensi yang signifikan sebagai sumber energi listrik yang berkelanjutan. Biomassa yang dapat digunakan dalam gasifikasi meliputi limbah pertanian, limbah hutan, limbah industri, dan tanaman energi khusus yang ditanam secara khusus untuk tujuan energi. Keuntungan utama biomassa gasifikasi termasuk ketersediaan yang melimpah, sifat terbarukan, dan kemampuan untuk mengurangi emisi gas rumah kaca. Selain itu, biomassa gasifikasi juga dapat diintegrasikan dengan teknologi penangkapan dan penyimpanan karbon untuk mengurangi emisi CO2 lebih lanjut. Biomassa gasifikasi memiliki potensi besar sebagai alternatif berkelanjutan dalam menghasilkan energi listrik untuk masa depan. Efisiensi termal gasifikasi biomassa dapat mencapai tingkat yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pembakaran langsung biomassa atau penggunaan pembangkit listrik tenaga uap konvensional. Faktor pendukung pemanfaatan biomassa gasifikasi meliputi potensi sumber daya yang melimpah, pengelolaan limbah, reduksi emisis gas rumah kaca.

Abstract

The research aimed to develop an appropriate cognitive assessment for scientific literacy to measure science education students' abilities to identify learning strengths and weaknesses. This research used the R & D method. The normality test and a one-sample t-test was conducted. The specific topic covered in the research is fermented material. The study participants are science education students at a public university in Surabaya, Indonesia. The results indicated that the percentage of question difficulty levels, with 11.11% categorized as difficult and 44.44% categorized as easy. The analysis of test item discrimination reveals that 66.67% fall into the very good category, 11.11% into the good category, and 22.22% into the bad category. The one-sample t-test is conducted, yielding a significance value of 0.0314. Based on the obtained data, with 0.314 > 0.05, the null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted. This implies that the TOSLS instrument influences assessing students' level of scientific literacy ability. The findings of this study serve as a reference and best practice for tertiary institutions seeking to evaluate students' scientific literacy abilities.

Abstract

The characterization of salt levels in fruits with simple techniques still has several challenges to determine. Herein, we successfully present a simple breakthrough to resolve of purity or concentration of a substance by the principle of refraction index with a refractometer. The resulting experiments by mango fruit extracts showed refractive index is produced in NaCl solution at a concentration of 0.1 M; 0.2M; 0.5M; 1 M; 2 M by 1004; 1009; 1016.3; 1017.3; 1058, respectively. More importantly, the highest refractive index produced in mango fruit extract is owned by Manalagi mango with a refractive index of 1047.3, followed by Arum Manis mango with 1041, Banjarnegara mango with 1030, Gadung mango with 1023.3, and Raw mango with 1015,3. Thus, the higher the concentration of the solution would the greater the refractive index produced due to refractive index is inversely proportional to the speed of light in the solution. Therefore, this is a simple technique that can be used to determine salt levels in fruits and allow to select healthy fruit for intake by our body.

Abstract

This study aims to describe active learning through the implementation of experiential learning in improving student learning outcomes. The type of research is Classroom Action Research conducted over 3 learning cycles. Each learning cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were students of class VIII D SMP Negeri 5 Pamekasan as many as 28 students. The research instruments used were test instruments in the form of concept understanding questions and field notes. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis by calculating the average and percentage of classical completeness on the test of improving student learning outcomes in the three cycles. Student learning outcomes based on the percentage of student completeness increased in cycle 1 by 61% with an average of 66, cycle 2 by 75% with an average of 75 and cycle 3 by 93% with an average of 81. The results obtained from cycle 1, cycle, 2, and cycle 3 of active learning through experiential learning approach in science learning can be a reference for teachers or prospective teachers to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Kurikulum merdeka merupakan pembelajaran terpusat pada siswa yang setiap proses pembelajarannya selalu melibatkan siswa. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mendeskripsikan pengembangan keterampilan proses ilmiah dan respon peserta didik terhadap pembelajaran. Metode yang diterapkan pada penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif berjenis penelitian pre-experimental design dengan rancangan one group pretest posttest design. Artinya hanya menggunakan satu kelas yaitu kelas VIII-K yang berjumlah 31 siswa. Datanya dikumpulkan memakai dua teknik yaitu, tes dan angket. Berdasarkan penelitian, model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing diterapkan sebagai upaya meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains sebanyak 3 pertemuan mengalami peningkatan. Persentase ketuntasan pada nilai post-test adalah 93,5%. Sedangkan, untuk N-Gain score sebesar 1 yang dikategorikan tinggi. Hal ini memperlihatkan bahwasanya ada peningkatan kerampilan proses sains. Respon siswa pada pembelajaran yang menerapkan model inkuiri terbimbing pada materi getaran dan gelombang pada kelas VIII-K di SMPN 16 Surabaya sebesar 83,7% yang dikategorikan sangat baik. Jadi, bisa ditarik kesimpulan bahwasanya model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing pada materi getaran dan gelombang bisa meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of cognitive learning outcomes and students' responses to the application of the monopoly media-assisted TGT cooperative model on solar system materials. The research method used is pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest design. This research was conducted at Pamekasan City Junior High School, with 30 research subjects. The data collection technique uses the test method and response questionnaire, with the instruments used being test question sheets and student response questionnaires. The analysis techniques used are N-Gain analysis for improving students' cognitive learning outcomes and quantitative descriptive analysis for student responses. The results of the study show that the TGT cooperative model assisted by monopoly media can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes, as evidenced by the overall average N-Gain score of 0.73 in the high category, and get an average very positive response from students with a percentage of 83%.
