Abstract

Phantoms are used to research image quality and the amount of attenuation as an organ simulation. If done in the human body, it would be hazardous. High radiation exposure can damage cells. Therefore, the phantom is made to resemble the properties and characteristics of a tissue so that the absorbed dose value can be analyzed according to the tissue in the organ. One use of 3D printing technology is in making phantoms. Radiology phantoms must have the same characteristics as human body tissue. This research varies the thickness and infill density of the phantom to get the suitable phantom based on material density, CT number, electron density, and effective dose. The materials used are Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) and Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) with thickness variations of 1 cm, 2 cm, 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm, and infill density variations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100 %. Based on the test parameters carried out, it was found that changes in thickness did not affect the material density, EDG, EDV, and Z eff of the sample. However, changes in thickness are proportional to the CT number and electron density values. Meanwhile, changes in infill density are proportional to changes in material density values, CT number, electron density, and EDV. However, changes in infill density do not affect the EDG and Z eff values. The values obtained for each parameter are compared with the reference organ. Samples made from TPU and PETG are suitable for lung, muscle, soft tissue, and spongy bone.

Abstract

Students’ thinking schemes must be revealed to discover the students’ fundamental problems in solving direct current (DC) electrical circuit problems. Concept maps and problem-solving can be used to reveal students’ thinking schemes. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted on second-semester students who took the Fundamental Physics II course at a private university in Madiun in 2023/2024, totaling 9 students. Data was collected using the documentation method in the form of assignments to make concept maps, tests, and interviews. The results of this study reveal students’ thinking schemes, which can be categorized into computational thinking (CT), non-CT, and combined thinking (CT and non-CT). Non-CT students’ thinking schemes use trial and error methods to solve problems and intuition to conclude.

Abstract

A performance feature is a domain-specific to the organization of knowledge. Well-organized knowledge is characterized when students are able to collaborate the knowledge features of the physics problem.  The knowledge feature can be a cognitive activity where teachers influence students by changing the pattern of knowledge from "defining" to "applying" knowledge. This research aims to analyze whethet the cognitive activity from the teacher can generate student’s argumentation performance features or no. This study is a qualitative descriptive study which involved 100 of high school students in Bandar Lampung.   The data  was collected using a research instrument in the form of reasoned multiple choices which has been validated.  The results of this study showed that students' involvement in cognitive activity by following variety of procedures can generate student’s argumentation performance fetaures.

Abstract

This paper studies the thermodynamic and magnetic properties of some diatomic molecules governed by Scarf and Morse non-central potentials under external magnetic and electric fields. The Schrodinger equation with Scarf and Morse non-central potentials is solved using Supersymmetric WKB quantization conditions to obtain the energy equation and wave function. The influence of the magnetic and electric fields on the energy eigenvalue was discussed. The results show that energy increases with the increasing magnetic field and decreases with the increasing electric field. Moreover, the thermodynamic and magnetic properties involving internal energy, free energy, specific heat capacity, entropy, magnetization, magnetic susceptibility, and persistent current were determined by calculating the partition function. The internal energy increases linearly with the increasing magnetic field for a given temperature. Meanwhile, the specific heat capacity decreases with the increasing magnetic field. We point out that the presence of magnetic and electric fields makes the system exhibit diamagnetic behavior.

Abstract

This research aims to review the characteristic of the nature of electricity polymer material poly(3-hexylthiophene) P3HT against increasing efficiency solar cells based on dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC). The testing sample has done electricity P3HT el-kahfi 100/ I-V meter. The optical properties use spectrophotometer UV visible 1601 PC and characterizing IV DSSC use Keithley 2600 a type. The absorbance of P3HT polymer 1% has an absorption peak in the wavelength range of 300-650 nm. Thus the P3HT polymer material can absorb light in the visible wavelength range. The electrical properties of P3HT 1% indicate that the material has a response to light. In bright conditions, P3HT 1% shows a conductivity of 3.7x10-3Ω-1m-1 and in dark conditions 2.2x10-3Ω-1m-1. Meanwhile, Pt (Hexacloroplatinic IV) Platina as the opposing electrode can improve the performance of DSSC, which is because Pt (Hexacloroplatinic IV) functions as a catalyst to accelerate the redox reaction with electrolytes. The use of P3HT 1% can improve DSSC performance. DSSC using 1% P3HT and using Pt (Hexacloroplatinic IV) as the opposing electrode produced an efficiency value of 1.8x10-2%.

Abstract

Indonesian new Curriculum for senior high school students required student-centered learning. One of the curriculum implementation constraint was the difficulty of providing learning media. PhET simulations media is one of the options that can help implementation of new curriculum on learning. However, the use of this media in Indonesia still needs to be studied comprehensively. The learning was conducted on students of physics education Study Program in sebelas maret university in 2013. The sample consisted of 62 students that was taking quantum physics course. The method that was used in the research was descriptive qualitative.  The method that was used in learning was demonstration’s method that used PhET media and accompanied by a question and answer and groups discussion. The data was collected using multiple choice test and interview through email. We found that any students still did not understand about photoelectric effect concept. They were confused when asked about the thick material and cross section of the targets as related with the regardless of electrons in the photoelectric effect event. Other than that, the concept of the waves as a particle and its relation with the kinetic energy of the electrons was not understood by most students.

Abstract

Newton’s law is a foundamental concept that needs to be studied and understood correctly. Concept presentation in different representation will help the student to understand the concept that being learned. Student’s ability to present Newton’s law in different representation indicate the quality of student’s concept ability. This research aims to describe student’s concept ability of Newton’s laws based on the student’s ability of verbal and visual (pictorial and graphical) problem solving. The method of this research  is qualitative with the sample of 71 students of physics education from IKIP PGRI Madiun (14 students) and Sebelas Maret University (57 students). The instrument used in this research were conceptual test and  interview. The result showed that more student provide incorrect answer to the physics conceptual problem. Percentage of the incorrect answer for First Newton’s law problem is 69 %, Second Newton’s law problem is 71 %, and Third Newton’s law problem is 76 %. The  students do not understand the language of physics correctly, they undergo incorrect physics concept, and so they only understand few physics concept of Newton’s law.
