Abstract

Soil is the basis for the construction of roads, buildings, dams, and embankments. Construction activities on roads cannot be separated from soil works on which the infrastructure was built. This study aims to improve (stabilize) clay soil by taking a location in Juhut Village, Pandeglang Regency using sawdust ash from meranti wood. The effect of the addition of sawdust ash was studied against the unconfined compressive strength value of the soil and its properties using several variations of the mixture. The mix variations used in this study use sawdust wood ash percentages of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%. The effect of the mixture on soil properties was investigated by tested the physical and mechanical properties through soil classification test, Atterberg limits tests, specific gravity tests, compaction tests, and unconfined compressive strength tests. The results of analysis and laboratory tests show that the soil can be classified as clay with moderate to high plasticity (OH) based on the USCS classification. The optimum value of unconfined compressive strength was obtained by adding variations of sawdust wood ash obtained at 15% variation of wood sawdust ash with 28 days of curing time of 3.790 kg/cm2. While the soil plasticity index value decreased from 22.8% to 7% with the addition of sawdust wood ash at a percentage of 15%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the addition of sawdust wood ash for soil stabilization could increase a good effect on soil strength.

Abstract

Soil in road pavement construction has an important role as the foundation for the structure supporting the load above it. The damage that occurs in road construction also often due to subgrade soil that does not have good bearing capacity, therefore soil reinforcement or stabilization is needed to improve its strength. The road section in Cibingbin Village, Cibaliung subdistrict, Pandeglang Regency was damaged due to a lack of soil bearing capacity, where through field CBR tests it was discovered that the CBR value of the soil was 3% less than required. Soil strengthening can be done by adding additional substances to the soil which can increase its strength and bearing capacity. Eggshell powder was chosen in this research as an additive to see its effect on soil strength. Soil strength is tested through unconfined compression stress (UCS) testing in the laboratory. Apart from that, the effect of adding eggshell powder on the physical properties of the soil was also studied. Variations in adding eggshell powder were taken in varying percentages 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12% and 14%. The results of testing the physical properties of the soil showed that the original soil type was classified as organic clay with high plasticity (CH). The UCS test results on the original soil had a strength (qu) value of 1.6 kg/cm2, and the adding eggshell powder could increase the qu value which got optimum value at the percentage 12% eggshell powder with 0 and 3 days of curing of 2.851 kg/cm2 and 3.386 kg/cm2 respectively. It can be concluded that the addition of eggshell powder can increase the soil strength. The consistency of the clay soil changes to become stronger and based on the UCS value the clay soil becomes stiffer.

Abstract

Ground Granulate Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) is a by-product or non-metallic waste from the iron and steel production process. GGBFS is currently widely applied as an additive to mortar mixtures because it has pozzolanic properties. It can also be used as a material for stabilizing subgrade soil that is not included in the technical requirements for road pavement. GGBFS is a geopolymer material with NaOH and Na2SiO3 as an alkali activator to produce a solid polymer bond like cement. The concentration of 10 M NaOH used is with a solution ratio of 2.0 (Na2SiO3 to NaOH), variations in GGBFS content of 0% and 20%, and variations in S/L content (GGBFS to activator) of 1/2 and 1/2.5; which is mixed with the original soil to make a sample of an Unconfined Compression Test (UCT), with the curing of the UCT test specimens carried out for 0, 7, 14, and 28 days. From the test results, the original soil sample is of the OH soil type. The results of UCT testing of original soil samples without stabilization with a curing time of 28 days were 1.59 kg/cm2, while the stabilized soil sample (80% soil, 20% GGBFS, alkali activator S/L (1/2.5)) was 29.386 kg/cm2. The results of UCT testing showed a significant increase in soil strength values ​​, so geopolymers with GGBFS and (NaOH; Na2SiO3) materials can be used as soil stabilization materials like Portland cement.

Abstract

Road construction planning must consider the characteristics and strength of the soil. This study aims to determine the classification of soil and the effect of fly ash-based geopolymer as an added material on the specific gravity of soil. Specific gravity testing was carried out using a pycnometer to obtain the specific gravity of the soil. The test object used is a soil sample added with geopolymer with fly ash as raw material and an alkaline activator (Na2SiO3and NaOH). The NaOH concentration is 10 M with a solution ratio of 2.0 (Na2SiO3 to NaOH), fly ash content of 20%, and variations in S / L (fly ash to activator) levels of 1/2 and 1/2.5. Based on the research that has been done, the results show that the soil used in the study is included in the organic clay soil with a specific gravity value of 2.49. The effect of fly ash-based geopolymer in this study increases the specific gravity value, with a specific gravity of 2.60 for variation B (80% soil, 20% FA, S/L 1/2) so that the soil falls into the organic clay category and 2.69 for variation C (80% soil, 20% FA, S/L 1/2.5) so that the soil falls into the non-organic clay category.

Abstract

Reduced rainfall characterizes drought compared to the usual levels and persists for over a season. Drought is crucial in exacerbating water scarcity, hindering its ability to meet fundamental needs. It remains a persistent issue in various regions of Indonesia, including the Ciujung watershed. The primary objective of this study is to assess the spatial and temporal distribution of drought using SPI-based drought index maps in the Ciujung watershed. One method for determining drought severity in each area is employing the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI). Rainfall data spanning the past 22 years, collected by 10 rain gauge stations, were analyzed using the ArcGIS application to generate drought maps. SPI analysis yields drought indices for various short-term periods, such as 3-month SPI, 6-month SPI, 9-month SPI, and 12-month SPI. The most prolonged drought period was documented at the Ciboleger rain station, extending over 48 months. In contrast, the most severe drought was recorded at the Bojongmanik rain station in Lebak Regency, with a value of -3.46. This research underscores the effectiveness of short-term SPI measurement in providing more detailed insight into drought conditions, emphasizing the significance of immediate preventive measures in regions experiencing the most severe drought conditions.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan di Desa Banyumekar Kecamatan Labuan Kabupaten Pandeglang Provinsi Banten. Berdasarkan hasil observasi yang dilakukan oleh tim terdapat salah satu permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra yaitu minim nya minat dan kemampuan anak-anak berusia 4-10 tahun dalam membaca dan menulis sehingga tim mengangkat program kegiatan yang diberi nama “kampung literasi” dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan baca tulis. Literasi perlu ditanamkan sejak dini dan mendapatkan perhatian khusus baik di lingkungan keluarga, sekolah maupun masyarakat sekitar. Tujuan pengabdian yaitu meningkatkan kemampuan baca dan tulis anak melalui pendampingan literasi di desa Banyumekar yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 14 Januari 2022 sampai dengan 9 Februari 2022. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan yaitu tahap observasi, pendampingan dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan berjalan dengan baik dan adanya peningkatan kemampuan baca dan tulis anak melalui program “kampung literasi”. Kegiatan evaluasi dilakukan oleh tim setiap minggu untuk mengukur kemajuan anak-anak dalam membaca dan menulis.

Abstract

Abstrak: Permasalahan sampah plastik LDPE di Desa Kalanganyar, Provinsi Banten, semakin mendalam akibat kebiasaan membuang dan membakar sampah sembarangan, yang mengakibatkan pencemaran lingkungan dan dampak negatif pada kesehatan serta ekosistem. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan teknis mitra dalam proses pembuatan paving block dari sampah plastik LDPE dan peluang usaha dari pemanfaatan limbah plastik LDPE menjadi bahan baku pembuatan paving block. Kegiatan pelatihan ini melibatkan 20 peserta, yang terdiri dari pengurus dan warga masyarakat setempat. Kegiatan pelatihan mencakup penyampaian materi tentang paving block dan praktik pembuatan paving block menggunakan limbah sampah plastik LDPE. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan praktis masyarakat sebesar 95%. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan keterampilan praktis masyarakat, serta observasi langsung terhadap hasil pembuatan paving block.Abstract: The problem of LDPE plastic waste in Kalanganyar Village, Banten Province, is getting worse due to the habit of throwing and burning waste carelessly, which causes environmental pollution and negative impacts on health and the ecosystem. The purpose of this activity is to improve the technical skills of partners in the process of making paving blocks from LDPE plastic waste and business opportunities from the use of LDPE plastic waste as raw materials for making paving blocks. This training activity involved 20 participants, consisting of administrators and local residents. The training activities included the delivery of material on paving blocks and the practice of making paving blocks using LDPE plastic waste. The results of the activity showed an increase in the community's practical skills by 95%. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests to measure the increase in the community's practical skills, as well as direct observation of the results of making paving blocks.

Abstract

Kota Tangerang menjadi salah satu kota di Provinsi Banten masuk dalam zona merah COVID-19. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan di Lingkungan Kelurahan Pajang Kota Tangerang. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini sebagai support system terhadap program pemerintah dalam berkontribusi untuk memutus mata rantai penyebaran COVID-19. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah membagikan masker dan handsanitizer secara gratis kepada warga di lingkungan kelurahan pajang serta memberikan pemahaman terkait pentingnya mengimplementasikan protokol kesehatan COVID-19 seperti tata cara memakai masker dan handsinitizer yang benar dan etika membuang masker. Tahapan kegiatan terdiri dari tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Teknis pembagian masker dan handsanitizer dilakukan secara simbolis kepada lurah, pegawai kelurahan dan perwakilan warga untuk mencegah terjadinya kerumunan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah kegiatan direspon baik oleh pihak kelurahan dan adanya peningkatan pemahaman warga di lingkungan kelurahan pajang terkait pentingnya memakai masker dan handsinitizer dalam upaya meminimalisir penyebaran virus COVID-19.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe condition of the road in Cibingbin village, Cibaliung sub-district, Pandeglang district, was used as the main soil sample in this test. This study aims to determine the effect of Sengon Wood (Paraserianthes Falcataria) Charcoal as a soil stabilizing agent that can increase the bearing capacity of the soil.This study uses 2 methods, the first is testing the physical properties of the soil, such as testing water content, specific gravity, sieve analysis, liquid limit and plastic limit and the second testing is soil mechanical testing including compaction, DCP, and CBR testing with curing for 3 days.From the results of the study, it was found that the original soil based on the USCS classification was included in the soil type of inorganic clay with high plasticity (CH), and the CBR test without soaking the original soil obtained a value of 4.8%, and by using Wood Charcoal added in the mixture. 4%,6%,8%,10% and 12%, the CBR values obtained are 9.83% ,13%, 20%, 19% and 17.5%. and the optimum wood charcoal mixture obtained was 19%. For curing for 3 days at a mixture of 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%, the CBR values were 12%, 14.3%, 22% and 20%, and the optimum value was obtained in the 8% charcoal mixture. ABSTRAKKondisi jalan pada desa Cibingbin, Kecamatan Cibaliung, Kabupaten Pandeglang , dijadikan sebagai sampel utama tanah pada pengujian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Arang Kayu berjenis Kayu Sengon  sebagai bahan stabilisasi tanah yang bisa menaikan daya dukung tanah. Penelitian ini menggunakan 2 metode, yang pertama pengujian sifat fisik tanah, seperti pengujian kadar air, berat jenis, analisa saringan, batas cair dan batas plastis dan pengujian kedua yaitu pengujian mekanis tanah meliputi pemadatan, DCP, dan pengujian CBR dengan pemeraman selama 3 hari. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan tanah asli berdasarkan klasifikasi USCS termasuk dalam tanah berjenis tanah lempung tak organik dengan plastisitas tinggi (CH), dan pada pengujian CBR tanpa rendaman pada tanah asli didapat nilai sebesar 4,8% ,dan dengan menggunakan bahan tambah Arang Kayu pada campuran 4%,6%,8%,10% dan 12%, didapatkan nilai CBR sebesar 9,83% ,13%, 20%, 19% dan 17,5%. dan campuran arang kayu optimum  yang didapat sebesar 19%,Untuk pemeraman selama 3 hari pada campuran 4%,6%,8%,dan 10% , didapatkan nilai CBR sebesar 12%,14,3%, 22% dan 20%, dan didapatkan nilai optimum pada campuran arang 8%.

Abstract

Kondisi awal menunjukkan bahwa kelompok wanita tani di Desa Panenjoan masih menghadapi keterbatasan dalam pengetahuan teknis dalam manajemen pertanian salah satunya teknis penanaman bibit. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan untuk mendampingi kelompok wanita tani dan mempromosikan praktik penanaman bibit di Desa Panenjoan, Serang. Tujuan dari sosialisasi ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan pengetahuan anggota kelompok wanita tani dalam manajemen pertanian yang berkelanjutan serta memperkuat kontribusi mereka dalam sektor pertanian lokal, sehingga diharapkan setelah program ini dilaksanakan adanya peningkatan keterampilan tani. Metode yang digunakan meliputi persiapan, koordinasi, penyuluhan dan evaluasi. Kegiatan penyuluhan dihadiri oleh 15 peserta. Hasil dari sosialisasi ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman teknis anggota kelompok wanita tani tentang praktik penanaman bibit yang berkualitas sebesar 80%. Selain itu, partisipasi aktif dari para wanita tani dalam kegiatan sosialisasi ini mendorong adopsi teknologi pertanian yang lebih modern dan berkelanjutan di tingkat lokal. Dukungan kuat dari pemerintah desa dan masyarakat desa lainnya turut berperan dalam kesuksesan program ini. Kegiatan ini juga menyoroti tantangan yang dihadapi selama implementasi, seperti akses terbatas terhadap sumber daya dan pembiayaan yang memadai untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut.
