Abstract

This research aims to reveal the meanings that exist in the Assongkabala procession procession in Galesong, Takalar Regency. The results showed that the analysis of the meaning of paruntuk kana in the Assongkabala procession in Galesong, Takalar Regency presented the symbolic meaning of: (1) Attunu incense (2) Esaki tamparang leklenga nampa antakle anyombalang (3) Apalele umbu (4) Songkolok asepunu lekleng sagang songkolok asepunu kebo (5)nataba karro (6) Kappara gallang (7) leko ri talang bulaeng (8) attongrang (9) Apparappo ri tamparanga (10) Tena na sambarang allo assongkabala allo jumapi (11) Babbaraki buttaya. The meaning contains turiolo advice that is useful for people who listen. Traditional rituals such as the Assongkabala procession are very important to maintain their existence because apart from being a legacy of ancestors, they can also maintain social stability in society and religion because they foster a sense of togetherness and solidarity in society and family.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the form of persuasive language in the text of katobba pallappassang 'Eid sermon' in Gowa Regency, and revealing persuasive techniques in the text of the katobba pallapassang 'Eid sermon' in Gowa Regency. The method was designed using descriptive qualitative research. The data in this study comes from 2 texts of katobba pallappassang 'Eid sermon', 1 text katobba pallappassang rumallang 'Eid al-Fitr sermon', and 1 text of the katobba pallappassang hajj 'Eid al-Adha sermon' obtained from a religious figure named Muh. Ramli, S.Pd.I., Dg. Laja. Data collection was carried out using copy, read and note techniques. The results of the research show that, (1) 4 applications of persuasive form were found, namely persuasive form of invitation, persuasive form of affirmation, persuasive form of advice, and persuasive form of prohibition. (2) 4 applications of persuasive techniques were found, namely association persuasive techniques, integration persuasive techniques, pay off & fear arousing persuasive techniques, and icing persuasive techniques. The application of persuasive forms and techniques is carried out to influence the communicant or congregation so that the desired persuasion goals can be achieved.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of Pappasang ponggawa, reveal the meaning of Pappasang ponggawa and reveal the moral values contained in Pappasang ponggawa in fishing communities. This research is a qualitative study, using a qualitative descriptive design, which focuses on the form, meaning, and value of Pappasang ponggawa, obtained from ponggawa in South Galesong District through observation, interviews, and recording. The research instruments consisted of researchers, recorders, notebooks, and interview guidelines. The results revealed that the form of Pappasang ponggawa in the fishing community in South Galesong District, Takalar Regency, is a form of dialogue, pamali, and doangang which contains lexical, contextual, and connotative meanings. The moral values in the Pappasang are individual, social, and religious moral values

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability to translate Makassar language sentences into Indonesian through powerpoint media for students. This type of research is quantitative research in the form of quantitative descriptive. The population in this study were all fourth grade students of SD Inpres Jipang, totalling 32 people. The sample set was 32 students using saturated sampling technique. The data collection technique used is a test technique, namely a written test. The data collected will be analysed using descriptive statistical techniques. The results showed that the ability to translate Makassarese sentences into Indonesian through powerpoint media of students was in the category of not yet able with an average score obtained by students as a whole of 48.7. The level of ability to translate Makassarese sentences into Indonesian through powerpoint  media of students, namely samples who obtained scores of 75-100, did not meet the criteria for the level of student ability to reach the predetermined standard of 75%. The students who scored 75-100 were 6 students (18.8%) who were in the able category and students who scored 0-74 were 26 students (81.2%) who were in the unable category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the storytelling skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Takalar. The research method used is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. This descriptive method involves collecting data to test hypotheses or answer questions about people's opinions on an issue or topic. Quantitative research emphasises analysis of numerical data processed using statistical methods. With the quantitative method, the significance of the relationship between variables will be obtained. The reason the researcher chose this type of research is because it is very effective for researching students' storytelling skills. The results of the study on the storytelling skills of skilled students show that the recapitulation of the aspect score is 71.87, which is in the range of 56-75. This falls under the category of fairly skilled. From several assessment aspects, namely: (a) language usage skills, which include the proper and correct use of the Makassar language and communicative or easily understood by the audience (children), (b) vocal processing skills (articulation, tempo, and appropriate intonation), (c) mastery of the material, (d) expression/interpretation skills, (e) creativity, including costumes, props, and stage presence. Thus, it can be concluded that the students' storytelling skills are categorised as fairly skilled because, out of the 32 samples, 71.87% of the students obtained scores in the 56-75 range, which is the highest skill level.
