The Purpose of descriptive qualitative research to describe the problem-solving ability of student mathematics on the material circle for student class VIII SMP in Karawang. The subject of this study consisted of 6 selected students. Data collection techniques using the test. The result of data analysis showed the students beginning ability were included in the low category, because of only about 59% of students from 6 people who are able to solve mathematical problems in the material of the circle.

The purpose of this study is to examine how the improve mathematical communication ability of students in learning using contextual approach. The research method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method, with two different classes taken, where the first class gets the learning with the Contextual Approach and the second class using ordinary learning. The population is all students in one of the islamic junior hight schools in Cimahi city with a sample taken two classes. Both classes were given pretest and early questionnaires to determine their initial ability, then the experimental class was given learning with the contextual approach and the control class was given regular learning, and at the end of both classes were given postes that will on though to use help software SPSS 22 and Minitab 16. Analysis using Product Moment Pearson. The results showed a significan students in learning mathematics.

In this study the authors analyzed the difficulties of students in the process of mathematical problem solving skills and to determine the disposition of students on each item statement. Based on the analysis, for SPLDV material the mistakes made by students in working on mathematical problem solving problems lie in the indicators of understanding the problem only reaching 34% and the average percentage of students' mathematical problem solving abilities in the category instruments. The instrument used is a question that has been tested for reliability, validity , different power and difficulty indexes have also been validated by expert validators. The mathematical disposition of junior high school students is only 65% of the SPLDV material. Indicators of student interest and reflection in learning get the smallest percentage, which is 61%, thus influencing other indicators. The research method uses descriptive qualitative analysis to find out in depth the achievement of indicators of problem solving abilities and mathematical dispositions on each item statement. Based on the results of the overall research that the achievement of indicators of problem solving abilities and student dispositions is high.

This study aims to determine the level of ability of mathematical understanding of junior high school students VII in Karawang on the matter of building flat. The type of research used is a qualitative descriptive research. Sempel in this research is students of SMP Negeri 1 Batujaya. The data collected in the form of written test results as much as 5 items that refer to the ability of students' mathematical understanding. Most students can not understand what the problem wants. Based on the results of research students average percentage of results from the test description is only reached 58%. Judging from the test results can be said that students' mathematical understanding ability is still low.

This research aims to examine of mathematical critical thinking ability of mathematic and self confidence of students who get Realistic Mathematic Education approach compared to those who get ordinary learning. The method used in this research is the experimental method. The population in this study were junior high school students in Purwakarta, while the sample was SMP Negeri 1 Plered and selected two classes randomly from all of the existing VII class. Then from the two classes are assigned randomly into the experimental class and control class. The experimental class received learning with Realistic Mathematic Education approach and control class gained regular learning. The instrument used is the test of critical thinking ability mathematically and scale self confidence. From the calculation and hypothesis test concluded that the improvement of critical thinking ability of mathematic and self confidence of students who get Realistic Mathematic Education approach is better than those who get regular learning.

This study aims to investigate how significant the ability of mathematical reasoning is influenced by the independence of learning on comparative materials. The method used in this study is correlational method with quantitative approach. The population in this study were students of SMP / MTs in Kota Cimahi and the samples were 30 students of MTs Al-Musyahadah Cimahi. The instrument in this research is a test of 6 questions about comparison of mathematical reasoning ability and 32 scale statements of scale self-learning. The data analysis technique, which was applied, is the prerequisite analysis test in the form of normality test and correlation test. The results of this study concluded that students' mathematical reasoning ability on comparison material is positively influenced by learning independence 57.33% and the remaining 42.67% is determined by other factors. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruhi kemandirian belajar terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis pada materi perbandingan. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasi dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP/MTs di Kota Cimahi dan sampelnya sebanyak 30 orang di MTs Al-Musyahadah Cimahi. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan penalaran matematis sebanyak 6 butir soal materi perbandingan yang sudah divalidasi serta diuji cobakan dan skala kemandirian belajar sebanyak 32 skala pernyataan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu berupa uji normalitas dan uji kolerasi. Hasil penelitian ini memperoleh kesimpulan bahwa, kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa pada materi perbandingan dipengaruhi positif oleh kemandirian belajarnya 57,33% dan sisanya 42,67% ditentukan oleh faktor lain. This study aims to examine the achievement of mathematical reasoning ability and self confidence of MTs students using guided inquiry method compared with using ordinary learning. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method, with a pretest and postes experimental-control group design. The population in this study is all MTs students in West Bandung regency, while the sample of the research is as much as two classes are selected to be experimental class and control class. The experimental class gained learning by guided inquiry method and the control class gained regular learning. The instrument used is a matter of reasoning ability test and non test self confidence matter. Data of research result are tested and analyzed quantitatively by using statistical test (t test). The conclusions obtained are as follows: 1) students' mathematical reasoning ability that obtains learning with guided inquiry method is better than students who gain ordinary learning; 2) the ability of self confidence students who gain learning with guided inquiry method is better than students who get regular learning.

This study aims to increase the problem-solving ability of students of Class VII SMP on the building of flat and rectangular. This type of research is a classroom action research. By using a descriptive qualitative method. This research was conducted on the students of Class VII of Junior High School in Karawang with 38 students. The instruments used are students' Mathematical Problem Solving abilities, cycle I and II tests after giving the action. The result of the test pad of cycle 1 is only 37.1% of students who can answer the problem well. And in cycle 2 the result of the test increases from cycle 1. Based on the indicator, it is concluded that the mathematical problem-solving ability of the seventh-grade students of SMP on the building of flat and rectangle is low.

The descriptive research aims to diagnose the difficulties of secondary school students in understanding Cube and Rectangular Prism. Geometry test and interview are used as the instrument. The subjects are 3 seventh grade students who respectively represent high, medium and low ability in mathematics. This research finds that the students have difficulties in understanding the properties of a cube and rectangular prism, inventing the surface area, and using the formula to determine the surface area. The difficulty in using the formula to solve related problems is an effect of memorizing ready-made formula without understanding so the students are easy to forget it. The alternative ways to cope with the difficulties are: (a) Using computer application (PowerPoint, Ms. Word with SmartArt Graphic) and other current software like Cabri Geometry, The Geometer’s Sketchpad (GSP), Geometry Expert, Logo, Geogebra, and Wingeom; (b) Activating students’ prior knowledge about plane which explains the side of the solid figures; (c) Implementing guided discovery learning with students’ worksheet; and (d) giving variation exercises involving contextual or non-contextual problems.
