Abstract

SMEs play an important role in the national economy, but their access to financing from financial institutions, especially Islamic banking, still faces various obstacles. The low level of financial inclusivity, the complexity of administrative procedures, and limited infrastructure are the main obstacles. This study aims to describe and analyze the level of capability of MSME entrepreneurs in accessing sharia banking financing at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). The approach used is descriptive qualitative with a survey method involving 20 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through closed questionnaires with a five-point Likert scale and analyzed descriptively. The research results indicate that although BSI provides various Sharia financing products, there are still obstacles faced by MSME actors, such as a lack of understanding of the products, complex administrative procedures, and limited infrastructure and services. The dominance of female respondents also indicates the need for special attention to improving financial inclusivity for women in business management. This study recommends enhancing financial education, simplifying procedures, and strengthening infrastructure and services so that access to Sharia financing for MSMEs can be more inclusive and sustainable.

Abstract

General Background: Despite Indonesia's Muslim-majority population, the market share of Islamic financial products remains low. Specific Background: Islamic financial literacy, trust in financial institutions, and personal religiosity have been identified as key determinants in financial decision-making, yet empirical studies show inconsistent findings. Knowledge Gap: Previous research has not adequately assessed these three factors simultaneously, particularly within a student population that receives Islamic education. Aims: This study aims to examine how religiosity, trust, and sharia financial literacy affect students’ interest in using Islamic financial products. Results: Based on a survey of 100 purposively sampled students at UIN North Sumatra, multiple linear regression analysis revealed that all three variables — religiosity (β = 0.345), trust (β = 0.445), and sharia financial literacy (β = 0.236) — have a positive and significant relationship with interest in using Islamic financial products, explaining 74.2% of the variance. Novelty: This study is one of the first to simultaneously analyze these predictors among students of an Islamic university, providing insights into the behavioral intentions of a strategically important demographic. Implications: The findings underscore the need for collaborative efforts between Islamic financial institutions and universities to foster literacy, trust, and religious alignment with financial behavior among youth.Highlights: Trust is the strongest predictor of product interest among students. Sharia financial literacy significantly correlates with usage interest. The model explains 74.2% of the variation in interest behavior. Abstract

General Background: Islamic mutual funds in Indonesia have grown rapidly as ethical investment instruments aligned with sharia principles. Specific Background: Their performance, however, remains sensitive to macroeconomic dynamics such as inflation, BI Rate, and economic growth (GDP). Knowledge Gap: Previous studies often use Net Asset Value (NAV) as a proxy for performance and show inconsistent results, while limited attention is given to ROI as a direct measure of investor returns. Aims: This study aims to analyze the effect of inflation, BI Rate, and GDP on the Return on Investment (ROI) of Islamic mutual funds in Indonesia from 2020 to 2024. Results: Using monthly secondary data and multiple linear regression, the findings show that inflation and the BI Rate have a significant positive effect on ROI, while GDP has a significant negative effect. Novelty: This study differs from previous research by using ROI instead of NAV and includes the latest post-pandemic data, providing more relevant empirical insights. Implications: These results suggest that Islamic mutual funds are more responsive to inflation and monetary policy than to general economic growth, offering valuable considerations for sharia fund managers and policymakers in formulating adaptive investment strategies.Highlight : Inflation and BI Rate positively influence Islamic mutual fund performance. Economic growth shows a negative effect on ROI of Islamic mutual funds. ROI is used as the main metric to assess investment success Keywords: Inflation, BI Rate, Economic Growth, Islamic Mutual Funds, Return on Investment   Ask Chat

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the competitiveness of the sharia insurance sector in Indonesia in facing the challenges of community integration. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews with academics and practitioners in the field of sharia insurance. The results of the study indicate that this sector has great potential supported by the majority of the Muslim population, but still faces serious challenges such as low insurance penetration and literacy, limited product innovation, and less than optimal use of digital technology. To increase competitiveness, strategies that need to be implemented include sharia financial literacy education, digitalization of services based on sharia principles, development of products that are relevant to community needs, and collaboration with various stakeholders. This study emphasizes the importance of the role of regulation, innovation, and cross-sector integration to strengthen the competitiveness of sharia insurance in the era of community economic integration.

Abstract

This study investigates how public understanding of Sharia Insurance takes form within the lived rhythms of social media, where influence no longer travels through official channels but through the voices of individuals who hold attention, trust, and cultural fluency. In Indonesia, where formal Islamic finance education often falls short of reaching everyday audiences, TikTok influencers have emerged as unexpected educators. This research follows two such figures and explores how their content reshapes not only what their followers know but how they come to know it. Drawing from a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study examines shifts in comprehension among followers exposed to their content. The data reveal a significant increase in understanding, yet the clarity that followed did not translate into action. None of the informants took steps to inquire further or adopt the insurance products they now understood. What emerged instead was a gap between recognition and response, between the ability to grasp meaning and the capacity to move forward. The findings suggest that while influencers play a powerful role in building comprehension, their impact remains suspended when institutional pathways are unclear or absent.

Abstract

Paluh Kemiri Village, located in the Lubuk Pakam region of Indonesia, primarily relies on agriculture for its livelihood. However, residents face challenges such as limited resources, low income, and insufficient government support. The Farmer Household Income Exchange Rate (NTPRP) is a key indicator of their welfare. Research methods included observation and interviews to assess the farming community's happiness using NTPRP parameters. The minimum NTPRP value was 0.56, indicating that household expenditures exceeded income, making it difficult for farmers to meet both agricultural and non-agricultural needs. The maximum NTPRP value was 5.43, showing that some farmers could meet their needs. On average, the NTPRP was 1.31, suggesting that most farmers manage to afford their expenses. Additionally, data from BPS NTP North Sumatra in May 2025 indicated that farmers are experiencing a surplus with a value of 139.53. Public Interest Statement: Analyzing the welfare of farmers in Paluh Kemiri Village, Lubuk Pakam, is essential for understanding their economic and social conditions. This study uses the Farmer Household Income Exchange Rate (NTPRP) to identify challenges such as low income and limited resources. The findings are intended to guide the government and stakeholders in creating effective policies to improve farmers' welfare and promote sustainable agricultural development.
