Abstract

The objectives of this study are to (1) identify the impact of PAI learning outcomes on student characteristics, (2) identify the influence of learning motivation on student characteristics, and (3) identify the combined influence of learning motivation and PAI learning outcomes on student characteristics. The sample for this study involves 60 high school students in Yogyakarta. Data was collected using a questionnaire as the instrument. The classical assumptions applied include normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and homogeneity. The hypothesis assumptions used include the t-test, coefficient of determination (adjusted R2), F-test, and multiple linear regression. Based on the research results, (i) PAI learning outcomes did not show a significant difference in students’ honesty characteristics with a value of 0.900; (ii) learning motivation showed a significant difference in students’ honesty characteristics with a value of 0.000; and (iii) PAI learning outcomes and learning motivation showed an influence both exclusively and simultaneously with a value of 0.000. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that students’ learning outcomes and motivation affect the characteristics of students’ failure in PAI classes at high schools in Yogyakarta. This study is expected to facilitate all parties in evaluating PAI learning outcomes and gradually increasing learning motivation, in order to improve students’ performance characteristics and advance research in the future.

Abstract

The learning model plays a crucial role in ensuring students' conceptual understanding through active and meaningful learning experiences. A structured and collaborative model fosters a conducive learning environment, encouraging students to actively grasp concepts. This study aims to develop a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by manipulative media to enhance elementary students' conceptual understanding of area and volume measurement. The study follows a Research & Development approach using the ADDIE model, with fourth-grade elementary students as research subjects. Data collection techniques include interviews, classroom observations, and tests. The data were analyzed qualitatively using descriptive analysis. The findings reveal that students became more actively engaged in the learning process and were able to connect abstract concepts through hands-on practice using manipulative media. The independent learning activity level reached 91.84%, while group activities achieved 96.85% in the first session and 97.30% in the second session. The test results on area and volume measurement indicated a mastery learning rate of 96.76%. Students' conceptual understanding fell into the very high category, with a mastery percentage between 85-100% based on the Criterion-Referenced Assessment scale. The study concludes that implementing the PBL model assisted by manipulative media effectively enhances students' conceptual understanding and promotes their active participation in collaborative problem-solving activities.

Abstract

Measuring student discipline is crucial because it helps create an orderly and conducive learning environment and teaches responsibility and self-control. This study aims to develop an effective non-test instrument for measuring student discipline using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the Partial Credit Model (PCM) from Item Response Theory (IRT). The instrument was analyzed using EFA, which successfully identified five main factors corresponding to aspects of discipline: self-control, compliance (adherence to rules), concentration ability, strong determination, and responsibility. IRT analysis with the PCM model revealed that the items in the instrument had varying levels of difficulty and discrimination, with nine out of 15 items showing good discriminatory power. This instrument can provide accurate and reliable measurements of student discipline, assisting educators in identifying areas needing improvement and designing appropriate interventions to support character development. This study demonstrates that combining EFA and IRT PCM can produce a valid, reliable instrument with good discriminatory power.
