Abstract

MSMEs play an important role in the Indonesian economy, especially in the growing handicraft sector. However, many MSMEs face challenges in improving their competitive advantage and business performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of supply chain management practices and information and communication technology on competitive advantage and firm performance. This study uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 109 MSMEs in the handicraft sector in Bantul and Sleman Regency. Data analysis was conducted using SEM-AMOS to see the relationship between variables. The results showed that supply chain management practices and the utilization of information and communication technology have a positive effect on competitive advantage and firm performance. In addition, the application of information and communication technology is proven to be able to improve supply chain efficiency, which has an impact on increasing competitive advantage and firm performance. Competitive advantage also acts as a mediating factor that strengthens the relationship between supply chain, ICT, and firm performance. These findings confirm that the integration of supply chain strategies with the utilization of digital technology can help MSMEs survive and thrive amid market competition.

Abstract

This study investigates the mediating role of organizational innovation in the relationship between digital payment systems and business sustainability among creative Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Amidst the digital transformation trend, digital payment systems such as e-wallets, QRIS, and mobile banking have become critical tools for MSMEs to enhance efficiency and expand market reach. However, the sustainability of MSMEs remains challenged by limited technological adaptation, low digital literacy, and inefficiencies in operational management. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, this study collected data from 100 purposively sampled MSMEs that had adopted digital payment technologies. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the relationships between digital payment systems, organizational innovation, and business sustainability. The results reveal that while digital payment systems exert a moderate direct effect on business sustainability, their indirect effect through organizational innovation is significantly stronger. The mediation analysis confirms that organizational innovation plays a complementary and substantial role in amplifying the impact of digitalization on long-term business performance. These findings highlight the necessity of integrating technological adoption with internal innovation strategies to achieve sustainable competitiveness. The study recommends increased institutional support to foster digital literacy and innovation capacity among MSMEs and calls for future research to explore additional mediating variables and sectoral comparisons using mixed methods.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Halal Supply Chain Integration (HSCI) on Quality Performance (QP) with Halal Production Practices (HPP) as a mediating variable, focusing on culinary SMEs operating in Pasar Gede Solo, Indonesia. Amid growing consumer awareness and regulatory requirements for halal compliance, the research explores whether HSCI directly improves QP or if the relationship is mediated by HPP. A quantitative descriptive design was employed, utilizing primary data collected from 52 SMEs through structured questionnaires. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software to test the measurement and structural models, ensuring reliability and validity through composite analysis, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. The results indicate that HSCI does not have a direct significant effect on QP, suggesting that halal compliance in the supply chain alone is insufficient to enhance product quality. However, HSCI has a significant positive effect on HPP, demonstrating that strong integration within the halal supply chain reinforces the implementation of halal procedures. Conversely, HPP does not significantly affect QP and does not mediate the relationship between HSCI and QP. These findings emphasize the need for SMEs to combine halal assurance with quality management systems to improve competitiveness. Practical implications include the importance of supplier collaboration, technical support from regulators, and consumer education on halal and quality standards. Future research is recommended to include additional variables such as product innovation and customer satisfaction to better explain quality performance outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates the enabling factors of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) practices and their impact on sustainability performance, with a particular focus on economic performance among furniture Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Yogyakarta. The urgency of this research lies in the inconsistent findings of previous studies regarding GSCM’s effectiveness in improving firm performance and the limited exploration of its enabling factors. Using a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 75 export-oriented furniture MSMEs, selected through purposive sampling, and analyzed the data using SmartPLS 4.0. The results show that consumer behavior and organizational strategy significantly influence GSCM adoption, while institutional pressures and economic advantages do not. GSCM practices positively influence environmental and social performance, but do not directly or indirectly improve economic performance. This study contributes to the literature by integrating both the drivers and the outcomes of GSCM in a single empirical framework specific to the MSMEs context.

For the feasibility of the model using GoF, the results show that the feasibility value is 0.51 and can be said to be high. For the relationship between variables directly, IMC has a significant positive effect on Purchasing Intention and Brand equity has a significant positive effect on Purchasing Intention. For the relationship between variables indirectly, the results show that Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) has a significant positive effect on Purchasing Intention which is mediated by Brand Equity.
