Abstract

Creative thinking, as one of the 21st century skills, is an ability that must be mastered by individuals, especially in this ever-changing era. Therefore, the demands of teachers are not only limited to training them in learning, but also knowing the profile of students’ creative thinking abilities is also considered very important. The purpose of this study was to describe teachers’ perceptions and interests about the need for creative thinking instruments with the PISA 2021 framework. A total of 30 physics teachers who teach in various provinces in Indonesia were involved as respondents in this study. Respondents are high school physics teachers with characteristics aged 20-40 years, 19 are female, and 11 are male. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that more than 90% of respondents stated that it is very important to measure students’ creative thinking skills. As many as 83% of respondents stated that they were interested in the PISA 2021 creative thinking ability framework and wanted to try to do a creative thinking ability test with the PISA framework. Thus, teachers have a positive perception of the PISA 2021 creative thinking framework. For this reason, it is recommended for teachers to develop creative thinking instruments with the 2021 PISA framework to measure students' creative thinking skills in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of the 7E learning cycle model (Elicit, Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate, and Extend) in physics education to enhance learning effectiveness. The method employed is a systematic literature review, with articles sourced from the Scopus database. A total of 16 articles were selected through screening using the PRISMA protocol. The analysis results indicate that the 7E learning cycle model significantly improves various student skills, including science process skills, motivation, critical and creative thinking skills, self-efficacy, conceptual understanding, and scientific literacy. Popular topics discussed include temperature and heat, static fluids, work and energy, the solar system, and Earth's systems. Additionally, this model can be integrated with other teaching methods and innovative learning media to boost student interest and motivation. In conclusion, the 7E learning cycle model is an effective approach that contributes to enhancing the quality of physics education. This study's implications provide practical guidance for educators in applying the 7E learning cycle model.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the need to address the lack of critical thinking skills among students in order to meet the demands of the 21st century. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the effectiveness of integrating formative assessment in the form of Exit Slips into problem-based learning to improve students' critical thinking skills related to current issues. The research design used was quasi-experimental with matching only pretest posttest  control group, involving 69 eleventh-grade students in Bandung. Data were collected using the ACTA test for critical thinking, formative assessment called Exit Slips, and student questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using the N-Gain test, effect size, and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study showed a significant difference in the improvement of critical thinking skills between the experimental group and the control group, with N-Gain values in the moderate category and effect sizes in the high category. Student responses to the integration of Exit Slips formative assessment into problem based learning were also in the good category. Overall, the integration of Exit Slips formative assessment into problem-based learning was highly effective in improving critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the questionnaire of students’ perception about the real and virtual refutational laboratory which is a misconception remediation method adapted from refutation text using a new approach i.e., laboratory. This study was a quantitative description that involved 53 students (12 males and 41 females) chosen using purposive sampling. The students were initially given a trial questionnaire after receiving a misconception remediation treatment using a real and virtual laboratory method in different classes. The validity and reliability of the instrument were analyzed using Rasch Model. The analysis result reveals that the Cronbach's alpha was 0.61 (enough category), the item reliability was 0.82 (good category) and the person reliability was 0.31 (less variance in students' answers). Meanwhile, based on the validity test, the raw variance was obtained from measures of 29.4% reaching the minimum criteria range of 20%. The Differential Item Function (DIF) test based on gender results revealed that an item was biased (p=0.0435), whereas, there is no biased instrument based on the kind of class in the Differential Item Function test study. The analysis demonstrates that after correcting and deleting some items that did not match based on its criteria, this instrument may be used to gather information on students’ perception regarding the implementation of laboratory learning methods or the like in a valid and reliable way by the researchers and teachers.

Abstract

Conceptual understanding is an indicator of success in learning. One fundamental concept in physics that plays an important role is sound waves. However, observations, questionnaires, and interviews show that students' conceptual understanding is still low. This condition indicates the need for learning that not only helps students understand concepts but is also equipped with formative assessment to monitor conceptual understanding. One alternative that can be used is the integration of focused listing formative assessment in Concept Attainment Models (CAM) learning to improve students' conceptual understanding. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of integrating focused listing formative assessment techniques in Concept Attainment Models (CAM) learning in improving high school students' conceptual understanding of sound waves. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample involved 65 eleventh-grade students at a public high school in Garut Regency, divided into 35 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. Data collection techniques in this study included concept comprehension tests, focused listing formative tests, and surveys in the form of questionnaires. The results of the study indicate that the integration of formative focused listing assessment techniques in CAM learning is effective in improving students' conceptual understanding of sound wave material, with an increase in conceptual understanding of 61.86% and an effect size of 0.709, which falls into the moderate category.

Abstract

Alternative energy sources are one of the materials in physics that are very close to their application in daily life. Awareness of the importance of understanding in the era of rapid technological progress in the concept of alternative energy sources needs to be built with learning that actively involves students, one of which is project-based learning. This study aims to analyze the needs of teachers in the implementation of team-based projects with the Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) approach on alternative energy source materials, in order to train students' creativity. The method used was a questionnaire and interview involving 38 physics teachers. The results show that teachers need learning that integrates team-based projects with the SETS approach because only 50% of teachers have used project-based learning on alternative energy sources. In addition, 89% of teachers face various obstacles in the implementation of project-based learning, including inadequate time allocation, low critical thinking of students, and poor teacher planning. Based on these findings, it is suggested that there is a need for more comprehensive teacher learning innovations and the preparation of more structured teaching modules. In addition, support from the school in terms of facilities and time management is needed to maximize the effectiveness of team-based project learning with the SETS approach. This effort is expected to improve the quality of learning and students' creativity in understanding alternative energy source materials.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kritis menjadi kompetensi penting bagi siswa untuk menghadapi tantangan abad ke-21. Namun, studi pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa, khususnya pada materi gelombang bunyi, masih tergolong rendah yang disebabkan oleh kurang optimalnya model pembelajaran yang diterapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E berbasis aktivitas inkuiri terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi gelombang bunyi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi-eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis pada siswa yang mendapatkan perlakuan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E berbasis inkuiri, yang dibuktikan dengan peningkatan skor N-Gain. Uji non-parametrik menggunakan Mann-Whitney U test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan pada rata-rata skor posttest antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, yang mengindikasikan bahwa model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E berbasis inkuiri efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract

Educational innovation is a crucial factor in improving the quality of learning and adapting the education system to the demands of the modern era. The characteristics of educational innovation, educational strategies, and educational innovation strategies are closely interconnected in creating a more effective, adaptive, and relevant learning system. This study aims to analyze the concepts and relationships among these three aspects to understand how educational innovation strategies can be optimally implemented. This research employs a literature review method by examining various relevant sources, including books, scientific journals, and previous studies. The analysis focuses on the concept of educational innovation, the educational strategies applied in different learning systems, and innovation strategies that enhance the effectiveness of education. The findings indicate that educational innovation has key characteristics such as flexibility, sustainability, and adaptability to learning needs. Meanwhile, educational strategies serve as guidelines for designing a structured and well-directed learning process. Educational innovation strategies are necessary to systematically integrate innovations, including technology, learning methods, and curricula. This study emphasizes that the success of educational innovation depends on human resource readiness, policy support, and adequate infrastructure.

Abstract

Produktivitas kerja pegawai di lingkungan Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan SDM Pemerintah Kota Surabaya akan melahirkan pegawai dan talenta yang berbakat dalam menyelesaikan tugas tanggungjawab Pemerintah Kota Surabaya dalam melayani masyarakat dan memakmurkan masyarakat di Kota Metropolitan Surabaya secara merata. Besar sample penelitian ini adalah 35 orang atau sebanyak 50% populasi Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan SDM Pemerintah Kota Surabaya, sample dipilih dengan metode simple random sampling atau sampling acak sederhana. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dan menggunakan alat analisis berupa analisis regresi linier berganda. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: Kecerdasan dan kepuasan kerja mempunyai pengaruh nyata secara simultan (bersama-sama) terhadap produktivitas kerja pegawai Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan SDM Pemerintah Kota Surabaya, Kecerdasan dan kepuasan kerja mempunyai pengaruh nyata secara parsial (sendiri-sendiri) terhadap produktivitas kerja pegawai Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan SDM Pemerintah Kota Surabaya, dan Diantara faktor-faktor di atas, ternyata kepuasan kerja mempunyai pengaruh dominan terhadap produktivitas kerja pegawai Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan SDM Pemerintah Kota Surabaya, dengan pengaruh parsial sebesar 50,6%.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk membahas konsep metode pembelajaran dalam perspektif Al-Qur’an, khususnya merujuk pada Surah An-Nahl ayat 125. Ayat ini mengajarkan tiga pendekatan utama dalam menyampaikan ilmu, yaitu dengan hikmah (kebijaksanaan), mau’izah hasanah (nasihat yang baik), dan mujadalah (berdialog dengan cara yang baik). Tujuan dari pembahasan ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi bagaimana ketiga metode tersebut dapat diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran modern, serta menganalisis relevansinya dalam meningkatkan efektivitas pendidikan. Metode pembahasan dalam artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan telaah literatur dari berbagai sumber tafsir Al-Qur’an dan buku pendidikan. Analisis dilakukan untuk menguraikan penerapan hikmah, mau’izah hasanah, dan mujadalah dalam konteks metode pembelajaran. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa konsep metode pembelajaran yang diusulkan dalam ayat ini dapat memberikan fondasi yang kuat bagi pengembangan metode pendidikan yang lebih baik, berorientasi pada dialog, dan berpusat pada kebijaksanaan. Hikmah relevan untuk pendekatan personalisasi pembelajaran, mau’izah hasanah mendukung pemberian motivasi dan dorongan positif, sementara mujadalah cocok diterapkan dalam pendidikan yang menekankan keterbukaan dan pemecahan masalah melalui dialog. Kesimpulannya, metode pembelajaran dari perspektif Al-Qur’an ini tidak hanya relevan secara spiritual tetapi juga praktis dalam konteks pendidikan modern.
