Abstract

Over the past decade, religious character education has re-emerged as an academic response to the moral and spiritual crisis among younger generations amid globalization and the secularization of values. Although numerous studies have examined religious character education, research that specifically constructs an integrative model based on religious activities institutionalized within madrasah culture remains relatively limited. This study aims to analyze religious activities, identify an integrative model for strengthening religious character, and examine the implications of this model at MTs Miftahul Ulum, Probolinggo Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with the head of the madrasah, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and students, as well as documentation, and were analyzed using the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman. The findings indicate that religious activities such as Qur’anic recitation, congregational prayers, tahfiz programs, the 3S program (greeting, smiling, and courteous interaction), and socio-religious activities function as the core of the madrasah’s institutional culture. This study identifies an integrative model encompassing three principal domains: an integrative model of a religious curriculum within instructional processes, an integrative model of habituation and the internalization of worship practices, and an integrative model of a religious school culture. The implementation of this model strengthens students’ religious character, particularly in terms of discipline, courtesy, responsibility, learning focus, and social awareness. The study contributes theoretically by offering a contextual integrative model and provides practical implications for the long-term development of religious character education in madrasahs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the crisis of public communication in Indonesia’s digital era, which is characterized by polarization, disinformation, and degrading identity labeling, while also tracing the pedagogical and ethical roots of this phenomenon. The study positions itself at the intersection of digital communication studies and Islamic education by proposing an integrative approach based on the thought of Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi and Jürgen Habermas. Using a qualitative approach through a literature study method, this research examines the concept of tawhid as an ethical-transcendental foundation and communicative rationality as a mechanism for rational dialogue in the public sphere. The analysis results in a conceptual synthesis in the form of a dialogical-tawhidi model of Islamic education that integrates the values of tawhid with procedures of rational discourse. This model is oriented toward developing learners who possess ethical awareness, critical thinking skills, and dialogical competence in responding to the dynamics of the digital public sphere. Normatively, this model may serve as a theoretical framework for the reform of Islamic education in strengthening a more inclusive and dignified culture of public communication in the digital era.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the effect of khat learning and learning motivation on students’ Qur’anic writing ability at MTs Nurul Muhajirin Labanan Makarti. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A total of 51 students were selected using purposive sampling. The independent variables were khat learning and learning motivation, and the dependent variable was Qur’anic writing ability. Data were collected through a Qur’anic writing test and a learning motivation questionnaire. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted after confirming that all statistical assumptions were met. The results showed that khat learning and learning motivation had a significant simultaneous and partial effect on students’ Qur’anic writing ability. These findings indicate that structured khat learning, supported by strong learning motivation, effectively improves students’ competence in Qur’anic writing in the Islamic junior high school setting.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social empathy and emotional regulation on anti-bullying behavior among students at Pondok Pesantren Al-Madina Al-Islami Prabumulih. This research used a quantitative correlational approach involving 60 students as respondents. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression through SPSS. The findings revealed that social empathy significantly influenced anti-bullying behavior with a significance value of 0.006 < 0.05. Emotional regulation also significantly influenced anti-bullying behavior with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Simultaneously, social empathy and emotional regulation significantly affected anti-bullying behavior with an F significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination showed that both variables contributed 96.2% to anti-bullying behavior. The findings indicate that students with high empathy and good emotional regulation tend to avoid aggressive behavior, respect peers, and support bullying victims. This study highlights the importance of strengthening emotional and social character education in Islamic boarding schools to create a harmonious and bullying-free educational environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the internalization of Islamic values-based discipline culture and the role of homeroom teachers on the polite behavior of students at SMPN 1 Kotagajah, Central Lampung. The approach used is quantitative with a causal-associative survey design. The research sample consisted of 194 grade VIII students who were selected through probability sampling techniques. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that the discipline culture based on Islamic values and the role of homeroom teachers simultaneously had a significant effect on students' polite behavior, with the contribution of each variable to student polite behavior of 34%. These findings confirm that the internalization of Islamic values in the school discipline culture and the active role of homeroom teachers in character development have a positive impact on shaping students' polite behavior. This research is expected to contribute to the development of character education in public schools by effectively integrating religious values and the role of the supervisor.

Abstract

Although Al-Qur’an-based Islamic education has a strategic role in shaping students’ religious character, its implementation in madrasahs is often not yet systematically integrated into the curriculum and school culture. This study aims to analyze the implementation and internalization of Qur’anic values in shaping the religious character of students at MI Al-Ukhuwah Sukoharjo. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving the madrasah principal, teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that Qur’anic values were implemented integratively through curriculum design, cross-subject learning processes, and the religious culture of the madrasah. The internalization process took place through habituation and teacher role modeling, which contributed to the formation of students’ religious character, as reflected in consistency in worship, honesty, trustworthiness, discipline, and social responsibility. This study concludes that Al-Qur’an-based Islamic education is effective in shaping religious character when it is systematically integrated into the institutional, pedagogical, and cultural ecosystem of the madrasah. These findings contribute to strengthening the study of character education based on Qur’anic values and provide practical implications for madrasahs in designing the sustainable integration of curriculum, learning, and school culture.
