Abstract

Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) merupakan salah satu sarana untuk menjalankan misi Universitas Pelita Harapan yaitu berkontribusi pada kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan kebudayaan yang dipimpin oleh wawasan dunia Kristen alkitabiah serta berpartisipasi secara redemtif dalam pengembangan individu dan masyarakat bagi kemuliaan Allah. Kegiatan PkM dilaksanakan di Desa Barengkok, Kabupaten Bogor, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Analisis situasi menunjukkan bahwa Desa Barengkok tidak memiliki sumber daya manusia yang memahami cara penanganan sampah dan cara bercocok tanam hidroponik yang benar. Mereka terbiasa “memusnahkan” sampah dengan cara dibakar sehingga menyebabkan terjadinya pencemaran udara dan tanah. Tujuan PkM adalah agar penduduk: (1) dapat mengaplikasikan penanaman hidroponik, (2) dapat membedakan jenis-jenis sampah dan mendaur ulang sampah untuk menghasilkan produk yang bermanfaat. Metode PkM yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah dan pelatihan yang pelaksanaannya dibantu oleh mahasiswa Student Life Universitas Pelita Harapan. Kegiatan PkM dilaksanakan pada hari Sabtu, 10 November 2018, pukul 10.00-13.00 WIB yang dihadiri oleh 34 orang peserta. Warga dibagi ke dalam tiga kelompok yaitu: 1) kelompok hidroponik; 2) kelompok daur ulang sampah plastik; dan 3) kelompok daur ulang sampah kertas. Kegiatan PkM menghasilkan pemahaman warga akan pentingnya mendaur ulang sampah, dapat mempraktekkan cara pembuatan produk daur ulang yang bermanfaat serta cara bercocok tanam hidroponik.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) merupakan sarana melaksanakan misi Universitas Pelita Harapan yaitu dengan berkontribusi pada kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan kebudayaan yang dipimpin oleh wawasan Kristen alkitabiah serta berpartisipasi secara redemtif dalam pengembangan individu dan masyarakat bagi kemuliaan Allah. Kegiatan PkM dilaksanakan di Gereja Kristen Alkitab Indonesia jalan Raya Kelapa Dua, Ruko Blitz, Blok A No. 28, Gading Serpong, Tangerang-Banten. Analisis kebutuhan berdasarkan angket menunjukkan bahwa jemaat belum memahami secara utuh bagaimana menjaga kesehatan jantung. Kondisi ekonomi jemaat yang rendah membuat jemaat lebih memilih mengkonsumsi makanan murah dan mengenyangkan seperti gorengan tanpa memperhatikan masalah kesehatan jantung. Jemaat suka mengkonsumsi makanan cepat saji yang banyak mengandung lemak demi alasan kepraktisan yang dapat berakibat penyakit jantung. Tujuan dilaksanakannya PkM adalah agar jemaat mengetahui bahwa Allah menciptakan jantung dengan struktur yang mendukung fungsinya agar dapat bekerja dengan baik. Metode PkM adalah ceramah dan tanya jawab. Kegiatan PkM dilaksanakan pada tanggal 19 Oktober 2019 dan dihadiri oleh 25 orang. Berdasarkan hasil angket evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa melalui kegiatan PkM, jemaat memahami struktur dan fungsi jantung yang di ciptakan Allah. Jemaat menyadari bahwa kelalaian manusia dalam menjaga kesehatan dapat mengakibatkan penyakit jantung. Jemaat menyadari bahwa Allah melakukan pemeliharaan sempurna melalui pola hidup yang dapat menjaga kesehatan jantung.

Abstract

Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan UPH-Teachers College, mempunyai visi dan misi untuk mengembangkan pembelajaran transformatif dan holistis berdasarkan Wawasan Kristen Alkitabiah, dengan mengembangkan guru-guru Kristen yang reflektif, responsif dan bertanggung jawab dan menjadi berkat untuk masyarakat. Berdasarkan visi dan misi tersebut, maka dilakukan kerjasama dengan Yayasan Anak Langit yang sangat membutuhkan pengajar untuk kegiatan belajar mengajar di yayasan tersebut. Metode yang dilakukan pada PkM ini adalah Teachers College menyediakan tutor yakni para mahasiswa mengajar anak PAUD, kegiatan penyuluhan kepada orang tua tentang pentingnya hidup sehat, pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak, serta kiat mengatur keuangan oleh para dosen Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dapat berkembang dengan baik secara kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor, yang dituliskan dalam bentuk laporan sederhana. Adanya penerapan beberapa peraturan baru, seperti berbaris sebelum kelas dan hand signal memfasilitasi siswa dalam pengembangan karakter sejak dini. Mahasiswa sebagai tutor juga mendapat tambahan pengalaman dan mampu mengembangkan kemampuan mengajar anak-anak PAUD dalam konteks budaya Indonesia. Melalui kegiatan penyuluhan, wawasan orang tua siswa semakin bertambah dalam menjaga kesehatan keluarga, mendampingi anak-anak dalam masa pertumbuhan. Dengan demikian, kegiatan PkM ini telah memberikan dampak positif dan solusi bagi permasalahan mitra sehingga kegiatan ini akan terus dilanjutkan.

Abstract

Plastic waste is a by-product of daily human activities which if not managed properly will cause environmental problems. Community Service is held at Dutasia learning, Jl. Gandasari No. 45, Gandasari, Jatiuwung Sub-district, Dumpit, Tangerang, Banten 15810. Analysis of the situation at Dutasia Learning shows that Dutasia residents have few limitations in their awareness of environmental care. Many residents, especially children, throw plastic in any place so that there are piles of plastic in several locations. This Community Service aims to conduct seminars and training on the role of plastic waste recycling in environmental conservation. The seminar was accompanied by training on how to make recycled plastic products into useful products. The event lasted for two hours and was attended by 35 residents of Dumpit Village consisting of teenagers and children. The results of this activity are in the form of products from training on making recycling in the form of plastic wallets and pencil cases from mineral water bottles. A total of 25 children managed to finish making pencil cases, three children completed plastic wallets, and the rest finished it at home. Through this PkM activity, it is hoped that Dutasia residents have new insights to use plastic as needed, reuse plastic that can still be used for other purposes, and make plastic waste recycling into useful products.Keywords: Recycling, environment, plastic, product, waste.

Abstract

The kidneys are the most important to excretory organs because they have function to remove waste products from the body has metabolism. In the excretory system, the damage that could occur is the kidney has decreased until finally unable to perform its function properly which is called Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Chronic Kidney Disease caused by age, gender, and a history of diseases such as diabetes. One of the nanoparticle therapies that could be given to patients with chronic kidney disease is Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy. The purpose of this paper is to determine: 1) structure and how they work of the kidney and its relation to the urinary system, 2) causes and effects of chronic kidney disease on the urinary system, 3) mechanism of the urinary system in conditions of chronic kidney disease, and 4) mechanism and results of Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy. The research method used is a literature review from various sources which helps in reviewing the four focus of the study. Kidney is divided into three major parts, namely cortex, medulla, and renal pelvis. The excretory system has three stages, including filtration, reabsorption, and augmentation. Chronic kidney disease can be caused by age, where older age has a risk of developing CKD. Kidney disease can be divided into several stages, including normal, at risk of damage, kidneys are damaged, kidneys are not functioning properly and kidneys are no longer functioning or chronic kidney disease (CKD). The mechanism of action of Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy is divided based on its function, named as anti-inflammatory, anti-coagulation, and degradation. The results of treatment for kidney disease is Micro Medicine Osmotherapy could make all renal arteries of patients with chronic kidney disease widen and increase perfusion.

Abstract

The production of mushroom is strongly influenced by the manufacture of media which includes media thickness as well as cutting of straw. This study aims to determine the effect of media thickness and cutting of straw to the production of mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae, Bull Ex Fr./Sing.). The research method used was a two factor factorial arranged in a block randomized design, consisting of 3x2 treatment and 3 blocks. The treatments included media thickness (15 cm, 25 cm, and 35 cm as well as cutting of straw (without cutting and with cutting of straw into four parts). The results showed that the medium thickness treatment and the treatment of straw cutting did not affect the time the fruit body appeared on the surface and the time the fruit body could be harvested but had an effect on the total fresh weight of mushroom fruit body, total fruits, mushroom fruit, fruit body diameter Mushrooms, and mushroom harvest. The thickness of medium 35 cm and the treatment of cutting of straw resulted the highest harvest value that is 2,264 kg/m2 with total amount of fruit body 68 fruit, height of fruit body 37 mm, and fruit body diameter 31,21 mm.Produksi jamur merang sangat dipengaruhi oleh pembuatan media yang meliputi ketebalan media maupun pemotongan jerami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ketebalan media dan pemotongan jerami terhadap produksi jamur merang (Volvariella volvaceae, Bull Ex Fr./Sing.). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah faktorial dua faktor yang diatur dengan rancangan acak berblok, terdiri dari 3x2 perlakuan dan 3 blok. Perlakuan meliputi ketebalan media yaitu 15 cm, 25 cm, dan 35 cm. serta pemotongan jerami, yaitu tanpa pemotongan dan dengan pemotongan jerami menjadi empat bagian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan ketebalan media dan perlakuan pemotongan jerami tidak berpengaruh terhadap saat tubuh buah muncul di permukaan dan saat tubuh buah dapat dipanen tetapi berpengaruh terhadap total bobot segar tubuh buah jamur, jumlah total buah buah jamur, tinggi badan buah jamur, diameter tubuh buah jamur, dan lama panen jamur. Ketebalan media 35 cm dan perlakuan pemotongan jerami menghasilkan nilai panen tertinggi yaitu 2.264 kg/m2 dengan total jumlah tubuh buah 68 buah, tinggi tubuh buah 37 mm, dan diameter tubuh buah 31,21 mm.

Abstract

Seluruh anggota inti tim pelayan Blessing Prison Ministry (BPM) adalah mereka yang pernah menjalani hukuman di penjara dan telah menunjukkan sejumlah indikator pertobatan dan pelayanan di dalam penjara sebelum mereka bebas. Pelayanan BPM saat ini meliputi pelayanan lapas, anak kolong, dan pelayanan anak-anak kanker stadium akut di Rumah Sakit Darmais Jakarta. Hasil evaluasi mengenai pelayanan anak kolong terdapat beberapa hal penting menyangkut pertumbuhan karakter mereka, salah satunya adalah tentang kebiasaan merokok sejak dini. Hasil pemeriksaan kesehatan pada tanggal 17 Juni 2022 melaporkan bahwa sebagian anak kolong sudah merokok aktif sehingga perlu dilakukan penyuluhan tentang bahaya merokok bagi Kesehatan dalam bentuk Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM). Kegiatan PkM dilakukan atas Kerjasama Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi, Student life Universitas Pelita Harapan, BPM, dan Karsa melalui acara “Character Camp” yang bertujuan untuk memberi pemahaman kepada anak kolong akan bahaya merokok. Pemaparan dilakukan secara daring pada hari Sabtu, 9 Juli 2022 pukul 09.00-11.00 WIB dengan total jumlah peserta sebanyak 36 orang. Hasil kegiatan PkM menunjukkan bahwa 85,7% peserta memahami dampak penyakit yang ditimbulkan akibat merokok sedangkan 57,1% peserta memahami penjelasan narasumber tentang bahaya merokok sehingga membuat mereka tidak mau merokok dan berniat menyampaikan berita tersebut kepada perokok di sekitar mereka.

Abstract

The leather tanning industry is one of the industries that causes environmental damage because one of the processes uses copper to produce products such as bags, jackets, and shoes. Copper bioremediation using indigenous bacteria is an effective solution to the problem of pollution because it utilizes bacteria isolated from the polluted environment. This study aims to isolate and characterize copper-resistant bacteria from the waste of the Yogyakarta Tannery Industry. The medium used was Luria Bertani Agar with the addition of 3 mM CuSO4. The characterization carried out included the characterization of colony and cell morphology such as color, edges, optical appearance, cell shape, and Gram staining. The isolation results obtained eight isolates of copper-resistant bacteria, namely Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6, Y7, and Y8. Isolates Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5, and Y8 were Gram positive bacteria while isolates Y5 and Y6 were Gram negative bacteria. Colonies of isolates Y1, Y3, Y4, Y8 greenish color indicates the accumulation of copper in the cells as a mechanism of resistance. The discovery of isolates of copper-resistant bacteria from samples of the tannery industry waste is a useful study as an initial study to obtain isolates of Indonesian indigenous copper-resistant bacteria to be further developed as a copper bioremediation agent in the treatment of copper waste in the leather tanning industry.

Abstract

God created Indonesia with a tropical climate that is very appropriate to support the development of straw mushroom cultivation (Volvariella volvaceae). One of the stages of mushroom cultivation sequentially is pasteurization. This study aims to determine the effect of pasteurization stages, the accuracy of the pasteurization temperature, and the factors that influence the growth of straw mushrooms. The method in this study was carried out using livestock manure, with a composition of 400 gr goat manure and 500 gr rabbit manure. The pasteurization stage is maintained at a temperature of 60-700C with a humidity of 80-90%. The watering interval at the observation stage was 4 days with a frequency of 40% in experiment 1 and every day or a frequency of 100% in experiment 2. The results showed that the pasteurization stage was very influential on the mushroom growing media. Inaccuracy in pasteurization resulted in many weeds that thrived, thus inhibiting the growth of straw mushrooms. The optimal temperature in the pasteurization stage is 60-900C. The factors that influence the growth of mushroom are the selection of materials as fertilizers for mushroom cultivation, temperature, humidity include interval and frequency of watering, pasteurization process, weeding the contaminants, and time of observation.
