Abstract

The students are urged to do something without expecting anything in return and only in the name of God. Every islamic student becomes something ideal if they can internalize and implement sincerity. Many people are willing to do something because of an ulterior motive. The importance of sincerity in humans is the background for developing a sincerity scale that measures personal sincerity. One of the figures who gave an example of sincere behavior was Kyai Haji (KH) Ahmad Dahlan, so the sincerity scale was adjusted to the character's sincere behavior. This scale consists of four indicators: having transcendental motives, the ability to control emotions, the absence of a sense of superiority, and being a servant of God. Two experts in Islamic psychometry tested KH Ahmad Dahlan's version of the sincerity scale. Besides that, construct validity involved 252 students. We employed Cohen's Kappa inter-rater reliability (IRR) coefficient and Rasch analysis as data analysis methods. The findings from Cohen's Kappa indicate that both experts concurred on the accuracy of the instrument's statement items. Additionally, the Rasch analysis reveals that the sincerity scale, based on KH Ahmad Dahlan’s version, is reliable, accurate, and fits well with the model.

Abstract

This research investigates happiness conceptualizations among lower-middle economic status families in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative phenomenological approach to explore the meaning of happiness in families in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, categorized as a poor province. Using purposive sampling, 15 IMP cadres from Bantul Regency were selected. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using phenomenological reduction techniques. Credibility was ensured through data triangulation. Low-income families in Yogyakarta continue to exhibit strong religiosity, sincerity, and psychological resilience despite economic limitations. While economic factors influence happiness, intrinsic qualities play a more decisive role. This study challenges Western perspectives by emphasizing happiness rooted in internal resources. Welfare policies should address mental and social aspects, not just economic factors. Understanding culturally based happiness can help counseling practitioners support economically disadvantaged clients. Future research should explore additional happiness factors in similar contexts. Keywords: lower middle-class, religiosity, mental well-being, happiness attributes

Abstract

In the era of globalization, teachers' multicultural competence is a key factor in creating a learning environment that is inclusive and responsive to cultural diversity. Although research on teachers' multicultural competence has grown rapidly, studies that comprehensively analyze global publication trends in this field are limited. This study aims to identify research trends on teachers' multicultural competence through a bibliometric approach. This study used data from reputable academic databases and analyzed with VOSviewer software to map publication trends, academic collaboration networks, and key emerging themes. The analysis was conducted on 288 articles that met the inclusion criteria, which were selected based on the PRISMA method. The results showed a significant increase in publications related to teachers' multicultural competence since 2020. The United States is the country with the highest contribution of publications, followed by Turkey, China and Canada. Other findings indicate that recent research has focused more on multicultural education implementation strategies, the effectiveness of teacher training, and the relationship between multicultural competence and teaching effectiveness. This research will provide insights for academics, policymakers and education practitioners in designing evidence-based teacher training strategies to improve multicultural competence in educational settings.

Abstract

Discipline instillation is a process of shaping attitudes and behaviors so that children can adhere to established rules, conducted routinely by educators at school. Based on observations at TK ABA Pringgokusuman, in instilling discipline in students, teachers use habituation and role-modeling methods. The habituation method is carried out by familiarizing children with disciplined activities on a regular basis, while the role-modeling method involves teachers directly demonstrating disciplined actions so that children can observe and imitate them. However, the researcher found some challenges related to discipline instillation in children, such as children arriving late, not tidying up toys after use, and not wearing school uniforms. This study aims to understand how the discipline instillation methods are implemented by teachers at TK ABA Pringgokusuman Yogyakarta. This research is qualitative with a case study approach, involving two teachers from class B and the principal as informants. Data collection methods include interviews, observations, and documentation, with data validity ensured through triangulation techniques. The researcher used Naughton and Hughes' theory for data analysis, which involves data collection, data coding, and data analysis. Regarding the implementation of discipline instillation methods by teachers at TK ABA Pringgokusuman, the results show that the application of daily routines, spontaneous activities, and the active role of teachers as role models positively influences children's discipline. These methods are effective in shaping disciplined attitudes through repeated activities and positive reinforcement, such as praise and rewards given by teachers at school. However, challenges include inconsistencies between discipline at home and school, lack of structured planning, and limited number of teachers and inadequate school facilities. To address these challenges, teachers strive for better collaboration with parents, improved planning, and enhanced school facilities to support the effectiveness of discipline instillation in children.

Abstract

The decline in trust in the values of Pancasila, which has led to intolerance, violence against children and women, bullying, pornography, drug abuse, and technological disruption, poses challenges in the school environment. To address these issues, it is necessary to have learning that develops character values through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) using the Paseban house model based on local wisdom representing Pancasila values utilizing Information Communication And Technology (ICT). Therefore, the aim of this research was to develop a P5 learning design through an ICT-based Paseban House model. The learning design was developed using the Educational Design Research (EDR) method analyzed through a thematic approach based on the stages of EDR method. The research results showed a crisis in students’ character as they enter adolescence, manifesting in violent behavior, decreasing respect and honor, a lack of responsibility and honesty, thus necessitating learning to prevent this crisis through the P5 learning design with the Paseban house model based on local customs and culture values. To facilitate P5 learning with the Paseban house model, this learning design utilized ICT, specifically the Learning Management System (LMS), as an easily accessible learning innovation regardless of time and place due to the rapid technological advancements and the spread of COVID-19.
