Abstract

Abstract

Children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia face dual challenges of limited access to formal education and low numeracy literacy, often compounded by severe math anxiety. This community service program aimed to enhance numeracy literacy and mathematical resilience through an integrative Joymath–Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) intervention in a non-formal education setting. The implementation adopted a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving 25 students at Sanggar Belajar At-Tanzil, Selangor. The intervention was conducted in three stages: psychological conditioning to reduce baseline anxiety, concept exploration through joyful mathematics games, and cognitive restructuring to address negative self-talk. Program outcomes were assessed using participatory observation, indicators of student engagement, and analysis of students’ worksheets (LKPD). The findings showed promising effectiveness, marked by increased active participation, a shift in students’ self-narratives from helplessness to curiosity, and improved understanding of basic mathematical concepts. Beyond student outcomes, the program strengthened the partner learning center’s capacity by introducing a practical, context-sensitive instructional model that can be sustained in non-formal settings serving vulnerable learners.

Abstract

Background: Inclusive education has increasingly emphasized the importance of developing learning media that cater to the diverse needs of students, including those with special needs. However, the research landscape on mathematics learning media in this context remains fragmented, necessitating a comprehensive overview to identify patterns, gaps, and future directions. Aim: This study aims to map the development and trends in research related to mathematics learning media for students with special needs within the context of inclusive education from 2010 to 2025. Method: The study employed a bibliometric analysis using data obtained from Scopus, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) standards to ensure transparency and replicability. Data were analyzed with R Studio (Bibliometrix package) for bibliometric description and VOSviewer for visualizing collaboration networks, thematic evolution, and conceptual structures. Result: The findings indicate a significant increase in publications over the past decade, primarily focusing on assistive technology, inclusive education, and learning disabilities. Three major thematic clusters emerged: (1) Assistive Technology and Learning Innovation, (2) Inclusive Education and Rehabilitation, and (3) Children and Academic Achievement. The collaboration network highlighted dominant contributions from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, suggesting that research in this field is still largely driven by developed countries. The strategic diagram analysis identified special needs education and assistive devices as potential emerging themes. Conclusion: The study reveals a research gap in integrating adaptive technologies such as AI, VR, and AR into inclusive mathematics learning, and in examining their relationship with learning outcomes and individual needs. Future research should emphasize multidisciplinary collaboration among educational technology, psychology, and special education to develop adaptive, inclusive, and student-centered learning media.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model on the mathematics learning motivation of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sedayu. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was employed. The participants consisted of two classes: class VII B as the experimental group implementing the MMP model and class VII D as the control group receiving conventional instruction, involving 31 and 32 students respectively. Students’ learning motivation was measured using a validated motivation questionnaire. Data were collected through pretest and posttest administrations and analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, paired sample t-test, and independent sample t-test at a 5% significance level. The results indicate that the Missouri Mathematics Project learning model did not produce a significant improvement in students’ learning motivation. The experimental group showed no significant motivational gain after the intervention, while the control group demonstrated a higher increase in learning motivation through conventional instruction. Differences in learning motivation between groups were influenced by students’ internal and external factors. These findings suggest that although the Missouri Mathematics Project effectively supports structured cognitive learning, it has not yet optimally addressed affective aspects such as learning motivation. Therefore, the integration of explicit motivational strategies is necessary to enhance students’ engagement in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Education is the foundation that connects knowledge about nutrition and parenting with concrete actions in everyday life. With quality education, we can create a healthy, intelligent generation that is better able to face future challenges. Based on the results of observations in the Nglele village community, especially with one of the integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres in Nglele Village, there is a problem of stunting in Nglele Village, due to several factors, one of which is the lack of insight into the importance of maintaining a balanced diet for the baby. The purpose of this socialization of the importance of balanced nutrition and parenting is to improve the quality of nutrition towards a superior generation in Nglele Village. The methods used in this service are socialization and mentoring methods. Based on the results and discussions of the implementation of community service activities with the socialization of "The Importance of Balanced Nutrition and Parenting as an Effort to Prevent Stunting" in Nglele Village, Sumobito, Jombang, it was concluded that the socialization activity successfully increased community knowledge about the importance of balanced nutrition and the dangers of stunting. Most participants showed high enthusiasm and a good understanding of the material presented. There are indications of behavioral changes in eating patterns and family parenting patterns.
