Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of video tutorial media in enhancing the ability to make karupuak jariang. This research employs a quantitative approach with a Single Subject Research (SSR) experimental method using an A-B-A design. The study was conducted from April 11 to April 26, 2025. The subjects of this study are hearing-impaired students in the seventh grade of SLB Kemala Bhayangkari Lintau Buo. Data analysis was conducted descriptively through visual graph interpretation, with data collection techniques including observation, tests, and documentation. The research results indicate that in the first three sessions (A1), the skill level of the students remained stable at 50%. After the intervention using tutorial video media (B) for six sessions, the students' skills increased and stabilized at 92.85%. Then, in the next three sessions (A2), the students' skills showed stability at 100%. The implication of these findings is that tutorial video media has proven effective in improving the skills of making finger snacks among hearing-impaired students at SLB Kemala Bhayangkari Lintau Buo. It is recommended that tutorial video media be further improved and developed.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the color recognition ability for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the first grade at SLB YPPLB Padang using finger painting games. This research employs a quantitative research type with an experimental approach in the form of Single Subject Research (SSR) with an A-B design. The data analysis technique in this study is visual data analysis by presenting data graphs. The results of the data analysis obtained at the baseline condition (A1) show a horizontal trend for the subjects with a level of horizontal change (+0). The stability trend at the initial condition is stable with a percentage of 100% occurring three times in meetings: 25%, 25%, 25%. At the baseline condition (A), it can be seen that the direction of data change is stable with no changes before the intervention was carried out. Observations during the intervention condition (B) showed a level of change (+56.25), indicating an improvement in color recognition ability with percentages from 8 meetings being 43.75%, 68.75%, 75%, 87.5%, 87.5%, 100%, 100%, and 100%. The data direction shows a very significant increase and an overlap percentage of 0%. This illustrates a clearer development in the students' abilities, suggesting that the intervention provided has a positive impact on the variable.

Abstract

Autism is a developmental and behavioral disorder characterized by difficulties in communication, which is why various intervention methods are used to address it, one of which is the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). This research aims to determine whether the application of the PECS method can improve communication skills in children with autism. The method used is an experimental method, as this research is conducted with the aim of observing the effects of a treatment. Based on the results of the program for children with interaction and communication impairments that we applied to the subject with the initials SHD using PECS media over 5 meetings in Phase I, the result is that SHD can perform the Phase I tasks well and correctly. The result is that SHD was able to carry out Phase I tasks well and correctly. This allows SHD to proceed to Phase II of PECS, and if successful in this phase, it can continue to the next stages up to Phase VI. The use of the PECS method should be implemented intensively to achieve more optimal results, both in school and continued at home with guidance from parents. It is recommended for those who want to implement the PECS method to read the PECS method guidebook to gain a clear understanding and perspective, thus helping children develop their communication skills.

Abstract

This research aims to systematically review various approaches and the effectiveness of sex education implementation for children with special needs in Indonesia. The research method employs a literature study by examining relevant scientific articles published regarding sex education for children with special needs. The data analysis technique used is thematic analysis. The analysis results indicate that sexual education interventions, such as Moduseksi psychoeducation, sociodrama methods, and the use of song media, significantly improve children's knowledge and understanding of sexual concepts, body boundaries, and efforts to prevent sexual abuse. However, challenges remain in the limitations of materials, parental resistance, and the constraints of learning methods that fit the children's characteristics. This research emphasizes that sexual education must be packaged in an engaging way, be easy to understand, tailored to the children's needs, and involve the active participation of parents, teachers, and professionals. Sexual education provided from an early age has been proven to positively contribute to children's readiness to face biological and social changes, as well as strengthen protection against the potential of sexual violence. Therefore, there is a need for the development of innovative methods and materials to support the effectiveness of sexual education for special needs children sustainably.

Abstract

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are children who experience complex challenges, characterized by symptoms in social communication, repetitive behaviors, and limited interests. This study discusses a case study of AF, who had previously undergone a GFCF diet at SLB Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping. The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of Behavior, Attention, Language, Stimming (BALS) that appear in ASD children in grade XI at SLB Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping. This qualitative research uses a case study approach, which primarily focuses on a single case or multiple cases studied in real life. The subject of this study is a child with autism spectrum disorder, initials AF. The data collection techniques used in this study are observation and interviews. The data analysis technique involves several stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show that behavior depends on environmental conditions and the activities provided. Attention AF is able to maintain focus for a limited period of time. Language responds to name calls, understands commands, and uses verbal and nonverbal communication fairly well. Meanwhile, stimming behavior tends to be consistent every day, although its intensity can be influenced by emotional and environmental conditions

Abstract

This study began with the existence of problems in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who exhibited low sitting tolerance behavior during learning. The purpose of this study was to improve the sitting tolerance behavior of second-grade ASD children at SLB Negeri 1 Solok. The approach used was quantitative with an experimental method in the form of single subject research (SSR) design A-B, and the subject was a second-grade ASD child at SDLB. Data were collected through observation using a duration instrument and documentation. This study used visual analysis in the form of descriptive graphs. The results showed that the sitting endurance behavior of the ASD child improved after the intervention using art clay media. This was evidenced by the increase in the child’s sitting endurance duration based on the results of the data analysis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the Fernald method can help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder improve their word reading skills. The type of research used is an experiment in the form of Single Subject Research (SSR) with an A-B design. The subject of the study was a fifth-grade student with Autism Spectrum Disorder at SLB Al-Azhar Bukittinggi. The data were collected using a word reading ability test as the main instrument. Data analysis was carried out using a visual analysis technique presented in graphical form. The analysis process was conducted over 12 observation sessions. The findings indicated that the hypothesis was accepted based on the established criteria. The change in level between conditions was flat, meaning there was no immediate improvement between the final baseline results and the initial intervention results. However, the trend change between the baseline and intervention conditions increased (+), showing a rising trend from a stable baseline to an improved intervention phase. The data stability was initially inconsistent during the early intervention sessions but eventually demonstrated more consistent improvement. In conclusion, the results of this study show that the Fernald method has a positive impact on improving the word reading ability of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
